Playing without an escape feels ok most of the time. Sivir/jinx/lucian have been very popular for a couple of months, draven is making a comeback and out this four, only lucian has an escape. Kog is not really at a deficit here. The biggest problem have been the laning phase, playing against jinx/sivir/lucian + thresh/annie/leona is really hard no matter your support. I've accepted the fact that I'll usually lose lane and hope to be more efficient later, but that only works if your other lanes can do fine. I'm also surprised he isn't tried more in competitive play. I won't get a lane swap in solo queue to avoid the current stron botlanes, but that should be a big deal in competitive play. Lastly, I think he is in a better state than vayne at the moment, who according to lolking is still played quite a lot. They share issues during the laning phase, but vayne is worse at dealing with multiple threats (can only condemn one, loses a lot of dps if changing targets, no aoe). Sivir has an escape once she hits level 6, and Jinx just throws down flame spitters in front of her and runs away. Draven at least has his E. All Kogmaw has is a weak slow. | ||

If he had built most of a Randuin's or something instead of Last Whisper, he would have survived to actually do damage, but after seeing that he was close(tm) to killing Gragas, he probably just tunneled on getting damage. Building damage on a bruiser when behind is like trying to swim up a waterfall. -__-" | ||

From what I've seen it's the most effective. 2 offensive items into defense. The only staple offensive item is shiv, the rest is still debatable. I think ghostblade deserves to be looked at on him more though. For defence, I like randuins and banshees, the order of which depends on their team and the state of the game. | ||

As much as I hate to admit it, I'm pretty sure best build is Shiv + IE into tanky items like Randuins, Banshees, Sunfire and Spirit Visage. Which is sad, cause I was really hoping we'd see Atmas be used again in pro play, as Yasuo's probably the only champ who can get the most out of it now with current items in the game. | ||
