Romance. Gossip. Cross Dressing. Alright. Maybe some past events etched "Cross Dressing" and "Progamers" together into our brains forever and ever. But the other two words are likely not something you'd expect too much out of the progamers -- after all, we mostly interact with them by watching their fantastic play on screen. They deserve our pity, don't they? Look at the stuff they do for the approval of their fans. And in their spare time, they're stuck in their dormitories (which are quite nice, btw) all day long slaving away in front of their computers, perfecting that new build order. But luckily for them their lives aren't quite that bad. They go on vacations, whether they be personal or a group trip, or go to workshops in nice spas and hotels, all the while being able to play games and of course, soccer. Even within the rigidness of Korean society, many of their personalities and their quirks stick out -- often causing quite scandalous and amusing events where they must remain anonymous. All of these events -- the daily lives of progamers, whether it be during breaks or just during the season -- are just as important as Proleague itself. And when Proleague returns and we once again watch our favorite players do battle, I hope that you will be able to see them all in a brand new light. ABC Talk by Milkis As a foreign community we often forget that progamers have personality. And no, not the packaged personality presented to all of us by the teams and the players, but the little tidbits that remind us that progamers are human and not just robotic critters who practice 10 hours a day. Luckily for us, Lee Sora from Daily E-Sports has a column called ABC Talk -- a column where she compiles fun and embarassing stories regarding progamers who choose to remain anonymous. Perhaps, these tidbits will help you realize that much of these progamers are human too -- in fact, perhaps all too human.
Of course, this isn't the end of it -- did you know there's a certain progamer who can't go to the bathroom by himself? Did you know Leta and Jaedong once tricked a reporter into believing that HiyA was the son of the ex-Hwaseung Coach Cho? How about a progamer that keeps Ketchup and Mayonnaise on his practice desk for snacks? There's also a progamer that is known as the king of Zerglings -- as he is rumored and tested to have known everything there is to know about our cute little creatures. Progamers are also just as prone to jinxes -- we all know about Baby's rainbow socks -- well, there's a progamer who wears red underwear whenever he plays for the exact same reason. There's also quite a number of jinxes -- involving beards, medicine, and coaches and staff members watching (and not watching) the game live. There's many more, of course, but sadly, there's only so much space. Think of all of this as a little glimpse into the daily lives of progamers -- a little glimpse, I hope, will make the progamers a little bit more human to all of you. And did you know Zero was featured in so many of these ABC Talk columns that he even demanded royalties? Oh my, oh my. Don't let your guards down yet -- here's Spica with a follow up punch -- a brand new compilation of the odds and ends that went on in the last ten days. Before we start our daily report on what's been cookin' in the Korean BW scene, I want to thank everyone for the warm comments last time for my debut! Reading them made me pumped and motivated, so just like a generic progamer statement, I'll do my best to do even better in the future! Now then, what's been going on for the past 10 days? "Perfect Terran" XellOs returns to Hite Entus Everyone's favorite DDR Terran is back! TheMarine: "So Xellos, how do you feel officially coming back to Hite Entus?" Xellos: "It disgusts me to see my former team turn from (-_-) to (^_^)... That's to be expected when you've got a bunch of guys from a team called 'Sparkyz' to come over though. There will be a lot of changes around here from now on." Xellos, after spending 2 years in Air Force ACE, made his official comeback to Hite Entus during Hite's fan meeting on the 10th. Fans squealed in delight as the man who wore the (-_-) face during the CJ days walked up on stage, but the usual (-_-) face turned into a (^_^) when he saw his fans again. Regarding whether he will return as a player again for Hite or as a coach, Xellos said, "It's still not decided yet whether I will return as a player or become a coach, but I want to continue to be involved in eSports. Having attachment and being involved with games is most likely my path." On his 2 years spent in Air Force ACE: "It was a really amazing time for me. My results there weren't that good, but it was a time where I learned many things. It's a valuable experience I'll be able to look back on with fondness." On the air force's food? "The taste of your mother's home cooking really cannot be compared to the military's food." And to all his fans out there: "I wasn't really able to make that many appearances during the 2 years spent in the military, but I'm really thankful to the fans who kept on believing in and supporting me. I will do my best to not have any regrets regarding games in Hite Entus." We'll be looking forward to seeing you again with Hite Entus, Xellos! Don't play too much DDR in the meantime! Regarding Hite Entus's fan meeting that was mentioned in the last writeup... The fan meeting was a huge success on the 10th at Yongsan's iPark Mall! Effort had so much fun crossdressing as a girl that he had to be dragged away by his teammates. Hite Entus's fans were in for a treat that day as they watched Hite's players embarrass themselves with singing, dancing, a gag and talk show, and crossdressing.
From the progamer re-education seminar yoga session: MafiaZerg: "I got a business to run. I gotta kick asses sometimes to make it run right. We had a little argument, Flash and me, so I had to straighten him out." But then, Flash retaliates! MafiaZerg: "What's the matter with you?!??" Flash: "I leave for Shanghai tomorrow, think about a price." MafiaZerg: "Sonofabitch!! Do you know who I am?! I'm MafiaZerg!!! I made my bones when you were going out with Stargirls!!!!!" ***BREAKING NEWS*** You know how some coaches treat their players like sons? If the coach is like a father to the player, then would this be called incest? In a shocking picture leaked to the press, Coach iloveoov is caught trying to plant a kiss on his successor Fantasy's lips. Everyone knows that Coach oov loves Fantasy, but not to this extent... Okay, maybe they were playing the usual Korean game of "pass the paper", where people pass a piece of paper to each other only with their mouths, but clearly, this is a hidden romance that was kept from the public!!

So how did we survive two weeks without Proleague now? Has it been two weeks? It's quite a mystery, but to fill in that gap, folks at OGN and KeSPA organized one of the best All Star games I have ever seen. Not only was it entertaining, but it was an amazing event that allowed the personalities of the progamers to shine. Here's Waxangel with a nice recap of the event. All Star Game Recap by WaxAngel Proleague has come a long way since its first season back in 2003. Though progress has often been slow, the Proleague hasn't been afraid to change things up for the sake of bettering itself. Slowly, but correctly, we got rid of 2v2, introduced the multiple round format, and introduced the winners league format. And now, in 2011, Proleague has given me another pleasant surprise: the first tolerable All-Star Game. (To those of you who found previous All-Star games entertaining: I bow my head to you in respect. You are true fans of e-Sports and progamers) Players and Teams The 2010-11 ProLeague All-Stars were chosen through a mixture of fan voting and KeSPA Selections. Fan Voting: firebathero, Flash, Fantasy, Jaedong, YellOw, Bisu, BeSt, Reach, Stork, Anytime KeSPA Selections: ToSsGirL, Leta, Sea, Midas, ZerO, Calm As you can see, the second you allow fan voting, an All-Star game loses credibility in terms of being a showcase for the best players of the season. Wisely, KeSPA can step in and select players who contributed strongly to their teams during the seas... Oh wait, they picked TossGirl. Yeah, it's basically just a circus. For the sake of presenting it as a competition, the players were split into two teams. Team Passion, led by Coach Lee Ji Hoon of KT Rolster. Bisu, Fantasy, Best, Zero, Leta, Calm, Anytime, FBH Team Challenge, led by Coach Park Yong Woon of SKT1 Flash, Reach, Stork, Sea, TossGirl, Midas, Jaedong The All-Star Game A best of five series, where no one ever plays their main race, hardly any money is on the line, and someone actually has to play against TossGirl at some point. It all seems entirely meaningless, until you realize that CHATTING IS ALLOWED. Game 1: Stork(Challenge) vs FBH(Passion) on Fortress SE + Show Spoiler [Match Report] + As the game began, the camera focused to take a shot of JD, Gorush (for some reason on the player bench), and JD sitting side by side. I yelled “JULY YOU TRAITOR,” then remembered that I this is an SC II site now. The players picked random as is common for all-star games, with FBH drawing Zerg at 12 while Stork got his main race Protoss at 3. Chatting commenced very soon. Stork: Let's play a fun game. FBH: Keke, I don't wanna. Stork: lol FBH: Somehow, I feel like you got your main race. Stork: I think you're Terran. FBH: lol. Stork: Where are you? I wanna see quick. FBH: I started on an isle -_-;; Stork: -_-;; Neither player was lucky with their initial scouting on the four player map, so Stork ended up having to open gate-gas in main against FBH's blind 12 hatch expand. By the time Stork scouted out FBH's race, it was too to change his strategy. Understandably, he was very displeased. Stork: .. Stork: The heck is this T_T. Stork: Zerg of all races. FBH: HAHA FBH: I've long awaited this day. Stork: If I lose this game, what should I do? FBH: Enlist. Though I would say Stork would have instantly died to 3 hatch speedling in a normal game, it wasn't really surprising to see him send a single zealot to start harassing in an event match. As it turns out, FireBatHero sucks at Zerg and loses drones to 1 gate pressure. While he scrambled around trying to get rid of a single zealot, he sneakily sent a drone to the 5:00 isle to expand. FBH: Come on, man. Stork: I think you did well to main Terran. *kills some drones* Stork: Your lings, it's like the AI is controlling them. Stork went for the rarely seen gate-forge-stargate build, plopping down a cannon for defense while building scouts. FBH was technically performing the correct counter by going three hatch lair with a hydralisk den, so it was too bad he really really sucks at Zerg. As his opponent was still reeling from one base pressure, Stork sent his first scout in. FBH: This is too much. Stork: I think it would be fine if you GG'd now. FBH: Can't we play a longer game? Stork: You're gonna look bad. *Scout flies* Stork: Hey look at this, scout micro! With some pretty nifty scout micro, Stork is able to kill most of FBH's overlords and just impoverish him in general. FBH: Fun? Stork: Fun ^^ Stork appeared to be playing on auto-pilot at that point, casually cannoning up his natural choke for a possible future expansion. With the game nearly won, it looked liked he was just going through the motions. After a little bit more scout pecking, Stork gathered up the gateway units he had gathered from his single gateway for a game ending assault. However, had one last card to play. Four lurkers were morphing outside his main, undetected by Stork. As zealots, dragoons, and scouts stormed into FBH's natural, the four lurkers deftly rank past several cannons and straight into Stork's main. Stork: Hul, what's this? FBH: LOLOLOL Storks decision to continue demolishing FBH's main revealed an unfortunate bit of information: He did not know about FBH's 5:00 isle expansion. FBH: In the Art of War, there is a saying... Stork: ?? FBH: If you know your enemy, and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss. FBH: You don't know me. *Spore colonies his island* It also becomes apparent that Stork has not saved up any money for a Nexus either. Having wiped out FBH's 12:00 main and natural, Stork's Scouts finally started to search the map for hidden expansions. FBH: Hello, my love. Stork: wjkqbgasopdnq Out of money, and having only Scouts available to attack the island, Stork GG'd out. Team Passion: 1 - 0 : Team Challenge Game 2: 3v3 Handicap Relay Match Reach-Midas-Sea(Challenge) vs Anytime-Calm-Zero(Passion) on Andromeda Loser Penalty: Eat an entire lemon + Show Spoiler [Match Report] + Reach and Anytime stepped forth as the first runners from each team. From a double-random start, Team Challenge drew Zerg at 5:00, while Team Passion received Terran at 2:00. With not much else to do early on, the chatting was fierce. Anytime: Hyung, they must have picked Andromeda as the map so I can send you there. (Note: The word for "rape" in Korean is similar in pronunciation to the word for travelling/siteseeing. So instead of saying someone got "raped," Koreans will say "got sent on a trip" instead. The further the trip, the worse the humiliating. The star Andromeda is often brought up as the destination for particularly brutal beatdowns.) Reach: Andromeda, I'd like to see it. Send me there. Anytime: K, sell your house. Reach: lol, insolent kid. Reach: Your insolence is the same, past and present. Anytime: Hyung, we joined and left the military together. Let's drop the formal speech. Reach: I'm gonna pause the game and go over there. Anytime: Isn't it enough that you beat me so much when we were in the army? You wanna keep doing that now? Meanwhile, second runners Calm and Midas played rock-paper-scissors for a handicap. Winning clean with scissors over paper (do you think if Calm and Fantasy played RPS, they could somehow make it as unwatchable as their BW games? I'm betting that they would tie 32489 times in a row, before Calm would have to forfeit after spraining his fingers on a particularly aggressive scissor call) From a table full of amusing props, Clam picked a left-handed baseball mitt for Midas to wear. As for the game itself, Team Challenge went for an overpool three hatch (expansions at mineral-only and regular natural), while Team Passion went for a regular Rax-CC inside the main. Playing a matchup totally foreign to him, Reach's sense of star seemed to desert him. Reach: Meh, I thought you would rax-CC. Hmf, using such an old build instead. Anytime: Huh, I am rax-CCing. Reach: Oh, really? Lol First Switch - Passion: Reach - Midas, Challenge: Anytime - Calm Calm: First, I'm sorry. I made it so you can't even chat. Midas: jkhgjkui The game progressed to standard Terran Bio vs 3 hatch mutalisks for Zerg. Midas actually showed some pretty decent mutalisk micro for a moment or two, but decides not to commit to harassing while he's forced to play with one hand. Calm on the other hand, was content to passively mass M&M tank, perhaps feeling a bit guilty about applying pressure to his handicapped opponent. Zero beat Sea in RPS for their next penalty, and picked a thick motorcycle glove for Sea to play with. However, this time it was a right handed glove, going over Sea's mouse hand. Second Switch - Passion: Midas - Sea, Challenge: Calm - Zero Zero: Damn, supply blocked by Calm. The action looked like it was stepping up, but events outside the game stole the camera spotlight. As Reach and Anytime prepared to square off in a RPS battle, TheMarine butted in from the announcers table and suggested they arm-wrestle instead. Reach became more than a little excited with the idea, and started to clear the table to make space for an impromptu match. Anytime declined the best he could, but he gave into the demands of the audience. With the crowd roaring for blood, Reach crushed Anytime and almost knocked the table over in a one-sided victory. Returning to in-game action, the Challenge Team was starting to take an advantage. A roaming M&M force took down a third gas attempt by Team Passion, while several small skirmishes also favored the higher income Terran team. Just before the switch, a large Terran force came down and set up position just outside the Zerg natural. Third Switch - Passion: Sea - Reach, Challenge: Zero - Anytime Anytime entered wearing a set of handicap items. First, a mask reminiscent of the movie "Scream," and second, a cat paw glove on his left hand. It was unclear whether it was the handicaps or simply Anytime's inability to play Terran that threw away the lead for Team Challenge. During his few minutes in command, Team Challenge managed to lose their contain while seeing their Zerg opponents go up to four gas hive. In the space of five or so minutes, Terran went from containing to being contained. In the handicap area, Calm lost RPS to Midas this time around, and was forced to wear a rather glamorous mask and a pirate hook on his left hand. Fourth Switch - Passion: Reach - Midas, Challenge: Anytime - Calm Calm seemed to have a ton of trouble fastening his mask, which resulted in the awkward situation where Zero had to stand behind and continuously hold the mask against his teammate's face (Anytime would swap in halfway through). There was in fact, a game still going on somewhere abouts, but it seemed besides the point by then. With Zerg on multiple base hive and Terran still stuck on two gas, it was going to be a contest of how many more funny handicaps we would see than the actual result. A huge amount of tanks on the terran natural cliff meant we would need to wait for another switch's worth of tech units before the game ended. You couldn't really blame Calm for cheating by sticking a finger out beneath his hook-hand to use the keyboard. With his team down so much, and anytime sitting right behind him still holding a mask to his face, it would have been tough to feel any seriousness in the situation. Fifth switch – Zero and Sea enter OGN finally ran out of handicap props, and the players sat down to finish the game as seriously as possible. However, it was pretty much a done game for the Zerg Team Challenge. Sea lost a gazillion ultralisks trying to attack up the tank-guarded cliff, but it didn't matter much. Eager to conclude the game, Zero moved out with his force, got annihilated, and GG'd. Team Passion : 1 - 1 :Team Challenge After the game, Team Challenge would take the first loser's penalty of the night: To eat an entire lemon each. Some pics would better explain. Game 3: JD vs Fantasy on Circuit Breaker Penalty: Losing team drinks a glass of concentrated fish extract + Show Spoiler [Match Report] + The original penalty was for the losing team to drink a combination of juiced bitter vegetables, herbs, and other healthy things. Though that drink would be a little unpleasant to drink, Coach Lee found it too boring for his tastes. Still reeling from eating an entire lemon, he wanted a little payback. The stakes were upped on his suggestion: Drink a glass of gganari aek-jut, a kind of concentrated fish juice used in Korean cooking. Though the flavor profile is different in a lot of ways, anyone who's had Thai fish sauce will get the basic idea. The two players swapped main races for the game, JD getting Terran at 5:00, while Fantasy started at 8:00 as Zerg. JD: Oh, killer nerves right now. Fantasy: Nervous, more than when I play terran. JD went for a risky CC first build, while Fantasy did a standard 12 hatch expansion. Fantasy's scout OL would soon discover JD's greedy build. Fantasy: Wow. I knew you'd do that. JD: Flash suggested it. As expected, the players took a little time to get used to their new races. JD: Ah, supply blocked. JD: Man, Terran is so good. Fantasy: What's good about them? JD: Totally good! How could I lose? Fantasy: It feels like 4 rax to me... Indeed, Fantasy read his opponent correctly as JD was going up to 5 rax in his base, a trademark Hiya TvZ play. Against Fantasy's 3 hatch spire, JD utilized his build fairly well. Though he refrained from any pressure before spire timing, he used his large M&M count to take down Fanta's 11:00 expansion attempt. Fantasy also did a good job at using his off-race units, as he exploited a hole in JD's turret placement to cause some trouble. After taking care of 11:00 and cleaning out his main, JD stopped to reflect. Jaedong: Hey, I'm not as bad as I thought. Fantasy: Zerg is hard. JD sent his roaming marines to take down another morphing hatch at 2:00, but this time Fantasy had lurkers already in place already. While JD was busy typing the msg “Terran sim city is hard,” his marines clumsily walked over the lurkers and got mostly annihilated. Despite his success in taking out Fantasy's first expand attempt, it was obvious that Jaedong wasn't pressuring nearly enough with his late-tech M&M build. Fantasy had 2:00 secured while getting up to defiler tech in his main, which meant the momentum would shift very soon. There was a game clinching window for Fantasy, but it took him too much time to get used to defiler micro. He could easily have exploited JD's overall out-of-positionness to nullify the Terran natural with lurker-defiler, but his lurkers went comically ahead of the defilers and only had their corpses covered by dark swarm. At the same time, Fantasy could not retain map control even with a superior army, and gave up a naked 9:00 expansion to JD's roaming M&M. The game was pretty much a mess at this phase of the game, a little Clam vs Fantasy-ish in fact. Too busy trying to adapt to their off-race tools, the concepts of offense, defense, placement, and any kind of strategy in general were lost on JD and Fantasy. While the game was too tireful to seriously watch or take notes on, it turned out that Jaedong was a bit luckier than Fantasy at choosing where to deploy his army. Fantasy didn't attack anywhere important for Jaedong, while JD was actually hurting Fantasy's economy. After JD started to amass science vessels, the game turned clearly in his favor. A very mannered Jaedong refrained from humiliating his opponent with BCs, and Fantasy GG'd out when it was obvious he had no more moves left. JD: I feel so good, so great! Team Passion : 1 - 2 :Team Challenge Coach Lee took one for the team and drained the entire glass of fish extract by himself, though he had to refrain from talking afterwards to avoid stinking up the studio. Game 4: Yellow + TossGirl vs Leta + Best on who cares what map it's a god damn 2v2 Penalty: “20 second couple sexy dance” Oh you Koreans. + Show Spoiler [Match Report] + Before the game, Leta had a special announcement to make. "Today I will play my main race, Zerg. When I was a trainee, my coach and manager said “you're too good at your main race,” you should Terran instead. I changed to Terran, so that e-Sports might develop. If I had kept playing Zerg, JD might not be here today. I'll play Zerg today, for JD. The match setup was taking far too long for some reason, so OGN went into time-kill mode with audience interaction. The first two audience members interviewed turned out to be female JD fans. One of them had an orgasm as she described how hot Jaedong's furious muta micro eyes were. Another fan got to comb his hair..... what? On the other hand, FBH got to have an intense staredown with his male fan. Don't ask me what his fan request was. When at long last, the game finally started, there was immediately another disruption. Leta typed ppp, prompting the referee to pause the game. In the pause game screen, Leta went into total spam mode, filling the screen with constant P's until the referee finally came to his booth to check out the problem (as you guys know, Leta was once disqualified for typing "pp" instead of "ppp" as required by procedure.) With the referee in the booth, Leta began to furiously complain. After arguing at length with the referee, Leta gave up and just sat down with a look of disgust. There was no mic in the booth, so we could only guess the content of his complaint. Upon exiting the booth, the KeSPA referee made his official call. "This is the first time I've seen this kind of situation before, so I think that instead of making the decision here, I'll let Leta explain the situation himself and make his own decision” Leta was passed the official referee badge, and came out to address the audience. “Now that I'm wearing the official referee badge, I've decided to switch myself for a player of my choice.” And just like that, Leta disappeared backstage. At the end of a lengthy disappearance, he reappeared, with... OSL Stargirl Seo Yeon Ji in hand! (you know, those eye candy booth girls) BOOOOOOO!!! Ok, only I said that. The mostly female audience seemed pretty neutral about it, but at least two people were pleased. Best: Thanks Leta! Yellow: Thanks Leta (2)! TossGirl: What am I, chopped liver? (okay, she didn't actually say that) Anyway the game started with Leta-SeoYeonJi as Teal zerg at 5:00, TossGirl as Terran at 2:00, Best as Protoss at - You know what? It's a god damn 2v2, one of the players is not even a progamer, one player is a progamer who plays zero games a year, and you expect me to actually write about the GAME? Yellow and TossGirl won the game. Team Passion : 1 - 3 :Team Challenge As for the dance penalty, Best, Leta and Seo Yeon Ji were so terrible I'll stop talking about this game now Interlude: True-False Quiz + Show Spoiler [Quiz Report] + It sucked Game 5: Flash vs Bisu on Benzene Penalty: Winner free-hug with 5 female audience members Loser free-hug with 5 male audience members + Show Spoiler [Match Report] + For the grand finale, Flash and Bisu went for a main race battle. Flash: Can I play serious? Bisu: Sec, lemme fix my mouse. Bisu: If we play serious, then.. hmm Flash started bottom left while Bisu began top right on Flash caught up with a CC off just one vulture, but there was no denying his economic disadvantage. Bisu predicted his opponent's response perfectly, taking a normally risky expansion at the 2:00 with no threat of pressure at all. On the other hand, Flash seemed perfectly okay with playing passively, getting an armory and academy for what appeared to be his famous defend+upgrade TvP style. Though Flash had won plenty of games with this strategy, it did start to look rather bad. Not expecting at all for his opponent to take the 10:00 base, he misjudged Bisu's expansion to his mineral natural as his third base. Bisu's economy was actually a full base ahead of what Flash imagined, and Flash was playing too passively as a result. Flash slowly pushed out to his own mineral natural, unaware of the impending macro boom for Bisu. Unable to restrain himself, Bisu slyly hinted at his hidden advantage. "This. doesn't. seem. like. Flash. Don't go easy on me now." Bisu was content to go for fairly late arbiters while focusing on his land army, not feeling any real need to be aggressive. Flash amused himself with a single dropship that did a decent bit of probe damage, but the most important result was that it scouted out Bisu's hidden 10:00 expansion on the way back. Meanwhile, Bisu was expanding to positions all over the map, and it seemed that Flash really needed to start asserting himself with his 2/1 mech ball. We got a glimpse of Flash's blindingly fast handspeed as he moved in to clear out the 10:00 base first. Wait. One. Second. That's NOT Flash! That's BISU! Troll-kings Flash and Bisu had tricked the audience (alongside the troll-abilitating OGN), fooling them into thinking there would actually be a serious main-race battle at an all-star game. Flash had been playing Protoss, and Bisu had been rolling with Terran all along. Needless to say, I immediately lost interest in the match. After reflecting on the match a bit, I suspect that OnGameNet actually messed this one up by going to first person views. The players kept up the charade in chat long after the audience figured it out, so I think that perhaps the entire match was supposed to be played under a shroud of trickery, with the twist only being revealed at the end. OnGameNet had a real M. Night Shyamalan moment in the works, but poor camera direction ruined their opportunity. Oh yeah, Flash/Protoss won. Team Passion : 1 - 4 :Team Challenge This score might be wrong, I didn't double check. It's the ALL STAR GAME. If i asked you who won the Pro-bowl, NBA All-Star Game, MLB All-Star Game, Carling cup, Australian Open mixed doubles, etc last year, you wouldn't know the winner, much less the score. So with a little bit of song and dance to lighten the mood, we head into R5 And indeed we are heading into Round 5! Not only are we back to the normal Proleague Format now, but we have two new maps, and three of the maps getting major revamps. Here's swanized with his first impressions on these maps. Map Analysis by swanized Beltway One of the two new maps released for round 5, Beltway looks pretty traditional at first but does hold a few interesting concepts we should look over. One of the first important aspects to note is that there are only two push patterns that you can use to attack an opponent. The one marked in green and the one marked in pink. It's not possible to push through the center ( blue striped area) because all the ramps for the middle expansions are facing outwards and it's possible to be shelled by units positioned on said middle expansions. This leads to a rather circular and interesting dynamic to the map where large assaults can only be orchestrated in a circular way while smaller forces can backstab the natural through the middle. It is also important to note that there are no highground to help any kind of pushing so it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Also important to the dynamic of the map is that there is large area (marked in red) next to every natural where you can drop something to harass the natural. Mutalisk harass also looks rather powerful considering I don't think there's space to build turrets behind the minerals and marines have no way of getting to the yellow marked area since there is a temple blocking it. All in all Beltway is a rather straightforward map with a few fun ideas thrown in. It looks fun and balanced. I am eager to see how it plays out. Alternative This one though, looks anything BUT traditional. I can honestly only try to guess how it will play out because I don't remember a map that looked like this one. So the first thing to note should be that there is a rather short rush distance between each naturals. How I believe the map will play out is that the green player will use the push pattern marked in green to attack from natural to natural while the red player will push alongside the bottom. This lets both players have a much easier time defending the island expansion just by their main bases and take a rather safe third at the bottom right(red player) and the top left (green player) and each could eventually take a fourth base at the 9 o'clock and the 3 o'clocl. If the map split happens like I predicted, each player can therefore destroy their opponents yellow circled temple and back stab their opponents natural. It's also important to note just how large each player's main is and, that coupled with the fact there each player has an island expansion, means that both players are probably gonna have to incorporate some drop plays in their playbook to fit the map. That is only speculation, however, and it's really difficult to see how this map will play out because I have never seen anything like it. As previously mentioned, we are going back to the normal Proleague BO7 format. This return to normalcy isn't quite as normal as we think -- after all, players have began to prove themselves, began to slump, and even transferred to different teams throughout the year. In that case, what are we to expect from our favorite teams? Which players should we be looking out for? Here's mustaju with the voice of the people. Proleague Round 5 Expectations by mustaju The regular Proleague format brings long-awaited change to fans of all creeds. Naturally, TL wanted to find out about the expectations of every team, and so we sent some representatives two questions. One of them should even be helpful for FPL! Enjoy! Question 1: How do you think your team will adjust back to the regular Proleague format in round 5? Question 2: Name a player to look out for in round 5 and the player that's going to underperform the most. Neither can be from your team. Air Force ACE (represented by [343]) + Show Spoiler [Question 1] + ACE, with its last of a true *gasp* ace, understandably performed rather poorly in Winners' League, but closing out the Winners' League with a few wins, as well as having 3 MSL qualifiers + Show Spoiler + though firebathero and ggaemo lost in Ro32 + Show Spoiler [Question 2] + Grape may be the next big KHAN Protoss! He's getting solid and can only get better as he practices with Stork and JangBi. s2 has also been looking pretty good, but is he a flash in the pan (SKT does need a Zerg... heh). Snow on the other hand, has been rather lackluster recently for all the hype he has gotten--hopefully he can recover, but not sure if that's happening this round. Hite Entus (represented by Kenpachi) + Show Spoiler [Question 1] + Hite's main goal is to win the Proleague championship which is at the end of Season 6 and they will bring their A-Game to make it through and take the highest place possible. A burden is lifted as Hite has a good amount of consistent players unlike OZ and KT with Jaedong and Flash and do not forget that the standard format is Bo7. That would kill teams with slumping aces or a lack of decency. Fortunately, Hite is not either with everyone performing up to standard. I dont see any reason why Hite would put much effort into sniping like last season because of this. + Show Spoiler [Question 2] + Killer seemed to shine a bit in WL and it really seemed like Jaedong took over his body to continue his progaming career. Signs that minidong is finally learning from the best is shown in his recent games, whether he won or lost. Round 5, i believe will be Killer's breakout round. As for underperformance, free will underperform into mediocrity. With recent results, the only players hes beating are the likes of Pure and Canata, who both lost their consistency last season. Like sKyHigh, free was sent to the B-Team but he barely improved and he's looking to have a very grim fate ahead of him. Hwaseung OZ (represented by Avidkeystomper) + Show Spoiler [Question 1] + If we're being reasonable here, the other players from OZ have really stepped it up over Winners League and have shown to be capable of (gasp) winning games. I never got the impression that players on OZ were more or less momentum driven than other teams. And I do believe Jaedong is more fearsome with more practice. So I don't see OZ losing any momentum. However, HiyA loves to screw up whenever it's not WL so who knows. + Show Spoiler [Question 2] + >_< I haven't followed the scene too closely. I choose an SKT Zerg as one to look out for. I don't really distinguish between them so it can be either of the...3? of them. As for someone who will underperform, just taking a stab in the dark here, I'll pick Kal. Or Stats. I just have a feeling it will be a Protoss. KT Rolster (represented by TwoToneTerran) + Show Spoiler [Question 1] + I'm slightly worried that KT won't transition back into regular proleague too well -- Action's started to underperform again and Stats, despite being solid, has definitely fallen off from his double all kill height. On paper, Flash/Stats/Action/Crazy-Hydra is a very solid four man combo, and whichever rookies can fill in the 5th and 6spots. It's going to come down to either Action or Crazy-Hydra winning one game to get us to ace a whole lot. KT will definitely make playoffs, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop the #1 spot. + Show Spoiler [Question 2] + I think people need to start looking out for BaBy again. He was on a pretty long slump but he's slowly climbed back up the ELO ranks and is playing pretty viciously recently. Couple that with Mind's resurgence and WeMade might be able to to make up for a bad WL. The player I think that's going to underperform is Fantasy. He is an incredibly smart and talented player, but he will have nowhere near the winrate he should for how good he is. MBCGame HERO (represented by Ryo) + Show Spoiler [Question 1] + I think MBCGame will probably fair better now that round 5 is back to the regular Proleague format. In rounds 1 to 3 they achieved a credible 5-4 record each round but towards the end of the 3rd round their form started to drop significantly and round 4 was just a complete disaster. I think part of that was due to fatigue because players have to practice all the maps during Winners League. Two rounds of WL was just too much for a team this size to handle. As you know, there are only 5 experienced players on the MBC team now that Light has left and that took its toll on the team in round 4. In a way, not qualifying for the WL play-offs was good for the MBC team because they benefited from a longer break than the four teams which did qualify. Hopefully, in round 5, we will also get to see a couple of MBC rookies play. + Show Spoiler [Question 2] + I would really love to choose Dream.t)check as a player to look out for but he's on MBC so I can't. So I choose Grape. I don't expect a brilliant round from him but I think he will surprise quite a few people by pulling off wins against some top Zerg players. The player who's going to underperform the most (relative to his full potential) is Free. And I don't think that's even a surprise anymore nor does it need much of an explanation. Samsung KHAN (represented by OpticalShot!) + Show Spoiler [Question 1] + I believe that Samsung KHAN will come back stronger in Round 5. With most of our main players out of individual leagues (sadly), the team should be able to focus on the SPL matches. Stork will continue to provide key wins for the team as he has always done so. He will be supported by Grape, who is riding a career high momentum right now, and Brave, who can play solid games time to time. Great will learn from both his recent success in the previous MSL and his failure in the current MSL, and rise as a reasonable Zerg ace card for KHAN. TurN's always a fun player to watch, and I think experience is only making him better. KHAN's one of those teams you can't really assign a strength to either format (SWL or SPL). We have a go-to ace player in Stork, but he can't take on the world and still come out winning like Flash or something. The key lies with January's line-up magic, and as long as she doesn't feel like trolling too often, we have the talent to take on any team in the Proleague and earn a win every time. + Show Spoiler [Question 2] + Look out for Grape! He just 2-0'd his MSL group in pretty convincing fashion, and with ample experience of winning under his belt now, he has a great chance to take the #2 Protoss spot in the KHAN line-up. From the recent interview, it seems like he's the confidence to push him even farther. He's always got Stork to teach him the mastery of PvT, at the least. Forget JangBang. Maybe not Brave. It just might be time for G-G-G-Grape! Oh WTH neither can be from my team? fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu I think Ssak (SKT) will get more appearances in Round 5. By now, the SKT coach should be tired of sending auto-lose-Sun and I don't think he's quite ready to send out Afrotoss or yeOngJae on a regular basis yet. Ssak's always been pretty solid in mech-play in TvZ, but if he can show he's capable of bio-play too, he might be a dangerous Terran player. Couple that with Fantasy who recently took over KeSPA #1, SKT scary. I know that s2 ripped it up in SWL finals but he's SKTZerg so forget him. I pick PerfectMan to appear in maybe 7 of the 9 matches in round 5 and lose 6 of them. As much as I'd love to see him win and do something ridiculously embarrassing for the ceremony, he just doesn't have it. Would that be underperforming? =P SK Telecom T1 (represented by hacklebeast) + Show Spoiler [Question 1] + SKT's adjustment from WL to PL reminds me of an alligator's "adjustment" from land to water. We were fearsome on land. Sure, we looked a bit slow or awkward at times, but no one wanted to mess with us, and we got the job done at the end of the day. But now we get to move to a medium that supports our strengths, where we can utilize lightning speed and attacks that come out of nowhere. We transition from strong competitor to the thing that plagues the nightmares of the heard of gazelle that is the rest of the teams. Enough with the analogy. Two things in particular bode well for SKT: the depth, and the ace. Going 6 deep is really helpful to SKT, as SKT is the only team that could reasonably start their top 8 players. That unprecedented wealth of talent means that we can adjust not only to the racial balance fluctuation in the map pool, but also tailor fitting our line up to counter what the opponent lacks (like s2 to attack KHAN or OZ's lack of Terrans or Best to counter MBC's lack of Zerg). And second is the ace situation. Teams can be broken into two categories: the KT model of having one good player that is sent every time, or the entus model of having a rotation of pretty good people that can be subed in or out (and then there is the KHAN model of having one good player but sending other people anyway). The KT model's problem is that it is prone to sniping, and you have to hope that the ace map isn't bloody ridge. The entus model fails when they have to play an S class player that is simply better than all of their players. SKT has the luxury of two S class players that only gives a 50-50 chance of being able to snipe, while also having a large arsenal of snipers that threaten to throw a curve at the teams with an S class player of their own. So I think we will transition well. + Show Spoiler [Question 2] + The player I have on my radar for round 5 is Light. He looked surprisingly strong at times, and I think that he will see a vast improvement now that he has had enough time to adjust to a new house. I also think that Stars is a better fit for him. When teams faced the old MBC, there were only two big threats, and they were both Terran, meaning that an ace only had to effectively prepare for one player. Now that he is on a team with a strong Zerg, (and possibly a strong Protoss) he can not be prepared for as thoroughly as in the past. Underperform? Hmm, that's a little harder. The anti-team is always the downfall of my FPL . Jaedong getting sick makes him an easy target, but I'm going to go with Sea. He is by far the worst ace player who's team is in the KT model. I think that the pressure of carrying MBC is going to be too much for him immediately, and his play will suffer. If Tyson can play like he was will help, but I don't think that he can maintain that form for a long period of time. And the Super Group of Death can't help. STX SouL (represented by Carnivorous Sheep) + Show Spoiler [Question 1] + A format that rewards depth and actual team composition as opposed to one star player means STX will perform much better. Look for us in the top 3 teams. + Show Spoiler [Question 2] + WeMade FOX (represented by DropBear) + Show Spoiler [Question 1] + I feel the Proleague format is vastly better for us than Winner's League. WeMade doesn't have a star ace who can make multiple kills on a regular basis and we suffered because of that. Now though, with a lineup of many good, solid but unspectacular players I think we'll move up the rankings a bit, hopefully enough to challenge for finals. RorO and Mind are both having success in individual leagues and are in form, Midas will be back more often (one-handed muta micro!!!), BaBy is reliable, Shine is dangerous and our weaker Protoss line in Pure and LuCifer can do some damage if they get lucky! It's a pretty well rounded lineup and I'm optimistic that we'll improve. + Show Spoiler [Question 2] + I feel we'll see a resurgence from Leta. He had a horrible, inexplicable slump in Winner's League and he's too talented for that to continue. He's having MSL success so his confidence will be returning, look for Leta to start winning often. As for underperforming, I think it's going to be a sad round for Sea. He's lost his star teammate, got stuck in the MSL group of Death and will be forced to carry his team almost single-handedly. It must be hard for him right now, if he can perform strongly I'll be very happy for him, but I think he's going to slump and hard. Woongjin Stars (represented by sixfour) + Show Spoiler [Question 1] + Tricky to say how we'll adapt. I think the regular PL format suits us somewhat better, in ZerO/Light/free/Soulkey we have easily one of the top three or four lineups as far as that sort of depth goes, and if they perform to their potential, we should win more than we lose. After that, Really is probably one of the better 5th players out there, and there's quite a few players that can operate as snipers or pick up the occasional win. The problems come if one of our big four drops a game - I wouldn't particularly want to put any money on anyone in our lineup to take down an ace match right now, unless the final map was ok for Light to TvZ on if the other team is likely to send a Zerg player. There's nobody in our lineup that is of a TBLS-quality and it was a huge problem last season, and continued to plague us for a good chunk of this season as well. We ought to do well enough in the next two rounds to secure a playoff place. + Show Spoiler [Question 2] + I'd like to say look out for Horang2 - the guy has been typecast somewhat as a PvP/cheese specialist, and while that's true to some extent (if you've not seen it already, check out his game against Paralyze in the MST), I think it's unfair as his matchups against other races have improved a lot. He's on form and is getting some recognition, showing up on the Power Rank this month, and should be a regular contributor to Hite's lineup. It'd be cheating to say Crazy-Hydra I guess... As for players to underperform, I can't look past Sea. I thought MBC would be in a ton of trouble at the start of the season, with their lineup looking like Sea, Light and, er, no sorry it's gone. Now Light's left and it puts so much pressure on Sea to perform, as the rest of the lineup is weak enough that I wouldn't bet on them to get three wins between them against anyone - Tyson's been playing OK, and HyuN/Jaehoon might be alright in places, but Sea's the lynchpin. At least he'll be able to concentrate on the team leagues in a couple of weeks :-) Special thanks to all the fans for participating and answering questions! With all this information, we all want to take our shots at glory by winning Fantasy Proleague. Who is hot? Who is not? Do we buy this player, or is he a dud? Who is going to be the sleeper hit? Here is Craton with some hot tips to make your FPL team perform! Fantasy Proleague Round 11 by Craton I dub this round "The Round Of OMG WHY IS EVERYTHING SO EXPENSIVE?!" Unfortunately, since you aren't swimming in a sea of unlimited points, you're stuck compromising. The 12-9's TLBS may have dominated Winner's League, but this is Proleague time. Done are the days where your $12 pick might all-kill you 10 points in a single day, or RAK for 12. In SPL, you're looking at a maximum of 2 games per series -- budget accordingly! Of the 12-9's, all of them look very strong except Stork, who has seemingly returned to mortal levels in the past few weeks. Any of these picks will probably do well, but remember that spending 12 here is going to cost you a solid mid-tier pick. The 8's I like all of the 8's; I think they've looked very strong lately. Stats pulled 3 all-kills out of his hat, Zero and Baby have been on fire, and Kal and Hydra have been doing well, but seemingly a bit behind their counterparts. Zero and Kal each get to split their ace games with Free and Calm, respectively, so keep that in mind. Stats, despite being the little Protoss that could, is always going to play second fiddle to Flash. Hydra has been Hite's clear ace of late, and Baby is about the only thing keeping WeMade afloat, so they get the nod in the Ace category. Unfortunately, WeMade just doesn't remember how to win much these days. Zero feels like the strongest 8, but Baby and Sea look to get the most games with the lack of depth on MBC and the lack of players able to win on WeMade. The 6's Here's where the world gets a little more interesting. Paint him purple and Bogus could be the next Bud Dink and I know -- I Know -- you're all itching to put this guy on your anti team, but you should think twice about that. I can hear you already: Bogus seems to be having a huge slump, going only 2-7 in his last 9 games, but we shouldn't overlook that 7 game win-streak he had just before that and how four of his losses are to Flash x2, Jaedong, and an on-fire Baby -- people who are destroying everyone. Even with this apparent slump, Bogus ended SWL 9-8 and SPL 10-15, making him one of STX's pillars. This guy is guaranteed to get a lot of games, as well. Whether he's evolving into Cloyster or being served in a bowl of soup, Calm is always one of STX's go-to guys. Calm went 11-12 in SWL and 8-6 in SPL, making him a very average, but reasonably consistent pick. He's been floating around that 50-50 mark pretty steadily for awhile, but if Bogus gets his groove back, Calm is looking at a three-way split for Ace games. While good, 6 might be a bit much for this crustacean. Speaking of getting your groove back, how 'bout this cross-dressing Terran. Leta went from a 12-6 SPL performance to starting just 2-8 in SWL, placing him among the worst performers for R3 and one of the greatest anti picks for last round. Despite that abysmal start, Leta turned things around and finished out SWL going 5-2, nearly all-killing WeMade in the process, putting him at a 7-10 SWL performance. Leta seems like a strong candidate for both games and wins with the current hierarchy of Hite. If all else fails, at least he'll dress real pretty for you. The two Oz boys are gamble picks in my eyes; Hiya had an awful 2-12 SPL showing, but somehow dominated as a top SWL performer. Killer had a slightly more respectable 7-11 SPL showing, and an SWL record just as strong as Hiya's. When these two are winning, Oz is a beast, but history has shown us that Killer and Hiya just aren't terribly reliable. Right now, they're hot. If you pick them up, keep a close eye on their performance, as you'll want to trade them quickly if they start to hit another slump. Light is great versus zerg, decent vs Terran, but flops like a fish out of water when he meets a Protoss. If the Woongjin coach can figure out a secret formula to get him lots of Zergs, Light might dominate. A pick that could pay off, but probably not your safest bet. Soulkey has looked strong recently, but seems a bit overpriced at 6. Snow has really been struggling of late and has stats similar to Leta, only without the appearance of having found his Mojo again. I would avoid Snow, but a Snow anti still feels risky. Han (Tyson) is another player who seems to be struggling lately after a very strong peak. Han had a strong SPL at 10-6, after a rocky start, and was as high as 15-6 across SPL and SWL at one point. Recently, however, he seems to be losing more than he's winning, and many of those wins have felt rather lackluster. The 5's & 4's There are a lot of these guys, so I'll just talk about them briefly. + Show Spoiler + Free - Currently playing second fiddle to a much stronger Zero, but had an okay SPL and SWL. He's likely to get games and get some points, but he hasn't seemed like a top contender. Action - Hit or miss. Sometimes he's amazing, other times he's terrible. With KT being so shallow and him having a decent SWL showing, he's likely to get many games. Horang2 - I think Cheese2 is one of the more underrated players of Hite. He had an 8-6 SPL and 6-5 SWL, but has felt strong in recent games. He might be a bit too pricy at 5, but he's worth a good look. Jaehoon - I really don't like Jaehoon. He's on a huge slump (if you want to call it that; he had a fairly decent stint, but he's the butt of many jokes for a reason) -- of his games since the end of January, he's gone only 4-12. While he's likely to get games because of MBC's huge lack of depth, he just doesn't seem able to win. He looks like a solid Anti team pick. Hyun - Hyun's doing marginally better than Jaehoon at 9-14 and is going to get even more games than Jaehoon for the same reasons, but with his inability to win consistently and MBC looking weak, I would avoid Hyun. I don't think he's a wise anti pick, however. Movie - He's been hot recently, but Movie is always streaky. Take at your own risk. Really - Really has been flying quite a bit under the radar (it seems he always does). He had a strong 11-7 SPL showing, but only a 7-11 SWL record. Really feels about as average a pick as you can find right now. S2 - Hot recently, even dominating KT in SWL finals (8-5 SWL, 5-2 SPL), but on a very deep team. He'll get some games due to his recent strong showing (probably SKT's 1st or 2nd player in game 1), but given their depth, he feels overpriced at 5. Mind - Bland. 6-7 SPL, 8-7 SWL, very weak team. I don't like him for a cost of 5. Once upon a time Great and Jangbi were pillars of Samsung. Recently, however, they've been awful. Great has been the stronger of the two, and Jangbi's slump has been going for much longer. Many people have picked Great for anti, but I'd caution against that, as there are seemingly better anti picks. For instance, Jangbi (3-11 SPL, 4-10 SWL). My crystal ball tells me he's going to be a hot pick for anti teams this SPL. Shuttle - I feel Mr. Yoonjoong is a bit misleading, even if his name is quite fun to say. Shuttle had an 8-7 SPL showing, but 11 of these games were PvP and at a time where certain maps were essentially always PvP. Shuttle is known as a PvP sniper, but even with 11 mirror matches, he was only able to win 6 of them. Against zerg or terran, his record is much worse, so treat that 8-7 as inflated. As if the STX coach realized Shuttle's one-dimensionality, Shuttle was only given 7 games (4-3) in SWL. There aren't any big PvP maps in the rotation any more, and, counting individual leagues, Shuttle is only 4-5 since January. I would not pick him for a main team, and he might be a decent anti-team pick. M18M was statistically ACE's most consistent player in SWL, but even then only went 7-7. He didn't do much better in SPL (7-8), making him an average pick. Since ACE struggles to win matches, that diminishes his value even farther. Do not pick as an anti, but be leery of him as a main team pick. GGaemo gets the lion's share of ACE's games (22, 8-15), but only wins about a third of them. Unless he can really ramp up that percentage and offset the lack of ACE's team wins, he's not worth a main team pick. FBH fits between M18M and GGaemo. Crazy-Hydra is interesting of late. KT being shallow gives him opportunity for games and he's been doing well (6-2 of his last 8, 7-5 in SWL, 8-6 SPL). He's a strong candidate for a 4 point pick. Hero is really hard to predict. He can be a strong zerg, but he's a bit inconsistent. 8-6 SPL, 7-11 SWL. He's probably a bit too much at 4 points and with STX having a number of other choices. Turn - A gamble pick. He has been reasonably consistent (8-4 SPL, 5-4 SWL), but Coach January has been busy giving too many games to slumping players like Jangbi, Great, and Sharp, plus some games to Reality. Samsung could well lose before Turn even gets a chance to appear in a series. The 3's, the 2's, and the Bottom of the Barrel. I'll limit this to people I like or hate. + Show Spoiler [The 3s] + Best - Huge slump, works on an anti team. Saint - Bad for a long time, works on an anti team. Shine - Ah, Vindication. Outside of one streak has been a largely a bad player and is currently 8-17 since his win streak ended, plus on a weak team. Decent anti team pick. Iris - Take FBH and subtract 5-10% Flying - Gamble (1-6 SPL, 4-4 SWL). Reality - Potential (3-6 SPL, 4-3 SWL), but also a gamble. + Show Spoiler [The 2s] + Grape - Strong performances recently and potential for games with much of Khan struggling. Paralyze - Don't pick this guy. He had that one good showing in OSL and has basically not done anything since, let alone gotten games. Pure - Awful. 11 game losing streak, 2-16 of last 18. Too cheap for an anti-team pick, but in probably the worst slump of any BW progamer. Avoid. Roo (Perfective) - Had a moment of glory, but has since faded back into obscurity. + Show Spoiler [Bottom Of The Barrel] + Remember the little eSTRO terran that could? The chin to end all terran chins? How did poor Classic go from a 3-3 SPL to a 0 game SWL? If you're willing to take a bet on Classic seeing some playtime after his SWL absence, he could be pretty good 1 point pick. Anytime - It's possible he might start getting a game or two again, but I wouldn't count on much. Backho - Got a lot of SPL games and lost most of them. In SWL, he only got a single game, which he lost. Shy - Not the worst 1-point pick and he did see some games recently, going 1-2 in SWL. Tempest - Huge slump, plus low tier player of KT Teams Disclaimer: I always pick crappy teams. SKT - Deep team with two very solid anchors. They'll probably continue to do very well, after dominating SPL and SWL, but 7 is a steep cost for a team and depth means wins, not necessarily points. Realize that while Fantasy and Bisu can often pull out an SKT win, there's a good chance that the win will be a 4-3 or 4-2. Hite - The second best team in SPL and a mid-tier contender of SWL. Hite has reasonable depth with Leta and Movie appearing to return to form. If they can keep Skyhigh vs Terran and get Snow back in shape, Hite will be a strong force. Woongjin - This is a tough team to predict. Their players had pretty similar SWL performances, much closer than any other team (4 players over 9 wins and a 5th with 7). Woongjin was actually one of the stronger teams in SPL and they have since acquired Light, but their SWL performance was among the worst. The potential is there, but it's a gamble with a cost of 5. Oz - Dead last in SPL, second in SWL. Most people's first thought is that Jaedong carried the team through SWL, but not even Jaedong's back is strong enough to single-handedly flip the team that far. It actually had a lot to do with Hiya going from a massive slump to heroing it up, and Killer beating face right beside him. Jaedong will continue to be the picture of consistency, but Hiya and Killer have to keep winning for Oz to have a chance, as Oz lacks depth beyond the main three. KT - 8th In SPL, 1st in SWL. Flash continued to be consistent, but Stats is the one who really turned things around for KT. KT won 78 games: 25 from Stats, 24 from Flash, 14 from Action, and 7 from Crazy-Hydra; the rest won were 3 or less. In short, KT has no depth. Even with a dominating SWL performance, it will be very hard for KT to perform in SPL with their current reliance on so few players. STX - Floating around the middle of the pack all season, STX has hung around and been fairly consistent, even if not particularly stellar. STX will need Bogus, Shuttle, and Cuteangel to get in form if they want to do well. MBC Game - Here is where they'll be kicking themselves for trading Light. MBC has only 5 ranked players on their current roster, with two of those slumping hard, and two others underperforming. MBC could well be in the bottom rung this time around. Samsung - With so many key players struggling, it's hard to predict if Khan will be able to perform in SPL. If you thought KT's spread was bad, try this. Stork won 20 games in SWL, the next closest were Turn and Grape with 5 a piece, followed by Jangbi, Great, Reality, and Brave with 4 each. Khan has depth, but their players just can't win right now. WeMade Fox - Even with Baby donning his superhero cape, WeMade still finished 9th in SWL and had only 3 players with more than 2 wins. ACE - ACE is ACE. They just don't win much. They've looked stronger than in the past, but they were nonetheless 9th in SPL and only managed two wins in SWL, finishing 10th. Aaaand that's all. I'm a little disgusted by all the gossiping, who gives a rats ass about all of this crap? I couldn't care less if all the progamers were gay, in relations with all the fan club presidents or NK saboteurs, disney chararacters or golden submarines, and if they'd get a girl/boy friend, good for them, life as a progamer must be boring as hell anyway. | ||
