Introduction:
Mafia is a psychological game created by Dimitry Davidoff in the USSR circa 1986. The game is designed to model a battle between an informed minority (the mafia) and an uninformed majority. The spirit and essence of the game is to use ones knowledge and perspective on psychology to determine who belongs to which group. Thus, attempting to break the setup and abuse the mechanics to your advantage and avoiding a psychological approach to the game goes against the purpose of the games creation. It is very frustrating to see games progress this way as both a player and a host. I implore every player to rely on analyzing the behavior of others and traditional scumhunting methods.

Rules:
Cheating:
Cheating includes (but is not limited to):
1. Posting after death.
2. Intentionally ruining the game.
3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role.
4. Comparing role PM times to determine roles.
5. Posting screenshots of your inbox.
6. Posting or sharing any PM you receive from a host.
7. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team.
8. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts.
9. Betting items outside of the game in exchange for in-game benefits.
10. Sharing accounts with other players.
11. Breadcrumbing the specific phrasing of your role PM.
12. Posting a false role PM phrased as if you received it from the host.
Cheating is not tolerated here. The punishment will be severe.
Game-specific Rules:
1. Do not ask questions to the moderators in the thread. If you have a question, PM DoctorHelvetica. If your question is of interest to enough people, I will post an answer in the thread.
2. If you spam/flame in a way I deem inappropriate you will be warned via PM. If you ignore my warnings you will be modkilled immediately after your next offense.
3. If you martyr or threaten to ragequit you will be immediately modkilled and I will request that you are banned.
4. If you have a grievance regarding another player in the game, PM me your complaint and I will contact the other player and try to resolve the issue. Do not disrupt the thread because you have a problem with the way someone is behaving. That only makes things worse.
5. Modkills will not flip to avoid giving one side an advantage that they did not actually earn.
6. If you make any attempt to infiltrate mafia QT or irc, I consider this cheating and I will modkill you and request a very very long ban. This goes against the spirit of the game.
7. You are free to smurf and by no means do you have to ever reveal what your main account is. If a smurf account is in the game, respect that and rely on your ability to read and analyse their posts instead of speculating about who they actually are.
8. Even if you are active and obey the rules, if you put zero effort into the game I will seek out a replacement for you.
