I'd campaign for Dig.Shake, but damnit he isn't old enough.

When I think about this seriously and not think about basketball, the suspension for a year is pretty harsh and out of the blue. Why not suspension for 2-3 months? 4 months? What precedent do they have for a year?
Riot absolutely killed his career. There's no reason why they couldn't just put a huge dent in it, they just had to put the knife in and twist it a little too.
In pro sports there's always curiosity for first-time offense that's never happened, or repeat offenses because of the precedent it sets, and that usually gets battled by the unions: ex. NFL Saints bounty scandal.
Curious if there were ulterior motives; power flexing, making waves in competitive gaming world, etc...
I do hope he had some sort of warning that it would affect his competitive play too.

Like i say good riddance, this game is a happier place with one toxic guy less. Maybe him losing on that 30k will change his attitude more, then those 8 warnings / temp bans he got.

Oh wow really a 1 year ban is ridiculously excessive, I dont mind the fact they ban all his accounts and his smurfs, its fine that he has to start from scratch, but maybe should be missing a specific amount of game. Im happy Riot is taking a stance against Pros as well but this is ridiculous.

Riot has said that IWD was 300% more toxic than the next pro.
Also, those of you who want dig to defend IWD will probably be disappointed:
Today i was informed by riot that I will be suspended for 1 year of the Season 3 Championship Series. Although the ruling is extremely tough, I agree with riot that player sportsmanship is a serious matter and i want to apologize to anyone that i've offended in game and my fans. I fully understand that pro players are viewed as role models and should act accordingly. I'd like to thank my teammates and the whole Dignitas organization for the amazing year that i have spent with them and wish the team the best of luck going into season 3. Personally I will not let this end my dreams of being a professional league of legends player. During my suspension I intend to keep my mechanics in top form and remain a competitive jungler. After my suspension i hope to rejoin the championship series and once again compete at the highest level. League of Legends is my life, and i will do everything in my power to play as long as possible. If there isn't a clear and defined set of rules with punishment set accordingly then it's really just a wannabe set of judge, jury's and executioners making things up as they go. It's really hard to rationalize how the game all of a sudden is better without him. Riot is showing how young their staff is with stuff like this. It's obvious their experience relative to established sports is incredibly limited. It's like banning someone from basketball for calling his teammates trash, it's a team issue. It's better to just ban him from casual play and have him only able to play in private games.

They could make a new account, play on a different server, or whatever. Did HotshotGG, saintvicious, imaqtpie, TD, Reginald, Doublelift, etc. get perm-banned?
I think calling every player trash, streaming yourself screaming at a random solo queue player, raging at your teammates on stream like a child, or any number of other things those guys have done on the public stage makes the scene look a lot worse than another player getting a perm ban. When someone tells me that League pro got perm banned and another League pro streamed himself ranking girls who play League by their looks I'm probably gonna think worse on the guy who's ranking chicks than the guy who got perm banned.
Regardless it's irrelevant because in any other eSport IWD being perm banned wouldn't have hurt his competitive career.

And now the Quantic LoL team that barely lived is dead already ;-;

Very disappointing news to me. Although this gives Dignitas the chance to pick up someone who's actually good at jungling. HotshotGG, saintvicious, imaqtpie, TD and members of M5 as you've said, Reginald, Doublelift... There are so many players who have made the competitive scene look worse than IWD. Which is why this punishment makes so little sense to me. So I can be a dick on a public stage and make the entire scene look bad but if I do it multiple times out of the public spotlight it's going to get me banned for a year? It isn't basically killing his career. His career is over lol. No one is gonna pick him up a year from now and he won't really be able to practice for the next month or so while he levels a brand new account and gets it to high Elo again. Yes, I understand he's a repeat offender, but at worst I'd equate his actions to someone talking shit all game in a basketball game. Equate him to say a Rasheed Wallace, someone known for talking shit all game long. Yes, he gets his fair share of suspensions because of his piss poor behavior on the court, but would you ever suspend him a year because he wanted to talk shit at refs and other players and yell "BALL DONT LIE" all game long? Can't say I agree with Riot at all on this one, even though I think it makes Dignitas a stronger team. You can't somehow make analogies like that since this has nothing to do with in a competitive game. If you want to do it your way it would be more akin to this Rasheed Wallace person playing basketball games with fans and shit talking them constantly/poor behaviour. There's a difference between talking his to your competition in a game and to others. That analogy doesn't work either, a pro basketball player isn't going to get suspended for kicking a bunch of random people's asses in a pick-up game and talking shit the entire time. If he was suspended for that exact thing it would be closer to this situation. Actually, NBA players get fined often for speaking unfavorable quotes to the public. If a player were to constantly be out in the public making the league look bad (trash talking pick up games), I wouldn't be surprised if they suspended the player for a long period either. Edit: Though I'm not saying what Riot did was right or fair. It does seem too harsh IMO. I have never in my life heard of a player in the NBA get in trouble for shit talking during a pick up game. This is ridiculous. It completely ruins IWD's career. Not because he acted unprofessionally in a competitive setting or in a public interview but during his solo queue games that he didn't even stream he acted like a dick. I don't care if he was an asshole in one thousand solo queue games it isn't grounds to not allow someone to play competitively. I respectfully disagree. LoL differs from other sports by having a central organ for both amateur and competitive play (Riot), and they make the rules. The rules are that you adhere to the Summoner's Code at all times, not just in your competitive matches. In most sports you wouldn't be banned from competitive play for being an ass, but other sports are different in organization. As far as this ruining his career, he should've thought about that after being warned about permbanning 8 times. Imo Riot has been fairly lenient, they dish out the perm bans way faster to non-pros. The problem is that Riot shouldn't have full control over their scene. They control too much. They're the judge jury and executioner. If this happened in StarCraft Blizzard could just ban a player from their server but that wouldn't ruin the player's competitive career. They could make a new account, play on a different server, or whatever. Did HotshotGG, saintvicious, imaqtpie, TD, Reginald, Doublelift, etc. get perm-banned? Just to be clear, did they do it on stream or in chat?

Saint I know has been temp banned previously due to his ingame actions and I am fairly certain so have the others. While I love Saint I'll admit he's got his ahh, issues in solo que but he's tended to at least keep his actions on stream if they are negative and not in game. Then again maybe's hes gotten worse now, I've not been able to watch much of him as of late between own3d being a jerk and other stuffs.
