not sure police found the real amounts.

also, there may be additional money behind the curtain - like, placing $10000 bet on own loss and losing. but with this option, you don't need a broker with his pitiful $2K

As far as I can remember from threads in the past, it was stated that average progamers do not make a lot of money, some B-teamers. The exception are obviously the stars and top players, who can make quite a nice sum of money (link).

So, the financial incentive is imho rather high and manipulation not to be unexpected.

List of last name initials + game dates for fixed matches. Essentially confirms Luxury, Yarnc, Hwasin, and Go.go.

Why go.go? Is it because YTN used footage of his match against Light? There were two matches played on that date, and two Kims lost on that date (Nov 22nd '09). One is go.go but his team still eventually went down 1-3 to MBC.

The other Kim who lost is Kal. STX lost in the end cos Hwasin lost the ace match.

Officially a real sport now.

Also keep in mind that the proof or what they release of it is probably incomplete (but not necessarily inconclusive) and that most of these guys especially Savior made a lot more than a few grand as some seem to think.

Also suggesting Savior lost on purpose to Bisu seems speculation at best, but probably a bunch of crap. The money prize he can win from the league is nearly as much as the numbers they state in the article, add to that potential sponsor money and it overshadows these suggested numbers x20. Add in a little bit of honor and you got a really unlikely mix for dropping that final on purpose. To suggest otherwise without prove is pretty ignorant at this point.

And people called iloveoov the cheater terran lol

Hopefully KeSpA will withdraw the involved players' progaming licenses; confirmed frauds continuing to play would be an outrage.

I guess that after sAviOr began to slump, he looked for a easier way to make money, rather than just hard work.
All in all, for the StarCraft community, this is sad sad news.

Yes. If sAviOr had any reason to start joining these fixed matches is because of his slump. I don't see sAviOr fixing matches before - it must have come after for all the reasons stated above. Additionally, the title of Bonjwa probably helped grab the favorite position in a lot of the betting scenes, which would help him gain money by betting against himself and then throwing the match.

BTW, if you don't know, brokers for horse racing or betting on any other sport makes money when there is an upset, and only then. Most people bet on the favorite and will get a little bit of money in return for that, meaning that the broker loses a lot in the end. The first thing that comes to mind to a broker then, is how one can get the non-favorite to win, so that he can make money. That is obviously to bribe the favorite with a portion of the earnings to throw the match.

I wonder what MJY and other have to say about this. I am guessing that if they come out with not statement of their own - and continue to simply hide from the whole SC scene, then they are guilty of something.

This is a huge let down for so many SC fans.

So (P)SangHo is innocent and was demoted for just sucking? While this might be plausible, I can hardly believe the same for (T)UpMaGiC. He's always been one of the best on eSTRO.

I'm very disappointed in Hwasin. He was one of the better paid progamers at 100 000 000won. Many progamers earn only 10-20% of that but resisted the temptation.

Jail time for sure. Nice name btw. Gambling on itself is illegal in Korea. Match-fixing? Ouch.

Really, jail? Maybe for the broker, but the players might get away with a fine. For my taste, imprisonment would be a bit harsh for those small sums of money. Of course I don't know anything about Korean law.

At the very least, anyone 100% confirmed will likely get banned from esports for good. Considering the years of buildup these people put into their progaming careers (instead of school/job experience), that would really suck.
I'm going to sleep, let me get some of that carpet.
