2004 literally had an undefeated record against the top 10 that year or something, lost to Berdych who had a huge day 2008 mono (don't want to open that up but just supposing he felt its effects, whether physically or mentally), lost to Blake pretty depressingly 2012 he's playing pretty well, came off a big win at Wimby, beats Del Potro in a legendary semis, crumbles in the finals. Please Federer....come back .__. | ||

To be fair, I think it's a combination of both.
