This is a bit of a mess, so apologies if the results are spoiled. I don't really see a better way of doing this, and don't want to spend so much time putting in spoiler tags for no reason.
You did a great job ketchup . Thank you for the thread. After a very successful even last year in Danang, I can see why Garena wants to put this season regional in Vietnam again, but why they put it in a stadium that can hold just about 3000 people is beyond me(last year was 10.000).

That sounds strange. Maybe the popularity of the game has dipped down a little over there? Or maybe it's just scheduling issues.

Probably schedule related as Vietnam won last year and SJ havent gotten any worse since then. If anything Id assume LoL is equal or bigger by now

Nah, the game's popularity is definately has gone up by alot compared to last year. I am sure there are alot of people that can't get a seat inside the stadium.

The commentary doesn't seem so bad, but the sound quality is definitely terror.
Totally agree! I like the Asian guy with the accent (lol sorry for my ignorance - is he Vietnamese?), it's somehow very fitting, characteristic and likeable for such a raw, energy driven and (for me) somewhat exotic/obscure event like this one! :D If only the sound was better, I'm sure it would be pretty awesome.

yeah thats what I think too. Also, BKT's top lane was always late and did nothing the whole game.

Really surprised how well Olaf is doing here. They just mentioned he has 4200 hp currently. lol
Come on, Garena, I am sure you can find a better looking girl to put on the stage.... Let's see how Saigon Jokers and Singapore Sentinels will do tomorrow.
I wonder how they decide who is blue/purple side. I assume there would be some sort of system for it, but I don't know it. Anyone have any idea? I noticed that BKT and XGame are coincidentally blue side for both their matches so far. Oddly enough, they had them purple side yesterday, so trying to determine for future matches to update the initial post with.

I'm not sure if it was Chawy being a god, or Mineski not knowing how to teamfight. That rumble ulti from Tofu was pretty godlike as well.
Probably more Mineski fucking up, but Chawy played it well.
He had flash, but didn't flash Malphite ulti, but considering how long that fight was, he probably thought snoy already blew it. That barrier flash into bush was really good though.
That was fucking ridiculous though. 2 sololaners and a support couldn't kill a single ADC. And that fucking E was perfectly timed on diana. Chawy is a fucking god. And I thought Bjergsen carried hard on diana today.
TYVM! Here's hoping some of his other plays from this match get compiled, too (vs Malphite/Lee in botlane/river & then the fight in mid/river where Rumble turned up late).
Edit: Holy shit, didn't even notice him threading the needle with that Chain of Corruption in that baron fight; it's the anti-LCS Varus ult.

He also didn't have flash that fight as well. flash is a crutch for shitty adc's. hue.

Yeah I'm trying to watch the Vietnamese stream since I can't really understand what these casters are even saying half of the time. I was asking about twitch because I want to watch it on my tv through the roku player and there's no apps that support the youtube stream.

They're just generic casters, not better but not the worst casters I've seen compared to NA casters. Some of their ban/pick talk only makes sense if you follow Garena scene.

Oh, sweet - good game sense or hypemanship or knowledge about the local scenes/players? On the Vietnamese stream, is there much in the way of post-match interviews &c? I'm only able to dip in and out of watching this due to work, bleh.
Edit: I should also watch more SEA/&c LoL than I do, considering my timezone.

They changed the casters this Xgame vs KLH game, these two previous casters are like Deman and a bit of Jatt. They are quite energitic and have very good knowledge about the game. There are no interview on VN stream, only small games to interact with the live crowd. Still recommend the VN stream if you are tired of English stream and want to try something else.
Looking forward to the SGS vs SAJ game though, the 2 best teams in SEA should give a pretty good idea on how well SEA is compared to NA/EU.

Yeah, and in e.g. the Ryze matchup, he can combo out of Rune Prison. BotRK/Hexdrinker/Giant's Belt (so far) this game; last match had a Hydra/Sunfire/Randuin's top J4 (laned against Lissandra, but was building against the enemy team's fed mid Zed).
These fights are seriously weird. One fight XGame goes to almost ace KLH, then the next fight, KLH just straight up win. I don't understand the timing at all.

Because both teams have big impact ultimates, so whoever get their ultimates right, they can win the fight straight out.

Except these fights are not really won on ultimates. They are won by someone misplaying/getting caught. There's also the idea of waiting until ultimate cooldown is gone. The cooldowns late game are fairly low too. There's a lot to be said about timing the fights properly which neither teams seem to want to do.
I imagine Sentinels qualifying for worlds and the entire crowd just submerging on the stage, tearing apart the Sentinels and trying to kill them so that Jokers go to worlds.
Then Chawy somehow lives and kills all the rioters.

Always happy to see SGS vs SAJ; Archie & Chawy are both p.dear to my heart. Since whoever loses this plays the winner of Mineski vs KLH ... well, I'd like to see how Mineski fare against the Jokers.
If SGS can draw this game out for around 20 more minutes, they might be able to stage a comeback.
I wonder why they chose LeBlanc for burst aside from the surprise factor. Even then, why not choose someone like Lux who can do similar things, but with more team fight power and more late game utility

Maybe as a counter to Karthus? Can dive in and kill him before he gets in the fight, and then get out himself. Can't really do that as Lux

I can understand that, but SGS's team comp is fairly strong late game, and SAJ chose LeBlanc as a last pick. In other words, they know their pitfall will be late game, and yet they chose another champion who doesn't scale the best for late game.
Hahaha the english commentary is really mad at harleluyar for engaging at 1/2 health the last 2-3 fights. It doesn't look like they are a fan of his play at all.

The worst part about the LeBlanc pick is that it was a last pick. Meaning they knew that SGS were aiming for a late game comp, and decided that LeBlanc would scale well enough for it. We all know she doesn't.
Also, don't know why Saigon Jokers are placed in purple side for the lower brackets. I thought they'd be blue side as they came from winners, and their last game was purple side. I'm seriously not sure how they pick who gets what side.

The crowd is fantastic. I think Mineski has a real chance to win this. I don't like the Ryze pick though since they are on the 3.10 patch, and his range nerf hurts a lot
Amazing fight from Mineski! Thought Zac went too ham, but managed to bounce out've the way of enough damage to let Shen ult resolve, and great Taunt=>Flash from Shen. Trist is 4/0/2 now.

I still feel this game would have went even more towards Mineski's side if they didn't have that ryze pick. Fairly certain that those range nerfs are quite substantial and am very surprised each time Ryze is picked.

It's tunnel vision during a fight. Not that odd to imagine. Seriously though, it was the tristana's fault. She chased the Elise instead of chasing the low health Ezreal/Lee Sin
There's the GG by Mineski! The superior team comp too strong.
In case people aren't listening to the English commentary. SGS has a 1 game advantage going in to a bo3 for the finals(due to not dropping from upper brackets)

i dunno why leaguepedia says its a Bo3 since the winner has 2 lives and loser has 1 life, basically the loser bracket team needs a reverse kill to win the event.

Does anyone find it odd that GPL is supposed to give the SEA scene structure to improve yet the winner of the SEA qualifier may be a team not in GPL that got here because the winner of the phillipine qualifier couldn't get there?

Also hyhy's shockwaves what the fuck.
Imagine if Riot paid certain chosen teams like 5x more salary than any other team could pay. What happens in GPL is the GPL teams have an advantage that no amateur can beat typically. The amount of salary they can pay means that in most cases, the talent goes to the GPL teams no matter what.
SGS has no idea how to handle pressure, and Mineski played amazingly well. Good show, and congrats to Mineski for the first confirmed team to be going to S3 Worlds
I'm gonna pin this loss heavily on hyhy and the akali pick. Hyhy's shockwaves were to be blunt horrible the amount of times he only got sona or nasus was beyond acceptable and the akali was just worthless.

Not really, Manila Eagles for example played in every season without having any pressure of being replaced. Yet they were only 3rd in the Philippines qualifier for this tourney behind teams that never had the opportunity to join GPL.
