Don't be inactive. Always be in the thread voicing your reads and opinions.

Inactivity is the #1 problem in newbie games because it allows the mafia to blend in with the lurkers without having to defend their opinions.

Being wrong isn't a crime. Trust your instincts and have conviction in your cases. As someone once said "It's not about what you know, its about what you can convince everyone else to believe" or something like that.

I think a good minimum level of activity is probably 3-4 posts per 24-hour period. This means you'll be putting out about 8 posts each in-game day, and maybe 3ish each night. Assuming you use your posts wisely and analyze, ask questions, offer opinions, and generally help town, this will be okay. I personally will like to break down my thoughts into smaller posts and have back-and-forths with other players, but I'm at the computer quite a bit and am able to do this. This level of activity is also good, and can go up to 10+ posts per 24-hour period, or 20+ posts per in-game day.

The MOST important thing is that you post enough that people realize you're a town player, and don't try to lynch you

Well, information comes from things other than flips. In Day 1, you pressure mafia by trying to get them to commit to reads, ideas, policies, anything that scum doesn't want to talk about because later it could reveal them to be scum. By the second half of day 1 everyone should be talking, and the more talking that happens, the more likely it is that scum will slip up, and the more obvious it will be that they're intentionally staying quiet to not slip up.

Haha. From what I can tell, the bests thing to do are post consistently (both time and topic), back up your claims with reasoning, and always be furthering the town's goals (if you're actually town).Oh, and have fun. I guess you can add fun to the list

I'm excited to try my hand at forum mafia, since irl mafia seems to go too quickly to actually think about anything that's going on. But now I should sleep. I'm busy from 11-12 CST, but I'll try to post something before then if I'm awake/available.
