I agree with this, but i also would add, if your found with possible drugs in you once you should get another chance after x amount of years (1 year ban seems good enuff) to then come back in and be found with possible drugs inside you again should be a permenant ban.

Algerian athlete expelled fromt he olympics for not trying in an 800m heat. His team didn't withdraw him after his performance in the 1500m the evening before (an event in which he could have won a medal), so he basically stopped running after about 100m.

It will be funny to see tonight's basketball match between Spain and Brasil. Both teams are in the situation of the badmintons players where it would be better for them to lose rather than to win. Indeed, if they lose they will play France in quarter and then (maybe) Russia in semi so that they will avoid USA in semi-final who is of course the huge favorite of the competition. So we could see a match where both team try their best to lose and, in the same time, have to pretend playing their best in order not to get banned by the IOC ^^ Will be interesting to see if they play their best, and if not, what the olympic committe going to do against them.

I assume that means they need a doctor to come up with a valid reason why he stopped running in the race? I have a feeling some medical practitioner in teh London area is going to get a nice donation from the Algerian government...

Hrm, that sucks. I like both the Brazil and Spanish teams, would prefer if they both avoided the USA ![]()
