Introduction:
Mafia is an educated guessing game of epic proportions. The objective of the game is to lynch or kill all mafia members before they outnumber the rest of the town. It's much like a game of poker because mafia members are also part of the town during the day and may manipulate the vote to their liking. If the mafia at any time outnumber or equal the townspeople, they win. The town's goal is to lynch all the members of the mafia.
The game is typically very active, so the thread will get big quickly. However, it is essential to read the thread to play the game. If you do not have the time or patience to read the whole thread, do not play. I will not compensate for ignorance.
Rules:
Cheating:
Cheating includes (but is not limited to):
1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information. You can also  , but only just before or after Night and Day posts.
2. Ruining the game by doing something like hand out your mafia's member list to the town.
3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role.
4. Comparing role PM times to determine roles.
5. Posting screenshots of your inbox, or really any screenshots.
6. Posting or sharing any PM you receive from a host.
7. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip.
8. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts.
9. Betting items outside of the game in exchange for in-game benefits.
10. Sharing accounts with other players unless cleared by the host in advance. Otherwise, only you may post on your account.
Cheating is not tolerated here. The punishment will be severe.

Activity:
You must post in this thread once per 48 hours while you are alive. I'll warn you first, but if you fail to follow activity rules, you will be inactivity modkilled. If you are inactivity modkilled, I will be very sad ;_;

Try to stay on-topic while playing. I'll let you know if it's off-topic.
Smurfs:
If you want to smurf, let me know. Smurfs are welcome.
Hydras:
If one of the players would like to hydra with someone else, that is acceptable. Please inform me. Your hydra can have any name, but the signature should be something like "Hydra of Blazinghand and Ange777 for TL Mafia LXI" so that people know what's up.
Spam:
Try not to spam. If it happens, it happens. Sometimes you gotta double post and so on, especially if it's a slow day and nobody else is posting. Don't worry about it too much, but try to consolidate posts when possible. If I think you're spamming I'll tell you to stop. Not stopping is strictly prohibited.
Editing:
Editing is not allowed for any reason. Editing is not allowed. Do not edit posts. You get one (1) warning for editing. After that, you will be modkilled. If you had a typo or some sort of formatting error, you can always just reply again with a fixed version and write "EBWOP" (Edit By Way of Post) at the top of it.
Inappropriate posts:
If you want to post something insulting or inappropriate and know the TL mods would have a problem with it elsewhere, don't post it here. If you do, a host will warn you or modkill you and request that you be banned from future games. The hosts have the final say on what is inappropriate. If you do not like how someone is talking to you, please PM a host, Flamewheel, or Mig before involving the TL staff. If you are unsatisfied with how the situation is resolved, then you can appeal to the TL staff normally.
As a general guideline: Stuff like "this argument is dumb because XYZ" is fine. Stuff like "you are doing ABC, which is dumb" or "you're dumb because you do ABC, and ABC is dumb" is fine. Stuff like "you're dumb. lolooloooo" is not fine. Sometimes, in the heat of the moment, things get said-- but ultiately this is a game that is supposed to be fun for everyone. Let's try to not ruin people's play experience. Insults and abrasive play happen, but it must all be oriented towards trying to win the game. Don't be that guy. The main thing is: don't insult for the purpose of insulting only. I'm very verbal about people getting out of line, so if you cross the line I will let you know.
Reporting posts:
The report button is a nice feature for regular TL, but not for this forum. We prefer to deal with things in house if possible to avoid confusion among the TL staff. If you have a problem with how someone is posting, talk to the host, co-host, GMarshal, Flamewheel, or Mig before using your report button. Please do not use your report button for anything other than inappropriate posts which you feel are not being dealt with adequately.
Ban discussions:
Please wait until this game is over to talk about modkills and bans resulting from this game.
Play to win.
This means you play your best to help your team win while you are alive and in the game. If you're not playing to win I will modkill you. But this won't be a problem, because if you don't want to win you can just not sign up k?
This also means that you cannot leave the game without a good reason without a ban. These situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis. PM your host if you need to leave the game.

Voting rules:
1. Voting is done in the separate voting thread, here: (link). Do not PM me your vote.
2. Please vote in the following format: ##Vote Blazinghand. Votes not done in the correct fashion will not be counted. I will update vote counts whenever I get the chance.
3.5. If your vote is on someone, make sure to ##Unvote when you vote someone new (you can do this in the same post).
3. No conditional voting.
4. You may vote for yourself. You may not vote for anyone dead or outside the game-- or rather, such votes will not count.
4.5. You can vote for a no-lynch if you want to.
5. This game follows an instant simple majority lynch. The instant a player has the majority of votes on him, the day ends. So if there are 8 players you need 5 to lynch, if there are 7 players you need 4 to lynch.
6. Voting by the end of a mandated cycle is mandatory. If the day ends due to a lynch, it's okay to not have voted.
7. Once a majority has been reached, please do not post until the night-post.

Anyone may sign up for this game. However, if you are a new player who has not played before, this is not a good place to start out-- check out the newbie games first. If this is your first game on TL but you have played elsewhere and want to sign up, that's fine.

This game follows the TL Mafia Ban List. If you are modkilled, your punishment will go beyond being eliminated from this game. Please refer to it for questions about your punishment. If you want to use this game to sit out your ban, please PM Flamewheel or post in the Ban List, and also type /sitout in the thread here to create a record of your /sitout.
Replacements
I love replacements, but I hope never to use them. There are 5 replacement slots, so sign up if you're interested. Replacements will be made up until the start of D3. You're encouraged to find your own replacement if you need to replace out, and if you do so, I will smile upon you.

There are no clues.
PMs
PMs are not allowed in this game. No out-of-thread communication of any sort is allowed except that explicitly okayed by the moderators. Scum will be provided a QT to talk in, as will hydras, masons, and shadowing players. Scum and Hydras may use other media to communicate but will be asked to post logs in the appropriate QT.
Time Cycle:
This game will follow a 24 hour night/deadline-less day cycle. The day lasts until a majority is reached. If enough time passes without a majority being lynched, I will post in the thread and state a deadline for a no-lynch in order to prevent horrible 3-week-long days where nothing happens. If a day happens to be long but discussion is still moving, I will not do this. Night lasts for 24 hours, and you can post at night.

Roles and Setup information
Setup Type
This is a semi-closed setup. The game setup only uses roles listed here, but how many of each role exist is a secret.
The Order of the Phoenix
Brave Wizard (Vanilla Townie): As Voldemort rises against Magical Britain, most cower in submission and do not resist out of fear for their lives. They choose a safe, quiet life-- and who could blame them? You, however, will not let justice go quietly in the night. When Dumbledore stands fast against the darkness, you stand and fight by his side. You may die, your family may die, and all may be lost, but you will have died fighting for what is right. You are a VT.
Snape (Self-Aware Miller): You've sacrificed so much-- you've sacrificed your love, your reputation, your adult life, to fight against evil. They say that Slytherins are unhappy because they plot, but they are wrong. You choose unhappiness because you alone are willing and able to do what is neccessary to stop the Death Eaters. You bear their mark, you kill in Voldie's name, but it is you who will save Magical Britain from the coming darkness. You are a townie who returns Red to checks. You are aware of this fact.
Sirius Black (Un-Self-Aware Miller) You've sacrificed so much-- you've sacrificed your love, your reputation, your adult life, to fight against evil. They say that you betrayed the Potters, but they are wrong. You will break free of Azkaban some day and see your godson, Harry, and hunt down Pettigrew and kill him for what he has done to you and your friends James and Lily. You are a townie who returns Red to checks. You are not aware of this fact. Your role PM will be a Brave Wizard PM.
Auror (Veteran): Mad-Eye Moody had once worked out how long it had taken him, in retrospect, to achieve what he now considered a decent level of caution - weighed up how much experience it had taken him to get good instead of lucky - and had begun to suspect that most people died before they got there. Moody had once expressed this thought to Lyall, who had done some ciphering and figuring, and told him that a typical Dark Wizard hunter would die, on average, eight and a half times along the way to becoming 'paranoid'. This explained a great deal, assuming Lyall wasn't lying... You have an extra night life. This is supressed if you are roleblocked.
Fawkes (Doctor): A being of fire and good, you bring motivation to the slovenly and light to the darkness. Unable to comprehend the complex thoughts of Wizards and Witches, you can still discern good from evil unfailingly-- so you stand by Dumbledore's side. Your tears have a curative power unmatched in the magical world, and you will use them as you can to help those of pure heart. Whether it be in the darkest depths of Hogwarts of out in the skies over Britain, your song is the song of hope. Each night, you can save someone from the nightkill. You can't protect the same player twice in a row. You can't save yourself.
Albus Dumbledore (Jailkeeper): Long have you lived and fought against evil, and now you are the Headmaster of Hogwarts. Although you are no longer the man you once were, you are still possibly the most powerful wizard on the planet. They say Voldemort fears no man, but they are wrong-- he still fears you. You, who struck down Grindelwald, you, who leads the Order of the Phoenix. It may be hard to run an organization from Hogwarts, but at least it is safe here. Each night, you can jailkeep someone to protect and roleblock them. You can't save yourself.
Professor Trelawney (Alignment Cop): "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches / born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies / and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not / and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives / the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies ..." Each night, you can check someone and get an alignment result back. Third party returns scum to checks. You can be Sane, Insane, Paranoid, or Naive.
Firenze (Parity Cop): Cast out of the herd for your beliefs, you chose to aid the humans in their fight against Voldemort. You can never return home, but the choice was necessary to stand fast against the darkness. You are a great seer, and although you are still getting used to your new digs, you are settling in quickly. Each night you target someone, and you're told if the alignment of your target is the same or different as your previous target. Your first check doesn't return anything, but is necessary for your later check to work. Third party is the same alignment as scum for your checks. You can't check yourself.
Cedric Diggory (Masoner): Hufflepuff Seeker and Prefect, you are a skilled duelist, a natural leader, and a kind soul. With your access to the Prefect's Bathroom you can have private conversations with others where you can't be overheard. You bend the rules, just a little, for Harry Potter to help him solve the puzzle of the second task, since he helped you with the first one. You are a loyal fellow, after all. When Voldie returns to power, you are the first to fall, but at least you die a champion. Each Night, you can select a target. Until the end of the next night, you are masoned with that target. You cannot mason the same target twice.
Harry Potter (Jack of All Trades): You are the boy who lived, the one with the power to vanquish Voldemort. As an infant, you destroyed the Dark Lord, but not before he killed both of your parents. Raised by muggles and educated at Hogwarts, you did battle against Voldemort's revenant several times, and now that he has returned to power you must stand and defeat him or die. Twice per game, at night, you can choose to use one of your powers. You cannot use the same power twice. Powers: Masonry, Rolecheck, Veteran, Medic.
Remus Lupin (Vigilante): Ex-Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts, werewolf, ally, teacher, friend, martyr. When Harry Potter needs your help, you are by his side, wand in hand, eyes front. With every casualty report you deliver and every friend you bury, the weight on your shoulders grows heavier, but you press on. You will fight and die, and your son will never know his father, but he will grow up in a safer world for your efforts. Once per game, at night, you can kill a target. If you are roleblocked or your shot overlaps with a scum factional KP, you get your bullet back. You may not shoot during Night 1.
Fred or George Weasley (Named VT): You're one of the Weasley twins! You're basically awesome, and although JK Rowling wrote your characters particularly poorly, you still come out looking pretty good. Ever notice how there's like no black people in the Harry Potter books? Well in my fanfic, Albus Dumbledore is black and so is Harry Potter, but of course I added in some new characters... You are a blue with no powers.
Town Win Condition - The town wins when there are no Mafia, Serial Poisner, or Serial Killer left in the game or nothing can prevent that from happening.
Death Eaters
Scum KP is # of scum / 2, rounded down. Scum KP is delivered factionally and cannot be roleblocked. Scum will return normal-looking roles to rolecop checks (ie Scum Vigilante returns Vigilante, Scum Goon returns Vanilla, Scum Framer returns Cop) but with the exception of the Godfather, return Red to DT checks.
Lucius Malfoy (Framer): Lucius Malfoy is the richest man in the world of Harry Potter and is happy to spend his fortune to aid his dark lord. He often bribes members of the Auror office to look the other way while his compatriots get away with any number of crimes or to imprison the innocent who oppose the nefarious schemes he so frequently cooks up as the fallen right hand of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named "What's the use of being a disgrace to the name of wizard if they don't even pay you well for it?" -Lucius Malfoy. Each night, you can frame a target to invert the result of his alignment for the purpose of alignment checks.
Bartemius Crouch Jr. (Vigilante): The young Barty Crouch has always been the faithful servant of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, going so far as to kill his own father in service to his lord. He spent years in Azkaban happy in the knowledge that he was still serving his dark lord in confinement. When his mother's last dying wish allowed for his escape from Azkaban he wasted no time in reuniting with his semi corporeal lord to offer his vast power once more into service. “You need preparing. You need arming. But most of all, you need constant, never ceasing vigilance” -Barty Crouch jr disguised as Alastor Moody. Once per game, at night, you can kill a target. If you are roleblocked or your shot overlaps with a scum factional KP, you get your bullet back. You may not shoot during Night 1.
Delores Umbridge (Masoner): Delores Umbridge, High Inquisitor of Hogwarts, is an evil woman, she has sided against her own ministry and joined the Death Eaters whose goals of destroying half-breed creatures like centours and merpeople line up with her own distaste for non-human magical creatures. She often uses her power at Hogwarts to force students to carve their punishment onto the backs of their own hands and can easily communicate with the students through the bloddy messages she forces them to suffer. “I know [Umbridge] by reputation and I’m sure she’s no Death Eater—“-Sirius Black; “She’s foul enough to be one” -Harry Potter “Yes, but the world isn’t split into good people and Death Eaters” -Sirius Black. Each Night, you can select a target. Until the end of the next night, you are masoned with that target. You cannot mason the same target twice.
Animagus (God Father): Peter Pettigrew was the Potters' secret keeper before he sold them out to his Lord. He was never a strong man and when Lord Voldemort first came to him he knew he could not resist the power that was intrinsic to the very being of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Peter has always allied himself with those more powerful than himself, when he was in school those powers were Sirius Black and James Potter, now he has sold Potter to Lord Voldemort and has a stronger protector than he ever could have dreamed of. “If you made a better rat than a human, it’s not much to boast about, Peter.” -Sirius Black. You return Green to alignment checks and vanilla to role checks.
Lord Voldemort (Jailkeeper): Tom Marvolo Riddle was an exceptional wizard but his unending quest for immortality has taken his humanity from him; to many this would be a set back but to Lord Voldemort it is just one step on the path to shedding his mortal shackles. Voldemort, as befits a man of his power, has developed great sorceries which he can use to prevent any other wizard from acting for an entire night. “Only I can live forever” -Lord Voldemort. Each night, you can jailkeep someone to protect and roleblock them. You can't save yourself.
Death Eater (Goon): Like the others who wear the mask the faceless Death Eater wants only to promote purity of magical blood and to stamp out the rise of muggle-born wizards. Purity of blood is all that matters to the Death Eater and as such he or she will forever fight on the side of Voldemort to kill those who fight to keep muggles and muggle-borns alive. The Death Eater was born to rule the world and, after giving himself to He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, he has the power to ensure that he will do so. “Months of preparation, months of effort...And my Death Eaters have let Harry Potter Thawrt me again” - Lord Voldemort. You have no powers.
Voldemort's Lieutenant (Jack of All Trades): Bellitrix Lestrange was once a beautiful women, now she is harrowed by her long stay in Azkaban but her loyalty to her master has not wavered as her eyes sunk. She uses her prodigious magical talents to attack those who oppose Lord Voldemort and to defend those who remain loyal to the greatest wizard to ever live. “You need to mean [unforgiveable curses] Potter! You need to really want to cause pain -- to enjoy it -- righteous anger won't hurt me for long -- I'll show you how it is done, shall I? I'll give you a lesson " -Bellatrix Lestrange. Twice per game, at night, you can choose to use one of your powers. You cannot use the same power twice. Powers: Masonry, Frame, Veteran, Medic.
Other Forces
Dementor of Azkaban (Serial Killer): You are a wound in the fabric of the world, a miscreation, a tangle in the threads of reality wrought of horror and fear. Your malevolent gaze burns terror and despair into the souls of those who would stand against you. Only the Patronus Charm can hold you at bay or drive you away, and nothing between Heaven and Earth can destroy you. You feed off the very life essence of living humans, and as your dark powers grow, so does your hunger. Every night you must send in a kill, piercing medic and veteran protection. You have an extra night life. You win when you are the only player left in the game.
Rita Skeeter (Survivor): You are a wound in the fabric of society, a misrepresentor, a hack whose words bring horror and fear to her subjects. That being said, this whole war thing is scary so you're going to try to wait it out, then write an amazing expose after the fact. You have no special powers. You win if the game ends and you are still alive.
Basilisk (Serial Poisoner): A dark creature, you stalk the night. Your venom can burn through magical artefacts and your gaze alone can slay. You reside within the Chamber of Secrets and await the next heir of Slytherin. Normally, you'd be feeling pretty at-home, but recently the chamber has come unsealed! You wander the halls of hogwarts performing missions for your masters and poisoning, petrifying, or slaying your victims. Every night you must send in a kill. Your kill is resolved at the end of the next night, piercing medic and veteran protection. You have an extra night life. You win when you are the only player left in the game.

My favorites are probably the entries for Trelawney and Auror. I definitely went for something more interesting with both of those. I also like the bellatrix one. Good quote imo
