Looking pretty rough for VES at this stage.
Do results in this tournament have any effect on LCS qualification?

I don't think it officially feeds into the LCS system, atleast from the info provided in the leaguepedia page.
CoL looking really strong this week. Wonder if they can 4-0.

WellPlayed org will run the remaining LCS pre-qualifiers starting at the end of the month, with team eligibility based on the ranked team ladder.

Laute has improved so much. Kinda mindboggling how he's like a threat now compared to before l0l

Easy to look good in amateur tourney. With that being said. Coast is tearing it up as well.

GGLA is a team with amazing potential. Bischu is just a pretty damn good player, but the real show is Quas. imo, Quas is the best top laner in NA, if not the best player in NA.

Not sure if Zekent isn't Tabe, or Aphromoo isn't Uzi.

yea, this isn't working out. Riven is notoriously bad 1v2 and she's keeping up with Renekton.
well Tabe doesn't run it in sidelanes, so there is that.

So they just got the most overrated players in solo queue and brought them onto curse?

it's not odd, it's the strategy. in interviews Tabe has said he thinks she isn't a good support if you don't go mid.

Pobelter was considered a very good midlaner during Season 2 and was #1 ranked for a long time, they still have Voyboy since he's Voyboy, IWD imo is a pretty famous jungler, and Zekent is the only one who I see as not that famous.

Curse is in a LOT of trouble if they don't gel immediately. It's just such an odd collection of talent, not that old Curse was some sort of juggernaut but they were/are better than this version of Curse.
There are 3 good/solid challenger teams in ggLA, Complexity and Quantic and while each of those teams has its problems, I think each of them stands a chance in a bo5 against a Curse/Coast/Velocity. Promotion/Relegation going to be interesting for NA and I assume its similar in Europe since they traditionally have a deeper pool of teams than NA

well I guess there is that, does not change the fact that Tabe himself has said he does not like the pick for sidelines, so there must have been other factors.

Just noticed this tournament posting on the sidebar and thought I'd post here to get some feedback.
I'm RAPiD, one of the shoutcasters for NACL, and I've been trying out a lot of new things with casting this season.
My questions to you are:
1. What do you want to hear more/less about? 2. What's your favorite thing about NACL/the NA Challenger scene 3. If you could change 1 thing about NACL, what would it be
Any feedback/comments would be greatly appreciated! I'm trying to do everything I can to make NACL the best experience I can and to help make the Challenger scene as exciting for everyone watching as it is for me to cast!
Thanks to everyone for their support!

Hey Rapid,
I've always enjoyed your casting, so I was pleased to see you casting NACL (we LoL junkies need our fix). The format is a bit long-ish for my taste (I understand its a mini LCS but it the season feels too long, minor gripe to be sure but does make each game feel kind of unimportant)
1. What is the format! Its a simple enough regular season -> playoffs but I don't know what the playoff format is? Do the conferences cross over? Does the #1 seed get a bye? This helps people see these games as important because they can think 'one more win and CoL has to go 2-3 over their next 5 to get a bye' and thus get excited that way. They can get hyped for potential first round matchups which is impossible now because no one knows what is happening.
2. I actually enjoy the 'less refined' games because when C9 gets a 4k gold lead, you better believe that game is over, but if Infinite Odds get a gold lead or new look Curse, it seems much more up in the air, so there is more reason to be invested in the games, because it could turn on a dime. I also like that the challenger seen is where new stars are born (i.e quas). On this tip its important that we get to know something about these new stars - I don't know a single thing about quas and hes the #1 upcoming star in NA. I don't know his name, I don't know where he lives, etc. Tell us a story - its your story to tell, so make it a good one.
3. The delays are a tad annoying, I find myself pausing the stream, doing something else and then coming back to find the game paused, I do appreciate the messages on the bottom saying that the game is delayed due to xyz but its already a common thread throughout this tournament. Not sure how you fix it, but I know it takes away some of my focus from the game.
also your website needs some serious help. Its basic, but almost too basic at this point (though I do love the 'manslaughter, Donald Trump and I'm Helping awards). The standings are even wrong (you have conferences, not a single table). Any content that could be added would help a lot as its a bit of ghost town at the moment.
I think NACL is enjoyable and its certainly good for a first time out tournament, it just needs some refinements

Thanks to everyone for their support! 1. More awesome/random music, give whoever made the playlist a fucking high-five for me. 2. Seeing amateur teams that have usually be somewhat smothered by the LCS. 3. Less technical difficulties, access to full Tournament Realm, so no place holder champions or rune issues interfere with broadcast.
Keep up the good work!
|
Turn up the in game volume. I don't know why every amateur tournament in everything decides to turn the in game volume all the way down and we just hear either nothing or just the caster voices. Watch any big tournament and you can hear a good portion of the in game sounds.

I would not blame Quas too much. Curse is just getting outroamed. And Coast is actually a good team.

quas 49 cs at 15 mins #gethyped
Though playing against Zion's Riven who got a better 1v2 phase than you probably isn't a lot of fun

Cop flashed the charm and got a triple. npnp

Dominate always this bad underwhelming? Didn't like him when he replaced the then godtier Jatt either.
Edit: Zekent is really mediocre too. Guess I'm late to the Curse anti-hype train.

curse has 1 ward on the map i think.
they didn't show much top lane action but zekent+cop didn't keep down riven at all.

Meh, Crs has only had this team for a day now. I wouldn't really read into anything. I do think Quas is a great addition, but it's going to depend on how his and Voy's champion pools mesh. Cop should be fine, he's always pretty consistent despite his critics. Zekent seems underwhelming, but I'll give him time since he's new and trying to mesh with multiple adcs over the last week.

Curse loses with Cop at 6/0/1 lol.
Nintendude did a real good job getting Zion past the 1v2 phase ahead of Quas.

Meh Crs was my favorite NA team. They should have kept voy top, jacky mid, and cop ad for stability. Then have zekent and IWD as new additions. They tried to change things up too fast and the lack of teamwork and communication shows.

I mean it was a very good performance from Coast, who do seem to be better than what they showed in the LCS, but holy crap that was pathetic from Curse. (outside of Cop who somehow managed to not die) They got outplayed in the laning phase in the 1v2 where Zion and Nintendude had like 30+ more cs than quas and IWD. Shiptur roamed everywhere and quas never really had a chance against a Riven that was ahead of him without even laning against him.
The problem with quas and Voy as your solo laners is that they are basically they exact same player, they are flashy, carry orientated top laners, so now you put one of them in a mid role they don't really excel at, combined with anemic jungle presence from IWD who is quickly becoming a dead weight for Curse. I wonder how much pressure the organization will put on Saint to play for just the promo/relegation matches, he's miles better than IWD and could probably give the team some stability.

In their scrims (with the old line-up of Aphro/Polbelter) everyone was talking and throwing ideas all over the place, but there was no single unifying voice to put together a coherent game plan. It just looks like Crs has no idea how to play League together atm. Quas will have a better performance than what he showed today and Voyboy may learn to be a better mid, but it's gonna be hard to find someone who can fill Saint's shoes and lead the team in-game. IWD sure ain't up to the challenge.

do we know who the shot caller is for curse atm?
considering all the patched-in-players roster drama etc, who is it that is making the calls in the game?

This NiD vs Infinite Odds game was really odd. NiD were definitely ahead throughout, but seem to have had a really really difficult time pushing to win. Interesting. Wonder if it's Infinite Odd's teamwork or NiD just not finishing the game when they had the chance earlier.

Cop carried for one week.
Then Draven got nerfed and Cop ceased to do anything useful for the rest of the split.

To be honest, I don't really remember a lot of Curse games. The one I do remember had him getting destroyed by Doublelift until Saint and Jacky picked him up and fed him a bunch of kills.
That is probably causing me to remember Cop more negatively than he perhaps deserves.

I mean, don't get me wrong, he still has a problem with carrying, but he did carry a couple times after the Draven nerfs lol

Cop is pretty solid, I don't know why he gets so much flak. Although I think his style works better with a playmaking mid player, the old Curse where top/jungle were the playmaking positions isn't ideal in the current meta and part of their problem. Really I think that bot lane was the least problematic lane for Curse in the LCS Summer Split.
|
Cop was probably the best player for curse last split along with perhaps Edward. Jacky and Voyboy were awful, jacky because he was just invisible and Voyboy because he was reckless and made poor decisions. Saint was saint, crazy 75% playmaker 25%.
I can't say I really rate this new line up. I would not be surprised if they lost in relegations.
