[Code S] Ro8 Day One Recap

Sun vs MVP should be a crazy match up. O_O I'd think that MVP will have learned a lot from Sun's games in the RO16.
Fucking brilliant. I'm super hyped up for the meeting of MVP and Rain. Time to sleep now though at 8:00 PM. I must wake to watch MKP return to power.
Why is there a quote from Churchill, among all those Orwellian references? Is this some sort of message?
Wow, really nice recap Porce and wax, especially liked the ending! Keep this up guys!!!!
Rain is from the future. He is a messenger of things to come. He is what we reach for.
Mvp is from the past. He is the guardian of how things were. He is what we learn from.
It is interesting to think of what could have been. If Rain had been the one transitioning to SC2 early on, would Mvp have been the one to make a claim to be the strongest KeSPA player? Would Rain have been a four time champion?
Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past. I had the sickest nerd chills at this part. On another note I really feel sorry for hero ;( but this should be an incredibly good RO4 match between the old and the new!
I love your works Porcelina, I'm glad you were picked up as a writer!
Awesome write up! GOGO RAIN!
Poor HerO
amazing write up Porcelina! Looking forward to more in future.
MVP for 5 time champion!!
Did you quote... Blackadder? That's a rather cunning plan....
Wow.....Rain is damn good. 1st kespa gsl champion????
Watching the VODs of Mvp vs Symbol this morning I was amazed at how Mvp was once again winning his games through sheer mechanics and ability, macro, micro, multitasking. He played like he used to in 2011 and better. Crazy stuff. I had full confidence in Rain making the finals of this GSL but now that he has to face that kind of Mvp, I just don't know...We'll find out.

Agreed. Such a great ending to the recap article!
Could start a debate on that answer, but too late the LR thread has been derailed by this argument haha.
Super hyped for Rain vs Mvp. Gogo King Mvp!
my god Rain is a beast, the #1 contender for the GSL title atm.
Mvp is looking, quite frankly, better than he has looked this entire year.
Rain is looking like, quite frankly, the scariest player in the game right now.
A clash of this magnitude doesn't end in lackluster performances and disappointing results. It ends in a match that will certainly prove itself to be among the most anticipated and most intriguing of all recent matches.
+ Show Spoiler +It will end in Mvp's victory, of course!
Nice article, Porcelina you're quickly becoming my favorite TL writer.
I hope Hero doesn't get too effected by his loss.
Brilliant write up, Porcelina. ^^ Loved it. Got chills at the ending.
Mvp's starting to look like his old self, more and more. But I'm afraid unless he can fully return to his prime, he won't be able to take on Rain. I've bet against Mvp only once before, in season two against PartinG and I was wrong. I seriously hope I'm wrong this time, too. Rain 3:1 Mvp.
that 1984 quote. well done, porcelina, well done.
sad to see HerO go, not a fan of Rain's play at all. Kinda hoped symbol would make it through as well
no big deal, gogo TaeJa Mvp finals!
Forgot that this was on yesterday and sucks to see HerO lose but still... Hoping for a Sun/Rain vs Taeja finals. Royal roader, first KeSPA participant ever in the GSL, in both big ro4 tournaments right now. Really nice story.. And hey.. if Taeja wins.. he's Taeja. ^^

M V P MVP WILL NOT BE DENIED

I whole-heartedly agree. Epic ending to the article. These recaps are excellent. Keep up the great work!

So I woke up this morning and it occurred to me. MVP doesn't actually have health issues, or they are not as bad as he says. He said his wrist problems will end his progaming career but now wrist problems have suddenly turned into neck problems. It's a ploy to make his opponents lower their guard!
Unstoppable force, meet immovable object.
Should be fun.

This may answer your questions:
Seo Yeon Ji: Isn't that really really serious?
Mvp: It is serious. For normal people, the neck has the shape of an inverted "C", that's normal. But mine is already in a "C" shape. If it continues the pain will become even worse.
Seo Yeon Ji: Then wouldn't it be better to go for surgical treatment as soon as possible?
Mvp: That's also a problem. As a professional gamer, it feels like there'll be a huge drop even if we just stop playing for a week. In addition, the competition now is even stronger. I'm unable to complete my treatment.
But what upsets me most in the midst of this are the fans who keep wondering about the legitimacy of the injury. I say that my condition isn't good, but yet I still manage to win sometimes, which leads to the fans thinking things like "Seems like he's not really that ill", or "Is he really sick?"
To be honest, I really hate making excuses for my losses. Recently, I'm losing frequently, and that's because I'm not good enough. That's why I say that my current ability only belongs in the lower ranks of GSL. I'm not finding excuses for my losses. My body condition is really not good, but it's always seen as an excuse or a lie. It really makes me sad.
God damn Porcelina way to make a simple recap into the most epic thing ever.
Badass recap i have to say, and to see MVP's form back is the most impressive feat i have seen in the Sc2 history. He's going for number 5
Sick write-up.
I don't think rain can be stopped.
Awesome we have another epic writer in Porc now.

One of the best (if not THE best) recap I've read, in terms of storyline and writing style.
Another of these typical series "Oh right, Mvp should *finally* lose, right ?" BAM no. And this time, phew ! What was his injury already ?
Also, Rain is looking unstoppable.... Would not surprise me at all if he got this championship...
But, heh, he'll have to meet the Guy-who-know-how-to-win.

Don't know if there's a better way to put it. Awesome battle iiiinc ! ^_^

To be frank, that conclusion was beautiful.
Beautifully written. 11/10
Blizzard pls nerf Rain!! He seems OP in all three matchups.
I hope TaeJa wins
This season is just dripping with delicious winsauce.
MVP / Rain is sure to leave sperm in the pants of many.
Brillant write up. I don't often comment, but this time I have to. Amazingly well written. Thank you and keep it up !
Beautiful write up at the end talking about MvP vs Rain. It's shocking that its going to be a Ro.4 game, but that was the same with MvP vs Leenock end of last year.
It saddened me to see HerO lose, but as a Protoss player I was very excited to see Rain's play as he is so good (scary good) so hope to see what he can do against the best SC2 player in history
GO MVP don't let the Kespa win anyfurther ... !

MC vs DRG last season too tbh. Two champions on one side of the bracket and sort of bursts in Code S on the other side. Not that I think Byun or Seed are bursts. Just by comparison, one semi final was far more hyped than another. Pity DRG didn't really turn up that day =(
But yeah! MVP vs Rain!

argh, I"m so torn. I loved Rain's play and having him winning 2 tournaments would be very siick but then MVP is frickin MVP, I can't root against him I wished this matchup was the final instead of semi
i feel sorry for hero i rly love this guy.. But Rain is the most solid protoss player in long time. I rly hope he will win gsl
mvp vs. rain: The most anticipated match in the history of SC2?
Can't wait.
What a beautifully written recap. I'm really looking forward to Mvp vs Rain. I'm rooting for Mvp, but I think both really deserve winning this GSL!
Mvp vs Rain will be increadible to watch! Both from gameplay and backing story perspectives.
Hope Mvp will be in good health condition when the match comes. Mvp fighting!

^ All TL writers are really good, and they provide very good reads.

Why people still doubt MVP is beyond me
I was missing GSL recaps so much... Why don't they do it anymore like this?
I like recaps more that previews, dunno why. I still remember GSL Open Season 1 Finals recap, that was one of the most amazing things I've ever read.
Very well written
Can't wait to see the rest of the events unfold!
That was a pretty damn good write up. If GSL sold a package just to watch this series, I'd be inspired to grab it.
Just wanted to say sickkkkkk write-up! Real talent for writing!!
Okay, Rain. I doubted your PvP because I hadn't seen it yet. And since it's such a volatile match-up, I figured HerO would have the advantage 'cause he seems to do better in strange situations. You proved that you have the sheer brainpower to outsmart practically any opponent of any race. I knew you'd be good, but I thought KeSPA players would need more time.
So glad I was wrong about you. Not voting against you ever again.
Mvp vs. Rain gonna be phenomenal. Can't wait for next week.
Before rain vs hero, I felt intimidated by rain. Just by the possibility of an unexperienced player getting that kind of success so early and beating so many stars of the game. Now I feel afraid. A slight panic; the storm is coming. But nonetheless, my confidence in MVP as our guardian is as firm as possible - I am truly bipolar in my anticipation of the coming game. This is a clash of titans. Never have sc2 made me feel like this. Just entering rains TLPD makes me shiver in fear, his face not showing a sign of humanity - a singleminded force of destruction.
MVP, may your body hold out long enough for the storm to pass. See you on the other side.
That was one of the best written articles I've seen, loved the references and quotes.
MVP vs Rain needs to be the finals.
This is the match I've most been looking forward to in years.
The 2 best players of SC2 at the moment by quite a margin, Taeja and Life be damned.
Wow, MVP vs Rain would be historic, but Taeja vs Life would be very exciting as well. I'm happy eitherway.

Be that as it may, he doesn't seem to suffering in the booth. Compare that to how sC looked in the booth when he was sick and the difference is huge.

I wish people wouldn't be retarded and accuse mvp of faking his injury. Honestly, he even said it hurts him when fans make these sorts of biased and frankly insulting claims.
If mvp says he is injured, I believe his injured. If you have some proof otherwise, bring it forward. Otherwise realize that mvp is the best sc2 player in the world EVEN with his injury.

Actually, you can see it physically taking a toll on him. Watch him in the GSL in 2011, in the booth. Before the game starts he looks awake, alert, and just happy to be playing. Now he just seems kinda worn out, and sometimes honestly, not very happy to be there. You are also comparing 2 different things; sC's lung collapsed so it was probably hard for him to even breathe.
