Is there no gas at Hwarangdo nat?

Poor OGN, either EVER want to become the new Shinhan or that EVER is the only company interested in sponsoring OSL's these days.
|
yeah Hwarangdo looks nothing like, well, anything we've seen recently and it looks like we're getting a crapton of games on it right off. hopefully it's balanced well...
jaedong vs casy could be pretty awesome if Casy pulls something off *crosses fingers* nuke rush gogogo :D
NADA AND SAVIOR HWAITING! wooooooo!!
|
The name Hwa Rang Do is Korean for "The way of the Flowering Manhood". Can we please call it that? Pleeeease?

Glad to see everything is getting ready to start up again. I also like this new system they are using, it definitely is much easier to comprehend compared to the old system. The map pool looks kind of weak in my opinion, but at least its something new. I'm not sure I like all the small chokes on Hwaragando, but we'll see how it plays out. Anyway, can't wait for some games to actually start up!
|
yaaaaaaaaaaa, EVER is the best, screw the baccus crap
|
Jaedong vs Casy will be damn awesome.
|
july v mind -w/ and hopefully july v anytime to follow jaedong v casy
those matches will be orgasmic, but the july anytime mind all in the same group that is a heartbreaker i wont get to see one of them advance they some of my favs go july and anytime sorry mind
|
Very disappointing there is no Iris. if Frozean Rock and the like are there he should be there easy.
|
Another Osl, excellent. Hopefully Casy will knock Jaedong out in the ODT, too. :3

should be nice

That new map looks really cool. Just hope the "gimmicks" don't cause imbalances.
oooh, also have some nice matches right off the bat. Yay.

|
yay!! Some pretty nice and some decent matches :-D!

I think that some of the more "innovative" maps will be super imbalanced causing a bad OSL. I think that Jaedong and Lux will have to give up games on Hwanrangdo b/c they don't have early game mutas to dominate.
I say Stork or Flash to take it all.
|
that EVER logo looks like a giant purple condom.
|
casy has positive recs vs JD, hahaha.. oh man, go neo boxer!
|
|
|
No gas at natural and just 1 in main? That can't ever be balanced... I predict 8-10 minute T>Zs; not enough mutas or lurks possible.
|
Casy V Jaedong will be sick. Casy for the win!

wow hwarangdo looks like a very excellent map.. a bit like nostalgia but i like all the new additions and changes. only concern is the middle area seems a bit too small, controlling that area seems to be the emphasis of the map

Hello. You must be new. Let me tell you about a map called Nostalgia. This is one of the greatest maps of all time and had, gasp, only one geyser between main and nat.

I believe Casy is 3-0 vs JD.

Hwrangdo seems like Terran Turtle and possible drop on Z opponent. Terran favored? Except some of the rocky grounds that cant build turrets.

I was going to say that!
BTW, who besides me thinks that the new Hwarangdo map strongly favours Terran?
Not much room for large flanks, further complicated by all those obstacles; cliffs next to nat allow shelling it plus the other expo; walls around 3 and 9 expo also facilitate siegeing; the mains are quite a distance from their cliff's edge, making muta harass of mineral line risky.
|
Ha funny, i just played nostalgia about 5 times yesterday. This is going to be interesting. The natural is not quit the same, on nostalgia your base is directly behind the natural, but they made some holes in there now. And after the two bridges you can't build anymore, not even on the sides.
16 April....going to be a long wait...

Great! A new OSL! Like all addicts, I badly need my dose. However, I think the map pool really favors T, especially over Z. Good for Flash, bad for Jaedong. But what do I know? Wait and see. Bad news imo, is that Anytime has the toughest group, with July Frozean and Mind. And I would love him to reach at least semi-finals in this league. He really deserves it.
|
i hope ever doesnt repeat bachus osl's really huge mistake: the corniest fucking intro ever to an either starleague's in history.
|
Trying to download the new map, but can't seem to find a good source. Released?

I guess Group A will be as close to a group of death as we can get.

Well that's an old map, gameplay has evolved. They didn't create maps like that in a long time. With good reason... I can't see Z winning against T on a map like this in today's pro scene (with the exception of cheese/ling all-in or highly risky hidden expansions). What do you want to do with just 1 gas? You need 2 for lurkers and mutas and 3 for defilers and ultras (better 4). Now they take away one and expect it to work out just fine? It's all a conspiracy to make T stronger!

I agree, Jaedong is the freaking KING right now. His level of play has shown that he is capable of overcoming economic difficulties, like playing a single gas economy, and still dominate.
However, Flash's recent victories, and the maps selection, cause me to expect him to win this OSL.

Jaedong and Savior will make it out of their groups I think. ^_^
|
I was hoping they would use Colloseum, oh well. But I can't wait for the new season!
|
The intro should be twice as good as the one two seasons ago to make up for Bacchus.
|
I think its a good idea that at least one of the maps favors Terran.. Last season and GSI the maps were pretty anti.
|
I'm hyped =) Finally some new maps and NO KATRINA!

yes Hwarangdo looks quite nice

Wut? Hydra defiler stopped working now vs 1 gas terran? Lies. You think from the box you were raised in.
Anytime and Casy obv here -_-;; Been waiting for Casy for way too fuckn long. He better top 16 it OMFG. He's been working hard for this OSL.
As for Anytime, who's sexier? Pff. NO ONE. GOGO Lecaf Duo~

For those of you unfamiliar with the format that the OSL is played.
The OSL has 16 players, the top 4 finishers from the previous season and 12 qualified players from ODT. They are divvied into 4 groups of 4 with the 4 top finishers as seeds in each group. A selection process is done and voila we have 4 groups of 4.
Traditionally MSL used the double-elimination method and OSL used a round robin format. Round robins are played out so that everybody plays everybody once. The top two scores from the group go on. In double-elimination, when the dust has settled, there is a clear 1st and 2nd place in each group. In round robin, after the dust settles there's still a possiblity of ties. Example: 3-0, 1-2, 1-2, 1-2. This calls for a tiebreaker and an unnecessary waste of time.
OSL has decided the double-elimination method is a far more clean cut way of handling the group stages instead of the somewhat archaic and time-wasting round robin format.

Have they offically changed it to double elimination, or is this just for ODT like it traditionally is.

What's with the Casy's hype anyway? Neo-Sync ain't going anywhere until next world cup...

Mineral only natural?? NOOOOOOOOOoooooooo!

On April 03 2008 14:36 SonuvBob wrote:Can we please call it that? Pleeeease? That's not right though. 화랑 are ancient Korean warriors. Hwa Rang Do is simply the passage to becoming one of those warriors. It is the process of becoming a man/warrior. The martial art named after that is based on similar principles.
Also, shouldn't this thread be named ODT? Because it's not specifically on the Ever 2008 SL.

woot woot! exciting! can't wait
|
Heh. Forget about third gas- Second gas for zerg looks tough on Hwanrangdo. *Seems* like the spread favors T in TvZ via marine harass. I play toss, so I could care less either way, but FE PvZ may be interesting without second gas, heh (Go speedlots!)

Im so happy :D just curious.... how many times have EVER sponsored the OSL??? 3? 4? 5 times???? cuz some reason it seems that EVER loves Starcraft
|
|

Actually, it has some similarities to Gaia. Small nat, two paths into it, bridge as main entrance. Also, it seems they have stopped with their very high gas maps that they had in other maps in ProLeague.

I heard Daezang is on rampage.
Go ACE!
