It's a struggle to find out who even wins other events if a British person isn't on it through BBC. At the last olympics there was a day-recap video that covered every event that happened that day and the results. This time around, that only exists for those involving British athletes. Frankly, it's absolutely ridiculous. I understand that it's the home games but it's a world competition, just because we suck at badminton doesn't mean it shouldn't be news worthy. There is a show on about 10 past 12 each day called sports day. Has a 5-10 minute segmant recapping everything non british going on in the olympics. That and this thread is the only way i find out about events which dont have brits in. Pretty dissapointing tbh.
Have you checked out the BBC website? It has ALL the Sports, every single event, streamed live and VODs too. I earlier watched the Australian sailor win Gold. Not sure why are you complaining when they offer everything to viewers. TV is old-skool, it's now the Internet that is leading the media coverage.

Bauge is a world class competitor, but it is not his day. I dont think Bauge did bad today, he played on his level. It is the team GB who is too strong and get all the medals. They have probably found better materials / materials better adapted to the track or something else because this is just ridiculous to dominate like that and break all the record when they were pretty much at the same level as Australia/France/other countries last WC in Australia. Now they just beat easily every country on every race during this Olympics Since last olympics were they used new shit which they hid from everyone and got in trouble with higher ups they have had absolutely everything they're using today in the open. So anyone else can quite happily buy exactly the same bike and other equipment that the gb team is using if they want. Nah, we win because we cheat! I never mentionned cheat. But I think this is pretty much pointless to even try to discuss with you. Show nested quote +
The overwhelming focus on the Team GB cyclists is this Olympics. This is their target and their training and season is all geared up to peak here over all other competitions. Cycling is not a high profile sport in the UK, and only really gets media attention during the Olympics. The cyclists know they have to perform here in London because the vast majority of Brits neither know or care about track cycling otherwise. Team GB dominated the cycling last Olympics too and I expect them to probably do the same next time, although some big names will have retired.
well everybody prepare and want to win the olympics, not only the GB team. World championship in Australia was just a couple month ago, so I don't think the GB could have improved that much in such a short time scale. Anyway mechanics are part of the sport so there i no problem with that.
The Aussies were inspired by their home crowd, and so did well. Now the Brits have the home crowd to inspire them. Also in the Melbourne Finals of the Track Cycling World Championships (UCI) a few months ago, the Brits set 2 WR in Olympic events and also won 5 Golds in Olympic events, so this has been coming.

Trok67 you are implying that GB are winning due to the bikes they use? Regulations mean any rider can use any bike in the competition with a limited fee. Pointless to debate what makes sense? Preperation is key and head coach Dave Brailsford sets up individual training programmes for each athlete. They set it up to peak at the olympics. I dont think other nations dont prepare or train hard its just that I think his methods and results have to be appreciated. This is the guy who also leads team sky for the tour. London was being focused on before Beijing, athletic success was vital.

I have no interest in blaming athletes but I am pointing out the poor behavior of all Brits in this thread these last 3 or 4 days. Still waiting for my apology. My points still stands though. The results of GB doesn't excuse the incessant taunting and smearing that everyone has to endure here.

I agree that posters in this thread should remember that the Olympics is about mutual respect for all nations and competitors and is supposed to celebrate sporting achievements. It should not bring out the worst in people, but the best in us.

That doesn't mean everyone is doped but a huge chunk of the guys on the team are doped, and when everyone on both europcar and sky presents the external symptom of Aicar... both europcar and sky will have some serious doping case coming in the next decade.
