I can't believe some people would actually like to have fewer TSLs because of some notion of "making it special." If I won a million dollars every day, it would still be awesome each day.

And also, qualify or GTFO.. the vast majority of the invited players proved that their big names are nothing but hype and failed miserably.

Agree with 2x a year being best, only one a year would be too painful to wait for ^^
and anything more often than 2x a year the hype will be smaller (and poor TL staff will have to work their ass off so much, although most wont care about that )

shouldn't voters of "no more TSL" be banned? also, once a year is a little too seldom, but this shouldn't be like GSL. twice a year maybe? or 1½ per year? once is a little to little but some surley would lose interest if this becomes an evenet as frequent as GSL
it's a good day to die

Once a year would build its prestige.

3-4 times a year sounds ideal to me, TSL spring, TSL summer, TSL Autumn/Fall, TSL Winter.

Keeps it elite and precious, ensures it's a BIG event with BIG prizes which again ensures it dominates the scene. It gives you something to look forward to, rather than being just that event you can qualify next month for too if you fail this time.

You use an example that doesn't prove your point. I guarantee that every million wouldnt be as awesome. I'm pretty sure after 50 or so, you'd go "yeah, that's nice I guess"

3 times / year would be perfect, as long as production quality & prizes dont take a hit.

like TSL winter, TSL spring, TSL Summer/Fall (since this is a bit dead period with vacations etc.).

Thoughts on scheduling:

The elimination bracket is a Ro32 and will likely stay that way, no? Assuming TL keeps the weekend schedule (which is brilliant) that gives us:

2 weeks for Ro32 (Sat/Sun x4 matches each)
2 weeks for Ro16 (Sat/Sun x2 matches each)
1 week for Ro8 (Sat/Sun x2 matches each)
1 week for Ro4 (Sat/Sun x1 match each)
1 week for Grand Final/3rd place (Sat/Sun x1 match each)

This is 7 weeks minimum to run the actual tournament. Assuming that we keep the same format, we have:

16 seeds/invites*
8 qualifier winners
8 qualifiers on points

This adds 8 more weeks of qualifiers, assuming they run one a week. (It would be possible to run more than one at a time of course but that's going to screw things up I think.) So the point is, we're talking a minimum of four months to run a TSL.

That limits the TSL to a max of three seasons a year (similar to the MSL/OSL). Practically, it limits it to two seasons a year given staffing, sorting invites, scheduling, etc.

TSL has been running a little less than once a year so far.

I think the optimal idea is to continue the TSL as a "yearly" tournament and in fact make that the official position. I'm not inherently opposed to two seasons a year, though more is just a really bad idea - but I'm in favor of limiting the occurences.

* And here's the note. I think that it would make more sense to seed 4, and then invites should be top performers from other tourneys (GSL, MLG IPL, NASL, Dreamhack, etc. depending on which events develop as most prestigious). I mean, 12 invites (or the 13 we now have) seems like a lot, but if you have top 3 GSL invited, top 3 MLG or IPL, top 3 Dreamhack, or whatever, that's completely a legit field.

Couldn't say it better. There is alot of different tournaments starting up all over the place right now and this timeline will allow the players / fans to prepare for it and it will keep its prestige. (thats if the fans can wait that long and not storm the TL hq while waiting

They should definitely wait a bit. TSL feels really special because it doesn't happen all the time. But what I'd really like to see is a BW TSL again.

Anyways, I hate those idiots who vote ''Don't need anymore'' just because they can. -__-

Yeah... So why won't you just organise that one yourself huh?

TSL have been and should be mainly for foreigners. If you want to see Koreans, watch GSL.

TSL isn't the one who is stupid sir, it is you.

Maybe wait a bit...

Now is time for TSTL in the break between the TSL's.
Also at people who write that we should have more than 2 a year.
TSL should abolish the invite system. Only top 3 of previous TSL should get autoinvite. Rest should fight hard in TLOpens EU,NA,KR for spots and points.

Of course, the players would like you to start qualifiers now

I'm scared that too frequent would dilute the experience though, so maybe it would be best to wait a little while?
