The set-up looks very interesting, especially trying to post completely in role. I would play, but the level of convoluted posting needed while on a mobile phone will leave me out.
I wouldn't mind observing or continuing a crash course in town play and mafia play. I've played one or two games online, and thousands offline. (Rough estimate)
Mayhe Newbie Mafia XXII would work better for me, unless people wouldn't mind a player not posting screens of text each day.
Firstly congrats on being from New Zealand, you can say hi to my cousins for me.
Secondly this is a standard setup with nothing really convoluted. The only difference is the flavour I have given the roles. You do not have to post in character. That would make little sense. Everyone playing this game will be, by definition, a newbie. As for activity, you don't have to post walls of text. In fact the best players here don't tend to do that. Rather they read and read and read and read and then post something new and insightful.
In addition there is the most awesome Blazinghand and his stupendousness VE to help you out if you feel the need. Finally the fact that you are hesitant to sign up because you are unsure of whether you can keep up, is a very good sign. Be wary, be skeptical but most of all have fun.

Also, yes I imagine this game would be a nightmare on a mobile device. However, it does have the added benefit of some level of input sanitation. Could be a useful tool (or excuse) in some cases.
