It was fun pirate casting LPL before my stream got shut down. I really wish things would hurry along and give us a proper Eng. cast though, Pastry and Papa for Asia and Diamond for NA would be sweet (then I could hog the EU broadcast times hues)

I hear you, I want it so fucking bad too. I love the content, which is why I always went for Asian content. Hard to do with Azubu buying up everything and never English casting it however along with all the other bullshit.

Yes it's absurdly hard. The only easy-ish one (for me) is StarsWar because we have been doing them since StarsWar 5 or 6 across multiple titles. But I think even that might be out now, as it looks like maybe Azubu bought the broadcast rights (and never broadcasts it in English), but not 100% sure. Been knocking on the door for SW8.

I think what we need is some brave souls (without any accountability or much to lose) to just not give a fuck and rebroadcast and provide quality content unofficially. If it gets really popular and shut down, at least English coverage with be on Chinese organizer's radar and they might be consider doing it through an official channel.

Why is it so harder to coverage the Chinese scene? Is it hard to get rebroadcast right and official stamp of approval to do coverage? Do they shut down on unofficial/"illegal" coverage? Is it hard to get in contact with members of the Chinese LoL scene? Is the content just hard to access and of low quality? Is the language barrier an impassable hurdle?

I know the answer is all of the below, but I'm curious about the specific obstacles you English content people face when dealing with Chinese eSports.

addendum: Are content producers and the "English" LoL community just not interested enough in the Chinese scene to be worth the effort?

If you try to get into china as a journalist of any kind they tell you to go fuck yourself, according to PA. Even for videogames.

I just discovered something sort of interesting about Lissandra: Her Q procs spellvamp as both a single target spell for the first hit, and then the blow through procs again as a muti target.
In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

I know it's looked down on nowadays, but there was a lot of TL restreaming going on for BW. This was mostly due to the lack of support for the American scene. That is, if you aren't actually in the business side of things, there might be some incentive there to do it anyways.

They know it can be popular, it's not a question of that, stream numbers are very public. It's politics and also a lot of "Why bother, our sponsors don't care?" I remember I tried in SC2 to get some like $30k tournament that was not English casted. I even got the StarsWar guy to personally make the intro and recommend me to them. I offered a free stream, all overlays of their sponsors on every page, we would take care of production, and I even had a Chinese B.net acct to do the replay recording myself (was REALLY uncommmon back then). All they literally had to do to get 100's of thousands of views was say yes, not a single thing more. They flat turned me down and said if their sponsors don't care about non-Chinese viewers, they don't care.

It's too bad, so much good content I would jump on in a heartbeat.

Times were VERY VERY different in BW. Nothing that happened then really applies to anything anymore.

Gamefy actually has a Twitch stream, they just haven't produced any LoL content since last G-League.

As much as I wish there was more English coverage, I don't blame them. It's a lot of hassle and they have next to nothing to gain from it.

Imagine if the tables were turned and some freelance Chinese broadcasters tried to cover western tournaments, I doubt most would cooperate and give them spec spots.

Have you tried reaching out to Chaox and get a introduction through him about LPL? He seems to be on friendly terms with several players and shoutcasters.

All they have to do is say "yes" and for LoL provide us with tournament realm logins (which I already have as is). That's it.

I don't know many LoL pros, most of the players I know are SC2 ;( . Only really know Elementz and Nintendude, and not very well at that, just casual acquaintances.

Also, Cool and gogoing both losing to iG-Y's dargon in under 3 minutes pretty much just affirms what I already knew about OMG--fantastic teamplay but comparatively unimpressive individual skill.

Huh, thats really interesting. Spectral Wraith could be pretty darn nice on her.

I wonder if her ulti also has that kind of interaction?

Off topic, but this right here is a prime example of why Travis is pretty much our only access to the pros. Breaking into the "old boys club" has always been a tough barrier to entry for content creators.

Idk if that's Travis' fault. I met him IRL (turns out he knows who I am) and he was pretty cool. You sort of have to get in at ground level when everything is starting (which is what happened to me in SC2), and I'm late to the party in LoL.

Still I had hoped all the badass SC2 content we made would help out, but since LoL is a bit in it's own world as far as E-Sports, hasn't worked out well for me.

OMG just played trash, lol.

No clue what Lovelin was doing, MF vs Vayne should be won on MF being able to push and take the tower with max E. Even if he wanted to do that level 1 all-in, taking Q instead of W takes zero sense.

I wasn't trying to say anything bad about Travis. I just wanted to point out that he's one of the very few media people with direct access to the pros and it's very very hard to get where he is.

btw I'm still waiting on some TL writers to chime in on this discussion about getting access and permission to cover Chinese events.

Oh yea, for sure. He's got the golden key to the city.
