And this is not just a criticism to him, but nearly all "analysts" in general. I think for Monte specifically with his little VOD reviews, it's meant to help him dissect the important parts to help him improve as an analyst for casting and with his Countdown show on OGN plus. In general, I feel he's trying to show/talk about the "ideal" situation for each team on how to play their comp out and how to win, because obviously both teams playing a "perfect" game is damn near impossible period. The closest we saw was the 64 minute Jin Air game from early on in the LCK for 2015 (the game where it was 1 kill combined until like the last 10 seconds of the match).

Overall, Garen's laning phase greatly rely on his passive; but his passive's performance greatly depends on his lane matchup. This creates a really weird situation which Garen has some really awesome matchups due to his opponent's inability to poke him (see: Nasus, Riven) and some really bad matchups due to non-stop poking/DoT (see: Rumble, Nidalee). Riven's a shit matchup for Garen, at least in lane. Her cd's line up in such a way that she can do a little more damage then you can on much higher frequency in trades. Your Q also blows against her because it has a super long animation which means it's easy to react to with E or W. Ofcourse, if you manage to get through lane in one piece and without ceding too much farm Garen shits on Riven because silence pretty good vs melee casters.

I'm surprised that Gnar's, Soraka's and Morde's is so low, although I can see it.

Luden's simply too effective at wave clear. :/ though to be fair, when i was on my ap kog binge, pre 5.5, I would go almost triple mana items with roa+seraph+morello, and at that point, I needed voidstaff, and ludens would have been an after thought. had to change my play style, to get away with less mana items. dont worry man, even self proclaimed best coach in the west has made 2 hour long video content explaining in detail why Luden's not viable :>

Except Sion. Fuck that champ's base stats. How do you even play Garen versus those annoying ranged match ups? I take it that it has something to do with intelligent use of your Q as well as just running towards them at appropriate times? I also imagine Boots of Swiftness being a factor as well.
