gg folks.

Really enjoyed this one. I really like the idea behind having a half-player in Hari, who can do some stuff, but not everything, and maybe isn't trustworthy. I liked silent nights + QTs. I think in the same vein as having scum powers to mess with Hari's interaction with thread, a different spin on this game might give scum powers to mess with the QTs. Either to make sure a scummer was in the main QT one day, or for one person to be able to pull in another if ever put into a QT. Something to make the QTs a bit minigame-ish, where they can really try and influence townie thought in the QTs.

rayn you are a dirty liar, and I can't believe I forgot to tell Boone that you'd claimed cop to me and to watch you.

whaaaaaaaaaat

So, in QT, I had a weird question to rayn about whether if he were a Thug he would be koshi.

We played in another game, Thug Life Mafia. A guy named Koshi was a cop in that setup. Essentially, I wanted to ask if he was a cop without you knowing it, cuz I'm sneaky and also an idiot sometimes.

rayn started off by saying he didn't want us posting in QT until we were 100% confirmed. There's no way to confirm people except with flips, so i thought he MIGHT be a cop. He made one or two references to cops/checks in thread, making me a little coppier on him. Given that you claimed medic, I thought maybe things WERE kinda heavily themed, and our QT had a couple power roles to try and lead town/win the game.

I didn't trust you FULLY at that point, so I didn't want you to know. And i MEANT to tell you before N1 was up that was what had happened, but forgot. Was focused on not sucking so hard in another game.

2) It's supposed to be "live," however obviously there were times when it wasn't. I was the only person updating the spreadsheet votes but if all the hosts are in on it then that probably wouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, that's true.

Maybe there can be a way to know the "last time the voting count was updated" kind of thing perhaps (besides the "last time modified" thing from Google Spreadsheet itself).

3) My thread vote counts showed unvotes so I wasn't able to simple copy/paste the spreadsheet vote count into the thread. I don't know what people's opinions are regarding that, if enough people don't care it would make the vote count process a lot easier. I liked having links to every day and night post all in the same place without having to edit the OP. (Actually, it's probably the same amount as work except that the spreadsheet FORCES you to take care of doing upkeeps on time.)

Hmm....I think there might be a way around this.
Basically, what if, instead of putting the current votes, you just have a long list with the history of votes/unvotes that you update? Every new vote/unvote, you add a new row with the vote or unvote (basically 2 columns, one for the guy voting, other for the guy he is voting).
The votecount can have the unvotes in there as well (though you'll have to tell me exactly how it works ).
It would also be a step forward for the "Votecount for any moment in time" thing.

If you agree, I could see to do something about it later perhaps (will have to see how to make it work in the spreadsheet first though)

You 100% claimed cop.

rayn, if you were a thug this game would your name be Koshi?

then a couple minutes later

rayn rayn, I'm actually really interested in this, just for a moment.

(1) /m36 ? (my question)

(2) If no, how do you propose we magically confirm people in here?

And you said you would be koshi, a couple times. And I hinted that I was saying something in particular

/m38 YOU UNDERSTAND ME?

Then later I have you as possibly scum "if you're lying."

I don't know how you can say i claimed a cop when i had no idea what your question was about and i really did not pay attention to it and just answered something. I have no reason to lie because the game is over.

EDIT: I mean i can see now what you mean and i have to say it was quite brilliant. It's just that you have to know the other person really well. I had no idea what you meant and if we were both town and alive later on that would have probably been a disaster haha.

Hahaha, if we were both town things would have ended as usual, with both thinking the other was mafia.

Also, looking back, I could have put way more emphasis on Thug or something, it didn't come across as strongly as I wanted it to.

I think the timing of my vote on Grack was pretty good. Dandel had just said he was switching, but didn't seem convinced. If I hadn't voted there, I think town mislynches. I thought the same at the time and that's why I PM'd thrawn immediately. Perhaps, to take away this sort of swing power from my vote, I think it should actually have been secret until the final votecount was posted.

As a side note, I also think this role was perfect for me. I didn't have to interact with townies, didn't have to argue against my scum reads, and I could just watch how people played independent of my opinion of them (for the most part). I still had relatively meaningful impact on the game as a whole, and as the game drew longer, my ability to influence and lead town would have gotten stronger. Being objective in a game has always been the hardest thing for me to do, and this role allowed me to do it while also actually being invested in the outcome and having a hand in it. I also didn't have to spend a ridiculous amount of time in the thread posting to get people to think I was town, the only time commitment was during the night phases where I could easily catch up and decide my night actions.

What I want to ask is, do people think I used the role well? I think the check was good, because reading Slam early is difficult for me and I did actually think he would live long enough for the check to be meaningful, and thus possibly take a bullet as a player who otherwise might not. The roleblocks I used obviously missed, but I used them on two different people thinking that I might get a chance to see one claim the block and the other not, sort of as a second cop check. If I had known there was an anti-Seldon role earlier, I might have used it differently.

As for the posts, I don't know what else could have been useful besides reads or claims. I had a very limited number of words, so clarity was paramount so that town wouldn't misunderstand me. I basically had to focus on talking about scummy people to point town in the right direction. Is there any other way to use the posts?

Yeah I thought the role would suit you pretty well.

btw, roleblocks weren't notified, your roleblocking was 100% anti-mule.

it's a shame we never got to see the telepathy ability because your follow up post would probably be pretty funny and cause town a lot of headaches. also rayn's seldon vote was of course meant to be used to swing lynches, but I also envisioned it being used in a situation that doesn't really have much effect on the lynch but does end up ruining the real seldon's credibility. like say rayn throws in his seldon vote for VE during palmar's random lynch stuff. it will mindfuck town as they hadn't seen anything about seldon yet, and then when you show up for your first message at the d2 post you'll have to let town know that the vote didn't come from you, and of course that probably ruins your credibility right from the beginning.

You were basically an observer, that when you start yelling "GODDAMIT TOWN WTF ARE YOU DOING, WHY AREN'T YOU DOING X AND Y AND Z? If only I could yell at all of you how stupid you are", you actually have the chance to go "Wait, I CAN".

No joke: I was going to create a fake QT with me and VE and Austin in it and make up a whole conversation about how they trusted that I was town based off of the Joey interactions and they decided to make me the portal to Hari Sheldon, who was all the dead townies. I decided against it because it would be too hard.

A little point about this game:

It really, really proves the value of NOT GETTING LYNCHED as town. For some reason staying alive, just like sheeping, is a pretty devalued skill in mafia. Everyone wants to focus on amazing reads and shit, and while those are great, the main job of any townie can simply be to not get lynched. If townies don't get lynched town wins the game by default.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Just sheep VE and win.
if I had to describe his playstyle, it'd be a coked up rabbit with the attention of a goldfish injecting caffeine into himself directly through an IV drip. it's like a reel of random animated shorts where things just blow up randomly

I think it's stupid to assume there is a player in the game who actually is not in the game IMO.
The only thing i could discredit on N1 was a check on Killing, there was nothing too dangerous GIVEN THE PLAYERS IN THE GAME.
Later on i could have discredited EVERYONE IN THE GAME, because yes, i had a plan.

The only way i could discredit you was the telepathy. Now do you suggest i discredit you on N1 by using the telepathy ability when you can just go "hey there is a scum dude who can fuck up with this so pay attention, also i am town so this probably means..". Basically the ONLY thing i could do i to CANCEL your effect (or making it WIFOM - ane even that is only MAYBE), which i did not know in the first place because i thought you were a player in the game (because everything else is just dumb).

The extra vote was just dumb how it worked. The only thing it could do is to incriminate my team unless you succesfully use it on LYLO. Otherwise it's just a proof that there is a mafia dude who has an extra vote, and my role said it was one shot so the best way to use it is on LYLO. Why should i assume i get ANOTHER vote when i use it??

So basically we were playing 11-3 with no ability to cooperate and a cop who could not vote but also could not be killed and has an ability to watch the game as an outsider (which usually makes making reads easier because the mafia does not even fucking know they are playing against you).

I would like to see marv roll mafia in a game like that and then he can come tell me i "whine like a little bitch".
