I am on the RabbitFive bandwagon. Let's go Rabbits!
|
So covering LJL is something I've wanted to do for a long time, and through LiquidLegends I've got a great vehicle to bring you guys news about my favorite underground scene. These guys have been pushing really hard to establish themselves without even having a server to play on, and they've managed to put together an amazing league with pro teams, team houses, and an offline studio with a live audience and broadcasters. The prize pool might not be that big, and they don't have a seed to the Wild Cards yet, but with the Japanese Server launch supposedly coming in 2015, I'm hoping we can show them some support and watch them grow!

If there's one thing I know about Japan, it's that they love waifus, and league has plenty of those. I'm predicting league to take off there

Rascal Jester will forever be da best
|
I don't know if he still plays, but there was a Jungler on Detonation RF named Awakerr. If he's still on the team, then people should really look out for him.
|
Rascal Jesters hype train! They're going to go full sports anime and win through the power of friendship.

I'll always be amused by the disproportionate amount of attention japan gets in anything gaming related

Yup, Awaker is still the jungler for RF. Did you play with him before or something?

Its awesome to see how much they are investing while still not having a server, hopefully Riot finally gets things going.

The Rabbit 5 logo is actually amazing.

Now's my chance to become the Kelsey Moser of Japan. Must pay attention!
|
I don't know why, but I'm so up to this, that my body is not ready enough. And just for the record, there won't be a youtube stream, right?
|
Rascal Jester's logo looks badass imo. Also where do I go find these players accounts? They dont play on NA do they? And does anyone know whats there metagame like? Im hoping its as bloody as China's.

Out of curiosity, how good in Japan on esports? I don't really remember Japanesse players in major esports that are watched here in westeros.
Best luck of them tho.

Best luck of them tho. You should check this AMA comments are pretty accurate to what you're looking for. They stand at fighting games though, in this 2014's year EVO the grand final of Blazblue was great.

So glad to see 7th Heaven made it! Go Yunn, Mueki, and Thinton!

I have taken the liberty to translate the first section (DeT FM's message). I am currently living in Japan and studying Japanese, however, Japanese is not my native language so ShiroKaisen you can tell me what you think. If you guys like it I can translate the rest. ** This is not DIRECTLY translated. It has been formatted for Native English speakers to better understand**
TRANSLATED TEXT: This year's goal for us might be a long road, but as Champions of the 2014 League Season, our goal is to become the World Champions as well as getting our new members in sync to strive for a flawless organization, capable of winning successive championships. Our team has promised to play to our utmost ability and provide an exciting season for viewers of the 2015 LJL. We appreciate all of you cheering us on and we are looking forward to your support!
|
Sorry, that's not exactly correct.
"As the 2014 champions we may be the ones everyone else will be chasing after, but we're aiming to be a team that can win on the world stage, and by bringing in new members we would like to win successive championships, with our team in top form. We promise to dazzle you with our play this season, so please cheer for us throughout the 2015 LJL."
Kinda busy right now, so I can't really get to the rest until later.
|
Was closer than I thought ^^ Anyways was just trying to help
I didn't translate dazzle for 魅了 because it sounds weird in English to me lol
|
It was just announced that Japan will be participating in the Wild Cards this year, as part of the new format.
Expect a bunch of new LJL related stuff this weekend.

I'm gonna watch like two games and pick a random team to support based on totally arbitrary standards, it's gonna be glorious.
Can't wait till everyone on TL becomes a Japan league expert and we flaunt that hipster cred when a Japanese team wins S12 or something.

The issue for me is that I can only glean insight from the LJL games on Youtube, which are outdated in both patch (has old Summoner's Rift still) and players (apaMEN, the support for Rascal Jester, was their midlaner) meaning that I can't get team skill, champion pool, or really much of anything besides which team has the most enjoyable playstyle. Right now that playstyle is Det FM because their playstyle is winning and fuck me if I'm not a TSM fan.

I'm pretty sure every Japanese players play on NA at sometimes or another. Just go queue up past midnight. You always see these Japanese-speaking warrior playing it out at 150-200 ping and I always ask them "yo don't u have garena" and they always tell me that in most cases they get better ping here.
afaik none of them reached challengers here but there are a couple d3-d2 accounts that are def japanese players.

they also play on the korean or chinese server though.

So both Afreeca and Azubu are confirmed as broadcast partners, an English stream has been confirmed, and Detonation FM has gone full-time.
I'm getting pretty excited. Only 20 hours to go!
|
I hope their prize pools expand so that the league attracts more people who are willing to put the time into to getting good at the game. It becomes a lot easier to focus on the game when you're not worried about funding.
I'll definitely watch some of this to see where their scene is at.
