I think he went shurelia's first or something along those lines. Hotshot's olaf is very...special. I remember dyrus going "WTF?" on stream when he saw hotshot run flash/TP olaf. Even in the games they won with olaf, hotshot was getting more or less carried. It's like how weak his Shen was a few weeks back - just because it's the new op top lane doesn't mean you don't need a heavy amount of practice with him to do well.

hotshotgg is good at running around and being a giant PITA and not dying in general, but that's really all he's good for. it doesn't take skill to splitpush (although knowing when to B is indeed amazing) but he plays overly defensive so i don't give him credit for that. i would take voyboy over him any day and CLG probably knows it. hotshot easily the weakest link in CLG

Problem is that the majority of tops in lol have way too limited a selection of champs and way too high a variation of play, even at top level. There really is no consistently dominating top laner when it comes to tournament play, although Darien does come the closest when he is on lan.

and the pool isn't horrible either: despite the loss of irelia, there's still olaf, singed, vlad, nid, cho, riven, ls, udyr, gp, yorick, swain, ryze, nunu, fiora, shen, lulu, cass, rumble, and the random AD that can sometimes show up there though i'm not arguing with the fact that hotshot sucks at olaf and dyrus is the only one i've seen consistently do well with him top

As someone who is most certainly not good at this game, I think that top lane is probably the hardest role during early game. Arguably hardest role all game long. The number of viable champions for top is huge, the chance that any top laner is well versed in every match up is pretty much nonexistent. Combine that with the fact that top is the most likely lane to get ganked or camped and you get one of the most silly experiences in video games. For example, was whoever played v8 when TreeEski played Mundo likely very well versed in that match up? Probably not, Mundo is a pretty rare solo top these days. What Hotshot experienced at all against Lulu top? Hell no because practically no one has done that and it's a new champion. Like when you have a lane where bruisers are probably the closest thing to the norm yet you also have at least four or five APs who can run that lane as well as champions like Teemo it's a lot to ask of anyone to become well versed in every match up. It's a lot to ask of anyone to consistently win top lane. I've seen Dyrus, Hotshot, Voyboy, and practically every other top laner that's been in the pro scene for more than six months carry their team crazy hard from top lane while also fail and cost their team the game by losing top so hard. tl;dr Fuck top lane.

He also said something like I wanna try to playing different roles at tourney level. It's honestly pretty sad that arguably the most versatile and one of the best NA players is stuck playing support for his team simply because his team is so limited. Support is very difficult to play, I always had the belief that you want your best player on support, or at least the smartest and most versatile one. Look at what Xpecial does for TSM, he is that teams fricken rock, always solid, I thought he was TSM's overall best player this tourney.
