Yeah, lee has some seriously boss sustain, but maxing W means you are sacrificing pretty much all of your midgame damage by neglecting Q and E.
I think Irelia would be a good counterpick to Brand, because the strong damage output of Brand will get held back by the fact that every time he tries to harass Irelia, she has a EW combo that can bring her back to even footing...
I don't know, this is just theorycraft. What does beat Brand these days?
For LS to win that lane, he's have to W dodge every Brand skill shot and land every Q. Otherwise he loses through attrition because of Brand's E.
Cass, Kass, Leblanc, Zilean off the top of my head. Still comes down to player skill in the end. But the four I listed can play footsie with Brand like a boss and have enough distance to dodge Brand's combo.

What's with the null-magic mantle stacking? If you've got 800 gold for that, spend 740 and get a Negatron for the same amount of MR and 60 less gold.
Simply doesn't make sense.

You can't ban all the champs that they want to play. This is pretty much how I feel right now - if you can successfully ban out ANY member of CLG, forcing them to either play a champion they're unskilled with or change roles, it's Elementz. Hotshot - Nidalee, Jax, Cho'gath, Galio, maybe Morde Saintvicious - Amumu, Nocturne, Alistar, Fiddlesticks, Gangplank Salce - Any viable AP, Salce = 2good Jiji (AD) - Ashe, Corki, Vayne, Caitlyn Elementz - Sona, Janna, Alistar <armchair commentator> He can probably also play Soraka, since she's super easy to not lose lane with right now, but honestly? I think with the right ban strategy, you could get rid of Nidalee and still force CLG into a worse bottom lane composition. Elementz is a good player, but he's practiced for support for the last forever, and even then you don't see him solo-queueing support the way you see other CLG members solo-queue their roles. He doesn't really have the role depth you'd ideally want on a player, and I don't think his other roles are on par with his opponents at Gamescom. With all that said, though, it might not be possible (or worth it) to actually ban Elementz out of his 'good' supports, because it would mean you'd likely be facing off against two of Nidalee, Orianna, Gangplank and Fiddlesticks. But I do think it's something to look for, even if it's just a third ban to force a disadvantaged bottom lane. Even then, you might be able to see Hotshot's sidelane Jax and Jiji do solo-lane Corki or something idk~ </armchair commentator>
If you ban out elementz they take soraka who anyone can play and force the other team to taric. Not sure if clg runs it but soraka+jax beats any taric+carry lane since taric will be constantly oom from the burst and sustain of soraka.

Because Wickd has very odd ideas. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. His ideas in that game? They were just a little bit on the wrong side of working.
+ Show Spoiler +Thornmail vs 3x magic? really?

Aegis and hexdrinker against double ap.
Thought you were talking about gp doing it.

Simply doesn't make sense. I think it's because you can build null-magic mantle into items that are both offensive and defensive, like hexdrinker and wit's end. Whereas negatron builds purely into defensive items.
I'm assuming you're referring to the Lee Sin play. In which case, he got 2 null-magic mantles so that one could build into mercs, and another into hexdrinker i believe.

But then he bought 2 more, which he turned into Spirit Visage and Aegis of the Legion. At some point during all that, he bought a thornmail, too.

Yeah, Soraka/Jax is something to look for. It'd almost certainly be Hotshot on Jax, which would create a very interesting / 'vintage' game with Support+Bruiser bot, AP mid and AD top.
I'd like to see it played out, but I probably never will

If it's the Mantles themselves we're talking about, it's not that big of a problem. I'd glad trade 60 gold for two levels of MR boost (meaning paying 400 twice getting MR each time rather than sitting until you have 740 and getting a Negatron in one go)
The problem is that Mantles don't really build into anything good. I'm still not sold on Hexdrinker. saint did go double Mantle on GP and made them into Hexdrinker and Aegis, so I guess that was ok since he planned that out.

Saint also playing leesin strongly lately.

Saw this on reddit, definitely made me smile.

I think Hexdrinker is very strong against a triple-magic composition with periodic effects like that Amumu/Brand/Annie comp. If you're guaranteed to get that health out of it every fight because there's magic hitting you, it gets a lot stronger.
Dunno about it vs Bruiser/AP/Randomjungle, but vs 3x magic definitely. It's like the anti-magic version of buying Tabi.

Considering how the EU teams never countered Hotshot's farm fest play style Saint's Yi could do really well. They would have to last pick him though, I don't think a top level team would let an early Yi pick go unpunished. I don't really expect Mil to be a problem for CLG the way the games have been going. Mil looked unimpressive against Solomid and CLG recently stomped them. I... what? Yi? Yi is saint vicious's best champion. However. Yi has a bug that stuns him if he loses sight of his target when alpha striking. As such, Saint has said he isn't playing Yi much. I doubt with a bug like that will be see him playing Yi in a tourney.

Also, he bought both the null-magic mantles in one swoop, and after he had already bought mercs and hexdrinker. Wtf?

He ended up building one of those Mantles into a Visage at the end but regardless.
dat Wickd build... jebus. >_>

From what i saw last 2 days, CLG will win this IEM. I know tough battles are ahead but imo they can win. Rooting for fnatic though. Maybe they can win both IEM and Estars. That would be awesome.

Any place to watch the vods that is not the official page?
I'm doing overtime on saturday and I really want to watch the games on dead time.
|
I'm annoyed, I still haven't gotten to watch the CLG vs SK or CLG vs Fnatic games.
Why did they run Kassadin? I'm assuming they did it to counter Orianna but Annie was available and Annie is probably one of the best answers to an Orianna.
|
I also don't understand the kassadin pick and I don't really notice what in their picks was supposed to help vs cho'gath. Kass might be able to harass oriana okayis maybe, but I didn't feel it matched the rest of fnatic lineup.
