It seems like a much more error prone me than looking for scum.

I'd say jumping on people for being scummy is MUCH more error-prone. Plenty of times both town and scum will do scummy stuff. And idk why but scum can often blend in better solely by being active in thread since people tend to (wrongly) assume that activity=towniness, especially if they have a half-assed meta case to back it up... What people tend to forget is most people playing here only have a few scumgames played, if any at all. So they're still developing their scumgames, making meta cases oftentimes pointless. Townhunting and process of elimination jumps past all this shit. You start with the people who clearly have town's best interest at heart, and are actually interested in solving the game. You then cross off the people who you establish as likely town due to small "towntells," a bit of a nuanced thing. But I'd say people towntell all the time, moreso than scumtell... And what you're left with is a scum shortlist. Haters gonna hate, but determining scum motivation behind actions (imho the only other true way of finding scum, since scummy =/= scum) often isn't clear until townies start flipping. Townhunting and process of elimination, however, can be used at any point in the game, with it getting only stronger as the game progresses.

I think there should be some sort of All-star mafia where the forum votes on who they'd like to see face off. (and maybe based on the answers a few trusted people can hand-pick the teams?) I'm not sure of the logistics of this (ie numbers, roles, themed/normal/mini/etc) but I would watch/follow the HELL out of that game.

I suppose that there aren't too many 'well-rounded' players that many would unanimously say belong on an 'All-star' team for either alignment...? Either way the idea needs some fleshing out because as is it's essentially just an invite-only game with style.

This is something that needed adressing since Smurf Mini Mafia, where town lynched scum D1 and then lost to two replacements for scum. Not that they didn't deserve it, but it allowed their slots to skip a good portion of the game and to not be forced to explain their predecessors' actions, it was certainly an advantage. I think a scum team should only have one replacement allowed, and the rest modkilled. You can't really blame people if they have good reasons, but you can't allow replacement tactics either, a host can hardly ask for hard evidence to see fi the reasons are honest.

They aren't even in the game anymore and thus didn't win anything... I don't think it's a huge problem but it certainly hurts the integrity of the game. This is a problem we have as town in general by giving replacements extra time to adjust rather than getting in and hitting the ground running. Also I don't think only 1 scum replacement is a viable alternative because no matter how you spin that to try and balance it, people will use mod actions to speculate. If someone replaces then a scum gets modkilled because 2 scum replace out at the same time along w/ a third, there is a free 50/50 modconfirned lynch. If a town replaces out d1 and a scum replaces out n1 then someone gets modkilled d3 as scum, n1 replacement is confirmed scum, etc.
