Saw a dude on afreeca.tv playing Gragas jungle and never realized he is actually such a well equipped jungler. I've never seen anybody play him jungle in a pro match. Would you say he's not viable enough?

He's been one of the high priority jungle picks in pro play since last patch. He's been played numerous times in the last month, so no, I wouldn't say he's not viable enough.

Gragas is the best jungler on this patch.

He was picked most games in the TSM-C9 series, and fairly often throughout the LCS playoffs. LCK has been less frequently active as playoffs are starting, so I can make judgements from there, and I don't get to see a ton of LPL; in the western scene, however, I'd say he's accepted as a viable meta pick, sometimes even a priority pick.

Graggy jungle is pretty good, has everything a jungler would want in this meta.
1. Early pressure with his dash/stun.
2. Decent mobility
3. Poke
4. Engage with a cask
5. Also the ult smite combo for objective control
6. Tanky as fuck and percent hp dmg with his W

Lol yeah, I checked it and he's absolutely out there. Interesting. I don't understand how Icould've missed it :S. Anyways, you guys also like to play him jungle yourselves? I'm just a low silver and just mostly see him played midlane. dunno how ranked you are.. the dude i saw playing on afreeca is diamond or platinum and yeah he really seemed to like it. continuously played him jungle for a couple of games straight, and with success

Yeah, I see basically all the good Gragas players build Glory. I'm so bad at playing Gragas. I just don't know like the way his kit works and landing his ult at the proper time is difficult for me. With that said, yeah it can be pretty good in the right hands.

It depends what you're playing against. It's a good item on him most of the time but I wouldn't have said it was required either, probably not second.

Mid Gragas is really bad after they reworked him, in my opinion at least. It just doesn't do what it used to and he works much better as a tank/cc now.

You don't really have to know how Gragas works, just e flash onto carries, ult them and enjoy the balance.

i play jungle gragas from time to time since over a year ago, when i decided elise is not working for me, but unlike the pros, i like to build magusenchant and liandrys, and then decide wether to go tanky or more damage, because imo there is little sense in tanking for a random team, and gragas can hurt like hell, +slowbarrel enhances liandrys burn in a siege / stallscenario...

oh yeah and i usually finish Gold V for the season, but always have to work up from silver ~~

Plat V and have seen it many times in the last couple weeks. Common enough that people ban it / priority pick it from time to time.

Yeah the sustain is really the important part. It makes him so much more viable than a lot of other tank junglers.

Problem with not building it is, in most comps these days, you rely on the jungler to provide a lot of the initiation.

Unless you have sivir, or mao top (who'll hopefully be building it too) or your support gets one or something, you're going to get completely outmanoeuvred and be unable to pick proper fights without it.

Patch 5.8 will cut down on the Righteous Glory OPness a little bit, but in 5.7 at least it's basically mandatory on every initiator.
What fun is it being cool if you can’t wear a sombrero?
