[SC2B] Liquipedia TV: Strategy Hour
April 7th, 2010 13:40 GMT
Stream is over, thanks for watching everyone. Thanks lalush for participating, Imperator for hosting, Mystlord for the stream, Denotate for the awesome graphics and the Liquipedia nerds for doing various stuff behind the scenes.
Variation 3 (your your opponent FEs): + Show Spoiler +If your opponent doesn't canon first 10pool will kill FE on close positions. Otherwise you're left with the choice of powering drones, or roach all-in. If you choose the first:
Lair with first 100 gas. get 2nd gas early. Get 3rd and 4th before expansion hatchery pops. Deny scouting and power drones (if possible).
Make mutalisks!
Keep taking expos and powering while harassing.
Variation 4 (your opponent takes an expansion instead of being aggressive): + Show Spoiler +Stop producing hydras.
Move forward with hydras and threaten your opponent into overreacting and investing into defense, thus delaying tech.
Power drones hard. Take additional expo. Try to fend off first attack with only ground troops. If opponent goes range colossi, you'll need to tech switch to mutas at some point.
The underground testing facilities of Liquipedia's e-Science Center are always buzzing with the ruffling of papers, the whirring of gears and the occasional explosion followed by the soothing din of sirens. It is a busy place where something is afoot at any given time. Now that we have finally installed glaive wurm-proof glass in the laboratory, we are ready to follow up the release of Liquipedia II with a StarCraft 2 devoted edutainment series: Liquipedia TV. For our first episode, Liquipedia TV proudly presents: Strategy Hour.
On the show, our very own Imperator is joined by a prominent StarCraft2 player. Together, they put a build order under the microscope; discovering the logic behind it, when it works, and when it doesn't. An hour of StarCraft edutainment for you to enjoy and learn from.
For the first episode LaLuSh will be joining us, who currently boasts a 75% winrate and the #4 spot on the Euro servers. With him we will be discussing a Roachless Opening in ZvP. We will analyse a handful of replays and will try to establish a clear idea of what's going on.
Here is the basic build: do your homework and try to play around with it
During the show, we will be discussing its variations and transitions.
Afterwards, we will be taking questions from the viewers. Join #liquipedia on IRC and submit your questions to one of the channel operators.
Until then,
The Liquipedia Staff

Sounds great! I'm sure the show will be extremely beneficial to new players and current players having a hard time. I do hope to see this repeat again in the future with Terran and Protoss game analysis as well!
Thanks a lot Liquipedia!
|
this is good, i am looking for protoss version of this
|
new sc material is always good but it seems that noone is adding to the liquipedia at the moment with general purpose builds or articles, especially with terran.
|
Nice! Long live liquipedia!
|
This looks absolutely amazing! I don't know if I'll be able to catch it at the time; will there be a VOD of the episode afterwards on Nevake's channel (or elsewhere)?
|
great, looking forward to it
|
Really looking foward to this since IDK the builds
|
Same, looking forward to this. Could give additional insight into the strategies and build order mechanics of SC2 for those that don't have beta. And perhaps resolve this thread?
|
|
Good stuff
nice write up too.

Yeah that is a big problem for us at the moment. The main reason for this is that those involved in liquipedia has to spend some of the time, that we could be playing, on monitoring lp.
But we'll get there, that's a promise!

great but late for europeans

Great initiative! I am really looking forward to seeing this, and whatever you do next

For those of us who have to get up at 5:00 the next morning, having a show end after 23:00 is quite late Hopefully it will be available on demand or on youtube.
|
There's also a fairly strict policy on builds being uploaded to LP from memory: they had to be used in a tournament with a couple of supporting replays.
That'd void a lot of builds from being put up, unless people are going to post builds used by other players from tournaments (a lot of builds I'm seeing on TL are ones people that they make themselves or modify from someone else, so it'd get voided if they tried to post it).
|
great

Really hard to be aggressive with 6 lings if toss block off choke with 1 or 2 zealots. As a toss player and the rise of ling/muta strat i almost never leave my choke, let alone attack without a cannon in atleast my mineral line

To those of you that are asking: we will have it on demand in some fashion after the show.

2nded! It's perfect!
Only reason I feel the need to second this is that I'm very pleased with the scheduling of recent tl.net events. Thought you should know it's appreciated.
|
Haha, the glaive wurm/scientist reminded me the bw mission where you have to kill the terran scientists. Was much harder than the finale imo cos of the low resources and starting on an island where all expansions are already taken.

Hah yeah, no adult would ever have something like a job that they need to take seriously, and can totally spend a Sunday night watching shows about video games.

Hahaha awesome graphic. As to build orders in wiki2, we can't simply accept any build- check out the Strategy Article Policy

To the Protoss players: we'll try to look at this from the Protoss side as well, but aside from that, if this catches on you'd still better watch so you know what's coming for ya

can't wait for a terran based show!
|
Looks awesome! Can't wait to see these games as a toss player.
|
I hope I won't have to go to job early in the morning on Monday. I want to see it live

Learning about the reverse matchup isn't a bad thing at all... as terran I can't benefit nearly as much as you can.
|
Can't wait for this. I didn't decide which race I play, yet, but it's most likely gonna be Zerg. So this will be especially useful and educational for me.
|
|
Will definitely participate if I'm around, LaLuSh is awesome!
On a side note, someone please keep Pholon away from photoshop.

Interested to see what his thoughts on patch 8 are. Zerg seems the hardest race to play by far atm but maybe they can be good if I do a diff bo?
|
really nice. Thx. Will try to catch that for sure!

Sounds great, and whoever made the frontpage picture for this is my hero.

dont be noobish. U guys have been playing bw for at least 10 years and still writing building orders ? lol. what if my oppenent is going 2 gate zea rush ? Should i be aggressive with 6 lings as well... omg. SC2 is, if u havent noticed yet, is a game of counter. So building orders change every game. -Map. -Distance. -The count of peons. -His building order. and finally, your feeling and experience on what he will do. changes your strategies and building order. And that happens every game. This kind of vision can make you a good starcraft player. Trying to play building orders by memory just make you a good newbie thats all.
|
Great idea =)
Could you please, please upload as vod? That would be awesome!

Lol the view is pausing for 10s then resuming but audio is excellent?
|
Very nice! Will have to try that as my main opener vs. Protoss now Like the early safeness of the build with it's flexibility between switching to hydras and possibly mutas or roaches if need be within the same general build.
|
Yes the video was always lagging. The strategy guide was still useful. Since I am Zerg, I will try out the Overpool roachless opening.

"Power drones" meaning pump drones from larvae?

Wholeheartedly disagree.
Sure the energy and passion does not equal day9 (but who does). What it does have is VERY structured explanation of the build and the games flow. Excellent educational video for zerg and protoss players alike.
If you're gonna make BS comments that are not constructive and lack substance please do it somewhere else.
|
I really liked it, was a bit crappy because of livestream having issue's again but hey I really liked this initiative, please keep up the good work!!
Thanks!!

Wow why so much hate? I got a ton out of this. Thanks to everyone who put the work into this.
|
While watching Day9 is more entertaining, I really enjoyed this first episode and I feel like its more "in detail" than Day9.
To make a way exagerated analogy, Day9 is like watching Dr.house while this feels like actually being in school getting a lesson in medecine. (Both are still awesome tho!)
|
Woooot! Need to get back to this! xD
|
Don't have the game... but this helps heaps anyway.
Thanks!!
|
I just got my beta key today and started some action. Being a Zerg player (so far), this VOD helped me TONS and TONS to understand the ZvP matchup!
Great job, I am really really looking forward to more of these!
|
Wow...that opening song, 2 minutes of torture. Please, someone just grab a drum machine or something, that song was awful. Wow...i can't say enough bad things about that song.
|
The videos are very unprofessional and unenjoyable to watch. They need a serious cleanup and and a more compact, rich format.
