Using harsh language to snap people into action/out of their defeatist attitude is a real way a reasonable human being will talk to another human being they respects. | ||

A friend or colleague talking like that gets people moving. A random kid on the internet talking like that makes me want to punch him in the face. Context and environment is everything. | ||

When you say "its really hard to get chat restricted" you are tacitly admitting that lowering the bar is either your goal, or will be someone else's goal in the foreseeable future. And no, its not a slippery-slope argument, its more akin to an ad-hominem attack, because I am making these statements based on past outrage cycles on Reddit, Facebook, etc. Its usually the same core group of people, and they will constantly move the goalposts back. Which is why I don't like to feed them. | ||

i mean it is kinda what has happened yeah? used to only get manually banned, then tribunal, then automated chat restrictions, now chat restrictions have ranked bans attached and reward removal. | ||

The people who like this system are saying 2 things that are basically irreconcilable: 1. Look, only super toxic people are getting bans anyways, so reasonable people shouldn't worry about the system. 2. There are too many toxic players in my games (thus implicitly saying the bar should be lowered to sweep up more people, possibly reasonable, into the system). There is no conspiracy. There are just immature people with inflated egos and soft rear ends that like to agitate and be outraged. Have you heard of trigger warnings? | ||
