I've been considering buying for a while, so maybe this will push me over the edge. Also, knowing TL Mafia, we will have several factions within our faction, lynch one person every day, and tear ourselves apart in a blaze of neurotic and paranoid glory. In other words, I'm probably in. :p | ||

I doubt there will be a faction like that. I would say stupidity, so what faction will be the most retarded one. This requires a lot of thinking :D Also radfield, lol will get destroyed by dota so quickly, it won't even be funny anymore | ||

Make sure you watch the tutorial video in the thread so that you know how to claim land etc. Try not to claim any land we're not building on though. We are planning on building an UNDERWATER CITY to the southeast of kamadan. http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/5786/outpute.jpg Kamadan is the big red thing in the middle of the desert. See that shallow pooly area just to the southeast of it? That's the spot right there. If I'm not online when you get there, just try to head there as quick as you can and set up shop. If somebody msgs me here on teamliquid and I can't spend the time to join the game, I'll just transfer leadership over and you can inv or claim or whatever. I suggest that we start building BEFORE we start claiming because we don't know how big of an area we need, but the following is the basic architectural strucutre of the underwater city: We are going to need are farms, so the first order of buislness from allayall is to start getting seeds, which are pretty rare. Collect them on the way. I want a stack of at least 32 from each of you. Second thing we need is a FUCKLOAD of sand and coal, so second priority is a mineshaft on one of those little islands. Make it kinda small and under a tree or something so that people from far away can't tell what we're doing. Only a few people need to mine, a stack of coal will build quickly. Don't go too deep, we don't want to delve into crazy stronghold land just yet. Everyone else can start getting sand. Build yourself a shovel and start leveling out the water around the mineshaft. I'm undecided on how deep the city should be, but the deeper you can go without drowning the better. I'm thinking probably something close to 3 or 4 blocks is okay at the start, I can deepen it afterwards. We just want a level surface, so just remove all clumps or something for a nice big ol area around the island. I should be on at this point, but just so everyone knows: at this point we start placing glass. Place glass all along the flat surface we have. Once the entire surface is covered, we VERY CAREFULLY dig beneath the glass and open up the area (go through the mineshaft, not through the water). Once we've got a little pocket of air, we can start to break glass and quickly create more beneath it, which will allow us to get deeper and deeper and deeper in a dome-like shape in all directions. If something doesn't make sense or you guys are unsure about what to do, just collect coal and sand or widen the flat area underwater. Building underwater cities is tricky because the water ai is so effing weird, but once you do it its the most gorgeous looking city imaginable. Lets keep it secret, hmm? | ||

Ugh. Well, if we put it so far underwater they cant swim to it, then we just have to protect the enterance on one of those little islands then. Or just hide it really well. Maybe have a button on a tree connected to a piston or something. I don't know, we'll figure it out. | ||

the tree city (ashvale or something) sells diamonds for 100 a pop, and will accept compasses for 75 each. Compasses are relatively easy to make and not too costly (except for the iron, but I've never had a problem finding enough iron) so maybe that could be a potential source of income/diamonds? If you loop at the top right of the map, you'll see what looks like a small town> It is just a normal, minecraft-spawned village, which has premade farms. Read: Easy early source of seeds if we send one guy up to find it, then just have him teleport home. Near the entrance to ashvale, there's a "shrine to freelancer". It's a jumping puzzle with a chest at the end. The chest was empty when I got there, but it won't be when the server restarts. There's also a pyramid on the road to ashvale - impossible to miss. I couldn't figure it out, but according to irninja there's "hidden stuff" inside it... :D I'll update if I find more. | ||

Server is up. I find the location we agreed upon and start setting up shop. Ken gets on and joins the faction. I find and loot an unprotected chest that has ender pearls in it :D Some dudes from a different faction roll up a few minutes later when ken and I have just started mining for stone and coal, sporting full iron kit. Turns out they got it illegitimately, so ninja steals their stuff, but not before they kill us several times, take our home, and loot our chest. All told, we lose the ender pearls and some coal and iron D: They are currently set to enemy (forget the faction name, but you'll see them). We will erase their memory from existence as soon as we get strong enough and find them. Bexel (ilovejonn) joins the party. We use the extra power he brings to reclaim our territory and start rebuilding. We find no more coal, and are forced to create some charcoal as night is fast approaching. We complete our shitty beginner hut (just a temporary base!) and spend the night starting to set up some farms and whacking skeletons with swords. When day breaks, I go on a short mining trip and come back with enough iron to kit out me, ken, and jonn with iron swords, plus a stack of coal. Around this time, iGrok joins up and joins us, bringing our number to 4. We continue to set up farm. A wonderful man named therealHH rolls by and gives us some wheat for free, so we ally his faction (Templar). Hopefully this alliance will lead to great things! jonn and I mostly focus on farming, ken is a super-lumberjack and gets us a ton of wood, and iGrok creates us a secret hidey hole for us to hide our really valuable stuff (just in case we get raided while we're all offline). I stash some eggs, ender pearls, feathers, and other valuable stuff there. Not saying where it is, but I'll tell you in game. And that's where we ended when we all logged for the night. For those interested in finding the base, just go south out of spawn village. When you reach the coast, take a right. You'll find it. All 4 of us are mods, so we can all invite you as long as one of us is online, so you'll get in easy I'll hand leadership over to tnkted once we get him in the faction! | ||

After a long cat-and-mouse I kill him and got us 7 lapis and some iron tools. This sparked a very brief war with Wombats, who are like triflin except their leader listens to reason. They've gone to war twice since I logged in. I patch things up with them, and I get to keep everything the guy dropped. To keep treasures that we need to be readily accessible safe, I made a chest that enemy factions can't get in to on the roof. (Unless other people can open fence-gates in our territory? Then its a simple fix that I can explain when I'm back on). Remember to close all fencegates when you go through them to prevent griefing! Greymistgot online and helped me explore and repair the damage done by pony guy. He seems to be figuring everything out nicely. Sometime later I killed fslslayer, of triflin. Shortly thereafter, triflin got obliterated by another clan they pissed off. Karma ^__^ Our mining cavern is fucking huge. Busted open a few dungeons with greymist, nothing of immense value there unfortunately. Lots of mine shafts though. We've got a ton of rails. Picked up a bit of gold and a lot of iron. In addition to improving our starting hut, I also changed the farm a bit, in a way that will help us once we get sufficient redstone. I also made a treehouse for myself and a forward lookout station. Also, as soon as I get a chance I'll be building a cobblestone farm for us (not sure if thats allowed). Redstone needs to be our #1 priority. The faster we can semi-automate the farm, the faster we can start doing some serious business. Superouman logged in and joined Mafia, he doesn't play but I DT checked him and got back Vanilla Town, so we should be good to go. That brings us to 6 players I think. Last thing I did was take all the precious metals to the secret treasure spot. IMO this is a good idea for the last person online to do each night. Thats it for me, I'm off to sleep. | ||

Honestly, I think we just have an iron door that only opens from the inside. We can always /f home into bases easily, so having only a 1-way door seems the best course for us right now. For now tho, we're at peace with everyone, and starting to broker alliances with factions like Loners, etc. I think we establish ourselves as a powerful faction who it's good to ally with now. Also, we need to get our farming economy up fast, we're all starving lol. | ||

We did talk to one guy in their faction (Simiard) for quite a while. He was hilarious and because he entertained us so much we decided to declare peace. Thus, we have left nobodies alone, and are now considering them as potential allies :D Thoughts on an allegiance with them? They're mostly harmless, especially now that they've been de-diamonded. | ||

I've never played minecraft, and am still thinking of picking this up. However, I'll have no idea what I'm doing, and won't want to wreck anything unintentionally. I am good at killing things in games though. :p (I can pick up everything I need to in-game, I just felt like posting, and still want to murder things, I should start up a bounty-hunting service, haha) | ||
