Alright, we're going to call it a day with all the Thorin drama, guys. I figured if it was about SI, onGamers, TSM, etc, it had some relevance to League but somehow you guys managed to devolve the discussion into an issue about race of all things.
Enough is enough. Let's move along now.

So it trades micro skill for team focussed macro skill.
Which would be fine except Riot keep posting things about "not invalidating the laning phase"

yo teut since you're the garen master here is quinn a total bitch to play against for garen toplane?

yeah its the hardest matchup ive played i think only played the mu one game so i dont know for sure, its not the hardest lane to gank with at least. its pretty similar to teemo but its much easier to engage on teemo especially if you get the swiftness boots so its like playing against teemo but not being able to engage its really rough.

I actually quit the game because the nerfs were getting to me. 4.1 preview seems like half a step in the right direction in that at least IE is getting a buff alongside half a dozen more items.

because it gives you 20% ehp against adcs?

Why did people talk about Lux + ardent censer, but forget about Nami? This item is basically made for Nami.
The item is built for Janna and Lulu, not Nami. Nami's heal is a low CD, but her e doesn't increase in damage as you add attack speed. Their AP scaling is relatively low but they get a lot out of CD. Their shields last 6 seconds at max CDR and provide auto attack based damage buffs (Lulu grants her passive to the AD which can be as much as 150 on hit depending on Lulu's AP and level and Janna grants 50+ AD)
The item is 1900 gold for 25% attack speed, 30 AP and 10% CDR, mp5 and move speed. It has amazingly shitty stats unless your champion doesn't actually need stats and just needs to make the carry powerful. The idea that AP focused supports will like this is ridiculous because they're paying over 1000 gold so they can give a Zerk boots equivalent attack speed buff for their carry.
On June 07 2014 02:20 Slayer91 wrote: warmogs FH is actually pretty good. +1k hp +100 armour with good passives of regen and attack speed slow, 400 mana and 20%
that the build up is the worst part. You dont want to stack HP in lane and you don't want to come out of lane with just FH and no hp.
You start with Giants and Warden's mail. You then finish glacial or 'mogs depending on how much gold you have at the next back and finish the heart last, potentially after a shroud item.
On June 07 2014 03:12 YouGotNothin wrote: I'm having trouble thinking of who would really want that item, as most ad casters don't benefit that much from life steal. It seems too slot inefficient for a standard ADC item. For some reason it makes me think of top lane, tiger stance Udyr, he had OP sustain back when his turtle stance gave mana.. small amounts of CDR aren''t great on him.. but I won't complain if it makes him viable top again.
Well the big thing is that its a 2650 item. And because of the lifesteal you're probably beating an IE timing by some 1650 gold. This is an item which you can still finish in lane, and use the MP/HP sustain to win lane. Since you're a caster you can use the newly upgraded Ghostblade as a second item. Sure your total AD is low at only +80, but you've also got 20% CDR and a whole bunch of pen and can spam spells like no tomorrow. Total Cash on this is 5350, which is about second Dblade+IE+Zeal timing. So you're comparing 80 AD, 15% crit, 20 armor pen, and 40% attack speed on demand to 87 AD, 35%(x1.5) crit, and 18% attack speed. If you're an AD caster and get a lot from the pen that is still pretty comparable. If you're able to leverage the mana sustain into won towers/objectives/early poke fights then you're going to be way ahead.
The problem mainly is "what do you do if you don't win the game before they get IE/PD" and the answer is "get fucked". Because at that point you're trying to build an IE to become an actual ADC and they're already there.
The only other thing I can see it doing is return Muramana lategame builds. The mana sustain will make charging tear super easy, and will minimize the mana drain of the Muramana toggle, so someone who has an easy time charging tear can build this into a hard lategame build with Muramana

It also fill the "oh shit, I'm losing lane, don't have enough for a BF but I can't afford to not buy anything." Now it gives people an option with that pickaxe instead of waiting till LW.
|
ADCs who refuse to buy items till they have BF Sword no matter how badly they're losing lane make me so mad.
I don't really see the new item as a duo lane ADC item to be honest, since mana sustain is typically not a giant issue there.
I see it as a solo lane AD caster item. Look at it more on a Jayce or a Quinn or a solo lane AD Ezreal or Pantheon or something like that and I think it makes a lot more sense.
I'm going to try it on Quinn going like NewItem>Brutalizer>LW. Who knows whether or not it will be any good though.

Could be good on Miss Fortune as well, E spam stronk.
Interesting how Essenc Reaver has the same build as Sanguine Blade though.

Wu's is certainly good, I'd say most AOE CC ults are the strongest, Sejuani, Amumu, and Malphite come to mind for basically the same reasons you state for Wu.
|
I like Lux and Ziggs a lot, the waveclear/ long range assist potential gives a lot of map pressure. On the other hand, Sona and Hec ults have so much style, and they used to be my main champs before they were nerfed into obsolescence.

Sounds like a lot of pro player streams if they actually talk.
