interesting choices there. Wonder if IWD has got his rage problems under control thanks to the 1 year ban, must admit I haven't heard a thing from him in that time.

To be honest I expected Nijacky to be benched and maybe Edward to go back to Europe, but I didn't think they'd change the roster that much. Guess we will have to see how they mesh and if they can finally make S4 their own instead of being just behind the top teams.

As per usual Curse going for as much big name flare as they can afford.

Honestly this team has a lot of potential. If they practice together a lot between now and the new year they can compete imo.

I expect them to still fail, just like clg just picking up names people already know instead of actually finding good players.

Not gonna lie I really don't like IWD on this team. Every time I've seen him play in amateur tournaments he hasn't looked that great and there is still the great big question mark about if his attitude has changed. I find it disappointing Curse went with him instead of giving some lesser known talent a chance, but it may also be there was some back room deal or something keeping him on a shorter leash potentially.

I don't understand the Cop substitute thing, I mean if Aphro is a starter on the team, why keep Cop? Having a coordinated botlane is very hard to achieve, but it is also extremely important at hight level. So if you keep Cop, it means you don't fully trust Aphro's ability and you want a back up in case he doesn't live up to expectations. And for that you give Zekent another AD he has to work with and get good with in case the plan A doesn't work? Also, how do they expect aphro to feel if he has some guy ready to jump in his spot if things get hard, which they will because this is 4 soloqueue players and voyboy stuck in one team... Maybe I am making a big deal out of nothing but I am very weirded out by this Cop substitute announcement...
It's either they don't trust aphro or they felt bad about letting cop go... And in a completly new team, aphro will start bad and it will only be bias confirmation after that

Or its just in case Aphro has some personal things to attend to. Like when Crumbzz went to a wedding and his substitute came in.

Cop is on their 2nd team (LoLPro) anyway, so why not also make him sub? Also it might be used to pressure Aphro in case he doesnt practise hard enough which I could very well imagine.

I think it's funny how before his 1-year suspension no one ever complained about IWD's behavior or having a bad attitude since it was all only occuring in solo queue, never in interviews, and no one from Dignitas ever complained about his attitude on the team or anything (in fact most of Dig seemed kind of bummed that their teammate got suspended). But now anytime someone brings up his name it's his attitude that gets alluded to.

For what it's worth I don't think IWD will do well. I don't have much confidence that the new Curse line up will be any better than the old one (they'll probably be a middle of the pack team). But could we, at the very least, not talk about IWD's 'attitude problems' unless his teammates specifically address it? Since, once again, it was never his attitude in competitive play that got him into trouble it was his attitude in solo queue. No one talks about HSGG or Regi or any of the early streamers who were crazy BM every game and streamed it but everyone talks about IWD even though they probably never played with him or saw him actually act BM.

I'm shocked that Voyboy didn't get benched. IMO he was the least skilled player on their roster. I watch his stream once in a while, and I feel that his mechanics are not up to par.

Lets give em a few weeks before we judge their play. They are obviously good enough to stomp ranked 5's into the ground (hilarious stream at the moment, they won in 16min just now)

I played with IWD a long time ago, he was incredibly toxic, I ended up ignoring him and reporting after the game.

I played with him more recently and he wasn't toxic at all, it is obvious hes made an effort to improve, or at least to not get banned again.

I really really doubt his attitude will cause any problems for Curse.

it's going to be a long while, top5 of NA can't play in tournaments afaik so we'll only get to see Curse vs. Challenger teams or worse for the foreseeable future.

Voyboy is a potential #1 on Twitch any time he streams, this might not be the whole reason he was kept but it is very unlikely that it was not a factor.

Yeah he is one of the best streamers both in regards to popularity as well as actually streaming decent sessions often.
Still I'd consider him one of the top 3 top laners in the US, so I'm not really sure what the guy who wants him thrown out is smoking

In regards to todays stream I think their new ranked 5 is gold at best. Just watched them stomp 2 teams in under 20 minutes :D

There aren't many proven ADC+Support combos who aren't in the LCS, to my knowledge. Robert, who would be a clear upgrade, is probably being scouted by Vulcun (as their sub), or else on a new amateur team (given the implosion of TBD, not sure where he went).

Aphro isn't the worst choice. He use to be pretty hype end of S2/Beginning of S3, but then he 1) kept choking at LANs and 2) was picked up by/joined CLG to be a support and we all know how that went lol. His ADC play was so flashy during the Solomid Tourneys. I remember 7 minute BT Aphro Draven. True terror. Was one of the reasons why mancloud remained so undervalued until Aphro left to join CLG for Aphrolift.

I said it before, but zekent (despite being the nicest guy) never really impressed me with his play, and neither has IWD (I never liked his jungling on Dig, though perhaps I was nostalgic for the Jatt days).

Agree with a lot of this.

Aphro is probably on the same level with Cop skillwise but is way more likely to win/lose a game in a crazy play wheras Cop is rarely the reason Curse wins a game or loses a game.
Zekent is so blah, he plays a beast Janna but he's just decent, really. the NA Support pool is so shallow though.
IWD wasn't that good on Curse academy from the games I watched, so I don't hold out much hope for him.

Overall its a team that has a lot of flash, but I'm not sure it has too much substance, unless Pobelter really unlocks his potential in the LCS.

I think SV as coach could have a lot of potential. Not only does he have a lot of actual LCS experience, he also seems very mature compared to other pro players, a rare combination and ideal for a coach. If nothing else, the team will likely respect him, which is important.

I mean, I can understand where Liquid is going with this. He's got a pretty good pair of solo laners, and now has an impactful ADC (the impact being potentially both ways). The jungler and support/shotcaller just needs to be reliable/non-toxic to the team (aka, actually smite objectives/makes good calls/isn't the reason for player departures/*cough*notSV*cough*), and their lineup functions fairly well. While I'm sure they'd like a jungle/support upgrade, there isn't any clear ones that aren't currently committed. They will probably end up scouting more talent via their Academy team, though.

I don't hate their lineup, no matter how unimpressive IWD and Zekent are. But I would be very cautious in saying that they're going to sweep LCS or something silly. All three lanes have the potential to carry games (instead of really only Voy, given Cop's best KDA and Jacky's perpetual slump), but how likely they're team functions in actually doing so is another question entirely.

Depends on how drunk he gets and how often he yells at the team.

Though I suppose having the coach yell at the team for their mistakes after a game is more healthy then having the captain blame his teammates (and not taking any responsibility) during the game. So there is that.

LOL. I don't even know how to respond to this.

Voyboy, slumping last split imo, but still best player on team. The problem is none of his champ pool overlapped with op'd FotM. Nyjacky in spring split was pretty good, he was a stable player, then summer split came around, and he played like SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.

I like aphro for the switch over Cop. When you get to the higher echelon of play, it's always better to go for risky play maker than stable player.

Does that mean Liquid should've brought on Fabbbby then?

They're just waiting for Altec to turn 17. It's not like cops going anywhere either.

I doubt his LCS experience is gonna do much for his coaching. Teaching people how to win as a team in an abstract game like lol is really difficult, you have to be able to break things down and then create exercises to help make a habit out of good play.

Yeah, I agree. Their team was just too squishy to deal their damage. Plus if an LCS game someone probably would have banned Zed lol.

Liquid:
"Going to answer some questions regarding the new roster for Team Curse. As many of you know we made a necessary announcement regarding our roster heading into the NACL Tournament (http://lol.gamepedia.com/Articles:North_American_Challenger_League_announces_35K_Challenger_Season[1] ). Curse is still in the process of trying out candidates for the finalized roster for Season 4. Our team has to not only be able to qualify but be a serious contender throughout the season. I've used the time since our initial roster decisions to carefully monitor the players individual behavior, teamwork, mechanics and synergy to find the very best fit before signing contracts with either of these players. I personally watched all tournament matches, listened into scrims and participated in all analyst training with the team and concluded that there were better alternatives to both Aphromoo and Pobelter continuing to play for the main roster. I of course appreciate both of them for trying out and expressing interest for playing for Curse."

Seems reversed engineered to me. There was nothing in the initial announcement regarding the new Curse line up that suggested it was all "tryouts".
If you're holding tryouts you should probably be very open with this so that people don't get too attached to the new roster.

curse's roster management is god awful. i don't know what they are doing with the constant shuffling, it's leaving such a bad image on the team.

Also Quas might be joining Curse.

http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/1oekre/looks_like_quas_will_join_curse_and_replace/

That guy looked really impressive in the recent GGLA games. GGLA also just beat Quantic 2-1 in the ALCS quafier. And suddenly yesterday they stopped playing in this qualifier because no Quas. Hm.

Really talented guy apparently, would be surprising if he was used for mid lane though.

edit:
Yep, seems like Quas to Curse is a done deal. Post from ggLA guy Livingstonne:

Here at ggLA, we've had a pretty scrambled day, but in no way do we blame Curse or Quas for this. We are all big sports fans and we understand what it means to run a small market team compared to a massive giant like Curse Gaming. We have always been prepared for a scenario like this to happen and we will continue to move forward towards our goal of the LCS.

We want to congratulate Quas on his new spot at Curse Gaming and wish them the best of luck in the LCS Promotions!

Speculation is that Voyboy actually wants to play mid lane, which is why he was unhappy with Pobelter and would prefer Quas.
