Realistically though; Nien is a good teamfighter, and he's very strong outside of laning phase. But his laning phase is pretty suspect; it's similar to Cop in spring split. Voyboy was able to draw a lot of pressure off of botlane. Doublelift and Link doing the same for Nien.

Let's have a serious discussion here about Nien and CLG. I think for the amount of time that Nien has spent learning Top Lane and his performance in the first three weeks of NA LCS, CLG has done a solid job molding him into what the team needs. He has demonstrated a flexible pool of champions. Not all of the champions he's used have been proficient but he is certainly not held back by mechanics. He knows how to apply pressure, split push, and not die in the process. Today, he's shown that he's more than capable from playing from a position where he's ahead (despite coming to lane behind). You say his laning is suspect. What specifically? I don't feel like he's lost any 1v1s Top to a drastic degree. He could practice 1v2s more but realistically that applies to every NA Top. Champion wise, Rumble is a must learn for him but he's showing a lot of champs already. I do feel like Cheep is just trolling and Nien has done above and beyond what most people thought he was capable of at the start of the season. If you want to criticize Nien, that's fine, but be specific. Remember that he isn't meant to carry. Voy was far less successful as a Top Lane than Nien is currently. Even if you take Dyrus and put him on CLG, at this point, I wouldn't even consider that an upgrade. I reiterate that CLG, as a team, has made Nien into the Top Lane they need. Nien now needs to step up and becomes the Top Lane CLG deserves. The team put a lot of faith in him when he recruit him for an entirely new role. As one of the resident CLG fans on TL, I don't think he's disappointed yet.

As one of the resident CLG fans on TL, I don't think he's disappointed yet. I was more so comparing Nien to Spring Split Cop; in the sense that in the lane Cop looked really proficient; but in reality we know he's very mediocre in lane. The reason for this? Cuz Voyboy used to be able to create a ton of pressure; making it hard for jungler to pressure onto Cop; thus Cop looked good. The second Voyboy started slumping; Cop looks real shit; coincidence? nope. VES has similar prospect; frommaplestreet looks competent in lane; but that has a lot to do with the pressure Cris creates; Same thing happens with Coast; with zionspartan too. Especially in todays game; we saw Doublelift bring down Regi and TOO into his lane; what happens? Link goes straight top and presses on Dyrus hard; and grabs kill. Also; you see Dyrus play very tentative because he knows TOO gunna be hovering bot all game; so what can he do as kennnen? He loses a lot of ability to poke/harass Nien; cuz he's constantly afraid of Jiji; knowing that TOO is not going to be there. Nien knows Jiji is always there; especially with psuedo-global; so he can always play aggressive on to Dyrus; with no fear of repercussion. And as we know from 1v1 tournaments; the aggressive plays are almost always rewarded in lane. So pretty much came down to the fact that Nien had the option to be aggressive; and he used it, and Dyrus didn't so he just sat in lane getting style'd on by Nien's Elise.

Even if you don't lose much HP nor blow flash, the simple fact that the jungler can be there, waiting for you to walk past river again to jump you, will zone you and put you behind. Of course you can plan a countergank with your jungler too. I mean I'm aware that you can get ganked but you're pantheon and you can just push wave -> ping 2 -> all in with ignite and deny them an entire 2 waves in some matchups. Even if the jungler comes when you're pushing that hard and you ping 2 you can sometimes win with your creep backup and dblade stats + your jungler can be there too. It's not like just because you start dblade you autolose lane, especially if you picked the matchup.

I know the answer is all of the above, but I'm curious about the specific obstacles you English content creators face when dealing with Chinese eSports. addendum: Are content producers and the "English" LoL community just not interested enough in the Chinese scene to be worth the effort?

Stream clients : Often require plugins, and some of the others use your upload to redistribute content. Lack of coverage: Few high level CN players stream. Times: In general, asian scene is too late for NA and too early for europe

Do they shut down on unofficial/"illegal" coverage? Is it hard to get in contact with members of the Chinese LoL scene? Is the content just hard to access and of low quality? Is the language barrier an impassable hurdle? I know the answer is all of the below, but I'm curious about the specific obstacles you English content people face when dealing with Chinese eSports. addendum: Are content producers and the "English" LoL community just not interested enough in the Chinese scene to be worth the effort? addendum 2: Brazilian regionals is in a little over 2 weeks. Winner goes to Gamescom to fight for Worlds spots. I've been thinking about doing some English coverage for that since I'm friends with Philip (coach of CNB) and can probably get in contact with necrosed (coach of paiN). Would people be interested? Yes it's hard to get permission. You might be able to restream but I never do that, it's bad business. The big problem in my experience if Chinese sponsors give 0 shits about anything but Chinese viewers, so there is little incentive to seek out streamers. On a related note, I'm sort of curious whether Tencent actually ever tried to approach GTV or Gamefy to get LPL broadcast on TV through them. Signing with PLU (who as far as I'm aware only produced online content prior to this) seems like a weird move to me because PLU's production has never struck me as very good compared to the major TV broadcast companies.

I can understand them not doing English coverage of their own or even caring, but are they against some third party doing it for them voluntarily? Yes it's absurdly hard. The only easy-ish one (for me) is StarsWar because we have been doing them since StarsWar 5 or 6 across multiple titles. But I think even that might be out now, as it looks like maybe Azubu bought the broadcast rights (and never broadcasts it in English), but not 100% sure. Been knocking on the door for SW8.
