It will be funny to see tonight's basketball match between Spain and Brasil. Both teams are in the situation of the badmintons players where it would be better for them to lose rather than to win. Indeed, if they lose they will play France in quarter and then (maybe) Russia in semi so that they will avoid USA in semi-final who is of course the huge favorite of the competition. So we could see a match where both team try their best to lose and, in the same time, have to pretend playing their best in order not to get banned by the IOC ^^ Will be interesting to see if they play their best, and if not, what the olympic committe going to do against them.
I doubt it. The equivalent of what those badminton teams did is for both teams to repeatedly shoot in their own basket. They'll play their bench and hide their better plays, but I doubt they're going to actively score for the opposing team.

Lol actively score for the opposing team? Great comparison haha. It's more like just not score at all.

What is deliberately hitting serves into the net if not scoring for the opposing team?

More anti-GB riding in the womens omnium.

Learn the sport and accept that there is only one net in badminton but two baskets in Basketball and the scoring is Y/O in badminton and Y/N/O in basketball... You can never make this kind of comparison without sounding completely non-sensical. Hitting serves into the net is not actually unseen in badminton at high level even for players wanting to win. Hitting your own basket in basketball is another planet entirely.

take what ? You know, the olympics are about athletes competing and not about a "war" between nations for some kind of nationalism pride... Was expecting this kind of nationalism mentality from chinese, north korean or former USSR guys but not from GB... gg to kenny he was the best.

Great win by Kenny. Bauge is a world class competitor, but it is not his day.

It was always going to be those two and it was aimed at Bauge. I am extremely happy because he lives two minutes from me and I have met him a few times. If I was going to mention war I would have said that Kenny demolished the French just like Agincourt

I dont think Bauge did bad today, he played on his level. It is the team GB who is too strong and get all the medals. They have probably found better materials / materials better adapted to the track or something else because this is just ridiculous to dominate like that and break all the record when they were pretty much at the same level as Australia/France/other countries last WC in Australia. Now they just beat easily every country on every race during this Olympics

So anyone else can quite happily buy exactly the same bike and other equipment that the gb team is using if they want.
