On the contrary, I've had a lot less trolls but that's probably because I'm around P1/D5 so people are trying really hard to either get promoted or not get demoted. Well, there has been a bit more dodges than usual but that's primary when people dont get their main role - mostly from adcs and mids, I suppose they dont trust others to carry.

I guess the income from fotm situationally makes that a larger gap, but it's still not quite like fotm+tabi is equal to dmp. (although dmp does have a pretty high combine cost, so you have another lull there.) I haven't tried it much, but the few times i did i found the ms and cc from dmp surprisingly useful if you finish it before laning ends. The ms makes your ganks scary even if you have to cancel your q (enemy dodging through minions) and if they're flashless, you can get an extra auto or two on them before they get away by delaying your taunt slightly. + the first auto is another 100 bonus damage, and you get 15 permanent ad from your passive on top of that, which adds up if you're trying to burst someone down in a gank/tower dive. Your gold comparison assumes that the DMP user never buys boots at all. DMP + boots finishes 175g before FotM + Tabi.

Sure, the dmg isn't irrelevant (although it's only 12.5 AD, if we compare DMP vs. Fotm+Tabi it's only 6.25 AD). I think DMP is a fine buy but I personally would still usually prefer the FotM shield and other utilities. Oh shit, didn't notice this is GD. Crossposting to strategy to move there.

this is all assuming the xp given is remotely significant

Does give you some control to choose who you give it to and surprise opponents with it, though.

Step 2. Speed boost your way top and gift ally xp Step 3. Allchat hohoho I think he'll end up permabanned at pro play, sounds like an incredibly OP strat with any degree of coordination. But since soloQ, it'll just be overtuned until/unless they decide to nerf it.

Though itd be pretty troll being duo with like a riven and at level 5 you tell him you can give him 6 and just all-in at 5 lol. Im a bit confused when they say at level 18 the amount of exp zil gives is effectively doubled? All i read is he gains as much exp as he gives. Seems straightforward to me. Zilean can no longer benefit from his passive, so the benefit he'd normally receive is given to his targeted ally instead. Practically speaking the rate at which he banks XP probably doubles at 18.

The actual functionality will be clear once it's on the PBE, at which point we'll know which of these rabbit holes you've been jumping down will be relevant, if any.

My question is at level 18 does he get to give xp when his ally is Y xp from leveling (meaning he gives them 2Y and they're partways to the next level) or 2Y xp from leveling (in which case he levels them and that's it).

You're considering possibilities that are far outside the bounds of probability. That's what I mean by overthinking it. If you take Riot's post at face value the only question worth considering is the one ticklishmusic brought up. Everything else is fairly self-evident.
