I'm surprised by this. I find his language and his post juvenile and abhorrent. Though I will always modkill someone who does that in any game I host, I suspect that few other hosts or players agree with me on this. We can discuss it more fully after the game is over but I'm fairly sure only I care about these things.

I think we should introduce like hosting ban reductions. So like hosting = - 1 or - 2 bans or w/e since it gives back to community and enables a quicker comeback
Maybe - 2 for hosting and - 1 for a good co host
|
I'd rather see hosting be -1/2 ban preemptively with a limit of -1 able to be saved up at any time by a person. That way, smaller offenses aren't as bad for people who contribute actively, but larger issues (e.g. things that require 2+ games) still have some effect. Maybe -1/4 for cohosting since that's generally only vote counts nowadays.

Special Ban List InitiativeThe forum has been slowing down and as multiple long time players are and have been on the ban list for quite a long time, we have decided that this would be a good time to offer a one time deal to clear some bad records and reduce the size of the ban list while getting the TL Mafia Library up to speed. How does it work?In exchange for decreasing your ban count by one, you can contribute to the TL Mafia Library. First, post in here saying you are doing your service for your ban. Next, head over to the TL Mafia Library thread. For one ban, you will need write summaries for Three TL Mafia games which aren't currently in the library. The Mafia XV summary is the guideline for what we expect when you write a summary. Example: + Show Spoiler [Summary] +TL Mafia XV took place in October 2009 and was hosted by Ver and Qatol. It was an invite game with 21 players, 4 mafia, pms and no clues. The most significant set-up feature was the presence of detectives with 6 possible sanity variations. Day one included a mayor and pardoner election. The first day was comprised mostly of discussion of the set-up and how best to utilize the blue roles. Additionally, BC let loose his inner poet and Chezinu came to the shocking discovery that L + Ace = Lace. Several people put forth lackluster mayoral campaigns and pyrrhuloxia won by a tiebreak over Ace. As promised, pyrr chose to lynch motbob who was inactive for personal reasons. Ace responded by pardoning motbob and saving him from the lynch. The following day, Ace claims detective and outlines a plan to check the bodyguard's alignments. After town becomes suspicious of Ace's actions, he proceeds to call a bunch of people dumb and posts a monster wall of text. In response, town lynches Ace with a whopping four votes. In comparison, seven people decided to abstain from voting. At night, Dreamflower saves the day by taking a scummy judge with her to the grave using a well placed mad hatter bomb. At the start of Day 3, L claims to have been hit by mafia and medic protected. Additionally, he claims vet and to be in contact with his medic ally via PMs. In a close vote, Chezinu is lynched for being Chezinu and flips scum. A true tragedy for the Brown. Reduced to a single kp, mafia is now in a horrible position, which is made even worse after their only hit is blocked. + Show Spoiler [Night Hit PM] +From: L [ Profile | Buddy ] Subject: Self Bombing: Date: 10/31/09 10:08 I kill sugi, who is most likely medic protected and has a bomb on me.
Possibly the ballsiest move ever. Expected chance of victory:
0. On day 4, Midori claims dt, and bc is lynched as a sanity check. He flips bodyguard and a double lynch is passed for the following day. Scum come out with a minor victory by sniping medics on consecutive nights and avoiding the day 5 double lynch. However, things came crashing down on L on day 6 as his thread presence is not enough to save the scum godfather. The mafia team proceeds to concede with the mayor pyrr being revealed as the final scum. Overall, L and Pyrr played a solid game, but was unable to overcome the early hole, which led to the town victory.
The easiest way to burn through bans that nobody really takes advantage of is just to write game summaries. They're technically part of the database thread instead of the library now, but I would assume the offer still stands. Plus, they're fun to read.

Newbie Student Mafia XII ban requests.
1 game ban for NydusHerMain for replacing out without giving a reason. 1 game ban for WonnaPlay for failure to vote twice and getting modkilled.

On June 04 2015 07:53 cakepie wrote:Requests for Newbie Student Mafia XRequesting a 3-game ban for sicklucker for violating no-PM and out-of-game communication rules. + Show Spoiler +sicklucker took offense that the last scum, a newbie player, was not conceding the game. He raised his concerns with hosts, alleging bad manner on the part of the scum player for dragging out the game. This was internally deemed not to be the case, as last scum could plausibly try to play for a mistake by town. sicklucker was instructed/warned to continue to play with civility, and urged to keep his anger in check. Instead, he disregarded host instructions, and took it upon himself to PM the last scum player to try to compel him into conceding, which he did. If sicklucker’s actions had come to light before the concession effectively ended the game, he would certainly have been modkilled. Notwithstanding sicklucker's view that the other player was wasting time and being BM (not true), or that it was the vote count rather than his PMs that forced the concession (irrelevant), breaking the no-PM rules is absolutely unacceptable. Also (note: not a playstyle complaint), his hostile D5 behavior of constantly hounding the newbie about this so-called BM cannot be condoned in the context of a newbie game, where newbies should be afforded the time and opportunity to learn, and forum regulars are urged to "act appropriately to introduce [newbies] to TL Mafia." edit (addition): Furthermore, sicklucker also engaged in out-of-game communication with a coach in the game. (Incorrectly) assuming that Half the Sky was coaching scum, he told HtS whilst playing dota to "tell my mafia scumlet to concede." In doing so, he confirmed his alignment to a coach who was, in fact, coaching two other town players involved in the endgame scenario. Again, regardless of the fact that the coach very likely sees the same solution for the game as he does, it is absolutely impermissible to mention game-relevant information outside of an ongoing game that you are in. Requesting a warning for scott31337, lynched D1 after approx 30h of inactivity and not voting + Show Spoiler +Scott would certainly have been modkilled if not for being lynched. The valid reason behind this is that his internet went down on Friday, with service was not restored until late Saturday, after the lynch. Hence, there is no outright ban requested.
However, we feel that he could have done more to find wifi or other access somewhere in order to update the hosts and other players on his situation. Allowing for school/work/social obligations on Friday, he still had a good part of Saturday left with which he could have done so; he admitted as much himself in obs. Either a brief update/excuse post in the game thread or a PM to request to be replaced would have sufficed. Letting himself be lynched/modkilled as mafia RB on D1 had a large impact on the game and his teammates suffered for it.
I've played in NSB XI, XII, and Mafia in the Himalayas successfully and would like this warning removed (although it was never added to the OP) "You can be removed from the warning list after playing 3 games with no action taken against you. " TY!
