Elementz as coach sounds questionable... I mean his deficits seemed to be evident in both mechanics and decision making... If he was a great decision maker, and 'student of the game', but poor mechanically, then it makes sense... guess we'll have to see.

Would it be possible for us to get you to elaborate a bit on how your and liquid's vision on how to coach a lcs team "clashed"?

would be totally understandable if you wouldn't want to talk about what's going on behind the scenes though

Well he might not be that smart or good but he will be better than most coaches I think. Also just having the perspective from someone who plays the game at a decent level but isn't a player might be pretty helpful. It's a step in the right direction imo.

mechanics in LoL is basically just timing and reaction while elementz was equally mediocre at all areas of the game

barrier/ignite, ad runes lets you start with 80/+8 true damage, boosted 5 more with ignite. that's really crazy poke damage early on. playstyle is also really easy since it's just push lane, harrass when you can, W when jungler ganks come.

i start with a dblade, get 1-2 more and then make spirit of the elder lizard, skipping boots. that progression of items is really tough for a typical mid to keep up with. rockets proccing lizard buff on small AoE is just a bonus

What do you buy after elder lizard? Traditional adc build or more of a tanky ad bruiser build?

tanky ad bruiser. picked up zeke's pretty often

Yeah, thats what I'm saying. It didn't seem like it was a case where "I'm really smart and I know what I'm doing, if only these fat fingers would do what I want them too!". Like, his drafting seemed bad, his in game decision making seemed bad, in addition to obvious mechanical deficits.

That being said... maybe it's less of a "he'll help us get better" move, and more of a PR / fan support move. Personally I don't really care for elementz, but there is some evidence to suggest that he has a decent sized, loyal fan-base.

Saying anything would be disrespectful and unprofessional. The only reason I answered that question was because so many people wanted to know if I'm continuing with curse. When I say "no" the next logical question is "why?" So I said we didn't agree on some things. There was no "clash".

Coach doesn't have to do any of that though. Just having someone there to force proper practice schedules seems like a good idea. That and healthy living. Not everyone has to be good or smart at the game to help elevate the teams level of play

I hope they do, because they introduced an item like Liandry's. I don't feel like people have more MR than they used to. The ADC might, but it's worth a lot less than it used to be. And that's not even necessarily true, banshee's veil was very common as a 6th item because the MR was actually worth something (and the spell shield wasn't prone to being shut off for long periods of time due to poke).

If you get hit by someone with a Liandry's that has a damage over time spell, it burns off an inordinate amount of your health. It's almost like everyone is running around with a current health version of Brand passive. Which is fairly close to being the complete opposite of what FoN was. And there aren't really any other big ticket regen items out there now either, so you're pretty much compelled to blue pill and come back. If homeguards didn't exist, this would be obscene. It still is obscene in my opinion.

Ok, I'd consider what you're describing to be a manager type of thing rather than a coach. Maybe that's just me, not sure if other people make this distinction as well. To me, coach implies game/strategy related stuff, while manager refers to IRL stuff (Living arrangements, transportation, scheduling, PR stuff, sponsor liaison) etc. Obviously the two roles can be performed by one person, but imo that's not necessarily the case.

All this poppy talk, and no one mentioned how ridiculous her passive is. If poppy ever got reworked, you know Riot will hit that so hard destroying an integral part of her current design. Poppy players will weep for eternity(that's pretending there are actual poppy mains). Preemptive GG RIOT GG

If Elementz "coaches" by resolving disputes, keeping the players organized and on a schedule, and such then I think he'll be great at that role. He's a likeable dude and I'm sure having someone like that will be really helpful to the team.

If he "coaches" by coming up with strategies for the team, analyzing their replays, and stuff like that then GGU/TCG is gonna have a bad time this season.

All this talk about elementz

Its entirely possible the guy makes bad decisions in the moment, theres a very big difference between analysing a play as you watch it / rewatch it / watch it again and making the right move in a situation thats unfolding while you play.

I feel like every NA pro is way too shy/awkward to have the kind of persona that FBH had.

What do people think about Morello's comments on MR by the way? Saw it on reddit here is the quote though:

Xyph and I have been debating this one a bit. While I'm still considering a lot about MR (with Health being better, it does a lot to deal with many traditional mages), I think there's one definite problem at least; even if balanced, MR doesn't have any real big-ticket items to go "ya know, their Akali is really big and I need to deal with it" style items like Randuin's Omen.

So, we're still talking about the raw balance (likely at least close), but I do agree MR doesn't feel as good as HP or armor.

Gotta say that I really hope they don't re-introduce FoN or some other big MR item. I don't understand why I keep seeing people bitch on reddit since, imo, S3 is like the best time for people who hated playing against heavy magic dealers since we see so many more physical damage based teams and Bulwark means that teams typically have significantly more MR than they did before.

'nother edit:
I mean, if the problem is that Rumble, Ryze, and Karthus are problematic and there's no good item to reduce their consistent DPS then maybe the problem lies with Rumble, Ryze, and Karthus not with a lack of big ticket MR items.

The problem with MR not "feeling" as good as HP or Armor has to do with champion design and the current metagame more than item choice. Right now there's a lot of importance in burst damage - the nerfs to resistances and aspd, buffs to % penetration, and riot's hard-on for %HP damage all contribute to this. When burst is so important, cooldowns become more valuable - you won't for instance see a Lux blow all her spells on a Renekton with 3k HP when Zed, Jarvan, Diana, etc. are lurking nearby, ready to steal her lunch money. So there's really no need for Renekton or any similar bruiser to stack MR except in some fringe cases. Against champions that do a lot of incidental magic damage - Karthus, Nasus, Malzahar, Rumble, etc - buying Spirit Visage + Hexdrinker can sometimes be warranted, but I think mitigating damage from the enemy ADC is far more important.

Can someone explain to me why Riot thinks that a heavy burst meta as opposed to a sustained damage meta is good?
