All that effort to escape from Azkaban, to look for Harry, to try to warn him. He'd lost so much already-- his freedom, his reputation, much of his adult life-- and having become free, he failed to find Pettigrew. He failed to protect Harry. He failed to show everyone the truth. It should have been easy, once he escaped from Azkaban. Everything should have ben easy, compared to that. Somehow, though, the Dementors could SMELL him. They could always find him, and they were everywhere. No place in Magical Britain was safe. The Ministry's allies in Muggle Britain were also notified. He spent months mostly in dog form, trying to survive, trying to find Harry, trying to find Pettigrew. He never even got close. And the Aurors, they always find a way, especially when there's a bonus for the wizard who kills him. He turns a corner to another alley and finds it a dead end. The Aurors are drawing nearer, and there's nowhere left to run. Sirius has only a few moments left. He never got to finish his message, a final message for Harry, but what he has now will have to do. He flings his owl into the air, and turns back. Sirius won't fight these Aurors, not with lethal curses-- they're just doing their jobs. He goes to face his death. The enchanted parchment flips and flutters through the wind, eventually finding its way to Harry Potter's room, resting on his bed until opened. Harry, you may never know who I was or what your father and I meant to each other, but at this point it doesn't matter. And why did Vivax apparently post an intentionally misleading votecount? And why did people not listen to me and not hammer Oats? And why did Clarity apparently not care that town was lynching someone he didn't want to lynch? And why did no one decide to listen to the only person who gave a fuck about who we were lynching yesterday? uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh | ||
