I'm loving my Iron Solari, but I had it for sooooooooooooooooooo long that it feels like a baisc skin now. I also got Valkyrie as a mystery gift, but that shield is uglier than me.
PROJECT Leona is top tier. I alternate between that and Sunbathing Leona.

Iron Solari or get out of the lane. There is no other choices.

Ugh, don't remind me. I just started playing again and I already have the urge to buy a skin for Koggle and Amumu. Too bad the only good skins for each are so expensive...

To be fair, there are reasons. With vision being free and Heal being a competitive summoner for ADs mid has become a heck of a lot safer.

Same here. The only reason IS Leona doesn't get play is because I keep missing the sale day for the skin.

How are people feeling about pro games? I'm getting a massive 'meh' for most of them. I am watching a bit of LCK. It feels really slow and farm heavy. Kite and clear/stall seems so strong that every game is a 50 minute slog. Each team maneuvering to get their hypercarries more fed than the others and then hope someone makes a mistake/gets 5th dragon/can force an impossible decision. Pick/counter pick within that seems fairly deep. As well as team synergy* and map strategy. But it doesn't feel fun or exciting. *it feels to me like there are fewer universally strong picks but more picks that go well in concert with others. LCK games are probably also the slowest out of all major regions (can't speak to EU though). NA/LPL are both much faster. LCK seems to play a much more conservative style, especially in the early game. EU is extremely slow. Don't know if it's a case of the matchups being lopsided or not though. NA is also pretty slow. Riot has just made the game extremely punishing to the point where people would rather PvE than PvP. TFW Riot makes death timers longer and towers weaker to have shorter games, and players predictably adjust by taking no risks after the 20 minute mark
|
there's basically no reason for teams not to play risk-averse as fuck because of long timers now so with the exception of a handful of exciting games per week in lcs most teams will be content with honorable no first blood till 20 minutes macro laneswap game
i mean when you look at nonpro/solo queue games or even CS games we're seeing wild high-kill stomp affairs and games that are basically over by 15 mins but it's not translating over to the pro scene everything's just super optimized and homogeneous and no in is really expected or rewarded to play bloodthirsty in lane
so you end up with guys not being incentivized to solo carry anymore but we still have players still able to singlehandedly throw games (ADRYH)
|
Mostly, its just sad when Faker doesn't play Leblanc and Zed when other people do, and even Ahri. Hey guys, Faker seems to know those picks don't help you win very much, they probably don't.

Risk-averse games punish teams bad at execution. That is just, unfortunately, more teams than since S2.

Have to be winning a game to throw it first ...

More teams bad at execution? At least in S2 the teams were risk averse because they were playing Karthus, Anivia, Ori, Kog, Mundo, etc. Now we have teams being risk averse with Lissandra, Corki, Lucian, and multi-AD comps. Sure there is some Ryze and Fiora (who isn't actually weak early, which is dumb), but its not like teams even super-dive those characters.
|
They don't super dive Fiora or Ryze because those champions often spend the first however long trading towers with their teammates on opposite sides of the map. You have to remember that the 2 dominant openings are laneswap and make the game an aram or lane heads up and make TP ganks on bot for kills/tower/drag1.
|
That is what we know. I was just saying that even when a lategame carry is in the game is doesn't change tactics much. The general point is: Long games because lategame champions are OP = S2 Worlds, minor tweaks to some scaling or buffs to earlygame champs fixes most issues. At least we understand what is going on.
Short games because earlygame OP = S3. Pretty fun, but gets annoying when FB decides the game. Fix is nerfing champs like Renekton who dominate too hard early without dropping off enough. Once again, we know what things are.
Long games with early-midgame champions dominating the meta = ???
The current meta is basically like teams running a bunch of Karthus/Kayle/Kog comps but games being very earlygame focused.

Nafta has the right of it. Whether it's just being realized or due to meta/buff shifts wave clear is too strong. I say maybe due to realization mainly because i feel like last year I could predict who was going to win a game based on who had deficient wave clear*. Now everyone picks amazing clear all the time** because if you don't the enemy team sieges you to death with their better clear and poke.
It used to be that only one lane could reliably bring wave clear to the table (mid) and so every other lane had to interact with each other in order to gain an advantage. Most of the heavy clear mid laners were also late game and so there was advantage to playing a low clear/assassin type mid. And even then the two most prolific the "farming" mids of early Eurolane were Karthus and Morgana. Who champions which cannot hard clear waves. In S2 they were still super strong though and so games which were not ended in other lanes immediately tended to go a long time.
The increase in wave clear means poke is much more effective. You can't hide behind creeps that the enemy clears instantly. Which means that in order to get a clean engage you must flank (which means a warding mistake usually). Which means boring games where one team gets a small advantage and then farms until they win, slowly constricting the minions and poke until the other team cracks.
It seems like some hard engage champions like mummy could work wonders but they can't get close enough to pull off their shenanigans in the era of poke and blue trinkets and 45% CDR frozen fist ezreal so the only ones that work reasonably are those that also have hard clear (thinking of Lissandra here)
*aside from other factors like who had viktor(I kid I kid, except in NA/EU) and corki (I don't kid) or who had both (which was seriously bad, each magnifying each other's weaknesses while negating eachothers strengths)
**the fact that a number of ADs have stronger clear now for various reasons and corki getting buffed out of shit tier doesn't help this.
Edit: one thing I am consistently noticing as a mistake that pro teams are making (at least imo) is that they often don't let waves crash into each other when seiging. And don't slow push from their advantage position. If you were to start a slow push just a bit ahead of a turret you would prevent a lot of the more common types of wave clear from hitting the entire wave at once and thus securing a bit of time with the turret/a way in to dive even if you're unable to get more than a single wave stacked up.
When they just clear the incoming wave so that their minions walk into the tower single file it really wastes potential.
Some of this probably comes from solo queue where everyone fights for farm instead of letting the ADC last hit but you would think that someone would have figured it out by now.

What's Kindred's effectiveness at Bot? I played her ADC and did really well with them, but once isn't exactly telling. I bought them to be a flex pick since I queue Jungle/Bot, but often when I play Jungle I feel obligated to go tanky to make up for the rest of the team being squish.
They seem a bit short range, but the burst is pretty good and holy crap is the mobility high if you use Q inside of W to just dance around.

Bought the Project skin, pretty cool! It's a pity I'm not eligible for that cool border though, so people know for a fact that I'm just a mere pleb. The real tragedy, however, is how out of shape I am with Leo. I don't think I got a clear and simple pre-6 kill with her at botlane in ~20 games which is just abyssmal. Sure, the job got done after skirmishes, but that's not what I want. I miss when lvl2/3 was basically a free kill if I played it right - or maybe I miss me playing it right. Should I run Thunderlord on her? Bond of stone feels reaaally lackluster for me. In 20+ minutes I absorbed like 1200 dmg or something. What's the point? Yes, the 4% dmg reduction is no joke, but Leo never really had problems with tanking, and basically my life is only dependant on my engage decisions and how well my team follows it up, or does not, for that reason. I also have no idea what to build on her. I like that speedy stuff, even if the build path is MEH, but that's it, aside from the occasional locket if needed. With utility supports, I feel overwhelmed with the choices.
Also, what's the craze behind boots of swiftness? I admit, I have been following it like a good sheep, building it on almost everyone, even if I had no idea what good it does to justify it having priority over everything else on almost everyone. (support) Lulu was absolute shit with swiftness, had to change it to mobility. The rest was OK, but what it occasionally gave me in chases/escapes, it lacked in roaming power compared to mobies, or the cheap cdr of Ionian. I can understand top laners and junglers buying it, because they made Merc boots shit for no good reason whatsoever, which was the popular choice for many.
And a last question. Is Illaoi any fun? The champ is out for like months now and I still have no idea what she does. I'm nearing 6300 ip on my other acc, and I want to buy another toplaner, but she seems so empty to me. That soul-stealing skill is the most broken CC I ever seen, but that's all.

I think go Thunderlords for damage or SotA for tankiness, bond kinda sucks right now.
Typical tank support build is good on her, FotM -> Locket -> Ruby SS then whatever afterwards
