Cause roiding up and cheating is clearly at the same level of punishment as taunting other people in game. Yes, I understand he's a repeat offender, but at worst I'd equate his actions to someone talking shit all game in a basketball game. Equate him to say a Rasheed Wallace, someone known for talking shit all game long. Yes, he gets his fair share of suspensions because of his piss poor behavior on the court, but would you ever suspend him a year because he wanted to talk shit at refs and other players and yell "BALL DONT LIE" all game long? Can't say I agree with Riot at all on this one, even though I think it makes Dignitas a stronger team. You can't somehow make analogies like that since this has nothing to do with in a competitive game. If you want to do it your way it would be more akin to this Rasheed Wallace person playing basketball games with fans and shit talking them constantly/poor behaviour. There's a difference between talking his to your competition in a game and to others. That analogy doesn't work either, a pro basketball player isn't going to get suspended for kicking a bunch of random people's asses in a pick-up game and talking shit the entire time. If he was suspended for that exact thing it would be closer to this situation. Actually, NBA players get fined often for speaking unfavorable quotes to the public. If a player were to constantly be out in the public making the league look bad (trash talking pick up games), I wouldn't be surprised if they suspended the player for a long period either. Edit: Though I'm not saying what Riot did was right or fair. It does seem too harsh IMO. I have never in my life heard of a player in the NBA get in trouble for shit talking during a pick up game. This is ridiculous. It completely ruins IWD's career. Not because he acted unprofessionally in a competitive setting or in a public interview but during his solo queue games that he didn't even stream he acted like a dick. I don't care if he was an asshole in one thousand solo queue games it isn't grounds to not allow someone to play competitively. It's a growing trend and it makes me so sad. Why is shit talking being discouraged in gaming? There's so much worse on the internet, but we're not allowed to swear or say anything that can be hurtful? Fuck that.
The way I see it is that traditionally, gamers have pretty shitty lives so they go home and verbally abuse/grief/troll people in some online game or forum thereof. This in turn drives away well-adjusted non-gamers who maybe want to check out a video game just to have some fun once in a while.
It's not "fair" or anything, Riot just wants LoL to become more and more mainstream. Killing the perception that online games are filled with Xbox Live kiddies, and that progamers are people with the exact same personalities but in their 20's, (which is sadly true in many cases) is a good way to start.

Then the teams have nothing since Riot IS the LoL tournament scene. New teams will always emerge, that's just shooting themselves in the foot. I doubt teams will pull out because it's far less risky than just telling their players to "not be dicks in solo q". One method has huge potential risk while the other method there is no risk. Riot has always had all the power, now they decided to flex it a bit more it seems.

How about examples like a MMA fighter getting kicked out of the UFC for making a rape joke on twitter. Or an athlete getting kicked out of the Olympics for making a racist comment. These things happen and I don't think it's not too unusual.

And the best part about it is that no one can fucking do anything about it because Riot's the big raid boss here.
I don't think you can make an analogy to professional sports because, as far as I am aware, no professional sports player has ever been dumb enough to verbally harass fans in game after game, get disciplined, and then remorselessly repeat this pattern/process eight freaking times.
Let's be clear. This was not IWD being an asshole in a mere seven games, but in seventy times seven games. We're talking biblical levels of assholery.

Lol you really think that teams are going to pull out of the number one esport currently over one guy? Its not going to happen and even if it does there are more then enough lol only teams to keep it going.

Considering Dignitas is an organization with a list of sponsors there's no way they are even discussing backing out. Riots the only show in town, they wouldn't have much if they left. Nobody would stick their neck out and follow them out either.

We don't have any examples of IWD being a racist or making rape jokes. And even if he did he didn't do it on a public platform like twitter.

Should make a new thread for the IWD stuff I think, it's all everyone is talking about and with S3 just hitting I am sure some ppl would like to discuss the actual game.

Holy shit Crumbzz back to jungle???
Dig could be back if they make the right pickup (WoDx)

Man, I just realized that I really don't enjoy this game after the changes. These new items suck and the interface blows. The masteries are dumb. I think I might uninstall for a bit until I feel like actually learning a completely new game.

lol this is a fucking joke
i don't even think i can describe how much of a fucking joke it really is, but i will try anyway
actually never mind i'm not going to, this is really sad though and i hope to god they contacted him directly multiple times and explained to him that his entire professional career as a video game player would be threatened if he didn't fix his shit
either way they could've disabled ranked games on his account for awhile or something, or even a one month ban or something...but this, this is just what the fuck. also lol at that post he "wrote" in his thread, odee probably wrote that for him o wait nvm odee doesn't have computer cuz computer burned down with his house

Getting kicked out of the Olympics is arguably even worse, considering it's something the athletes live up to for 4 years or even their whole lives.

There was no such contract, or even warning as far as we know, on Riot's part.
He got 8 temp bans/warnings. If 8 is not enough, how many is?

I mean, it's one thing to constantly to keep banning him, for repeatable offenses but, it's another to ban for an entire year. With that being said, I wasn't aware that his solo queue attitude was considered that toxic. Could this be them making an example out of IWD? I think this is partially it, and it just happens to happen between Seasons? seems Riot at least made it convenient for Dig, to pick up a new jungler, during the lull between seasons.
Each offense or group of offense should be a flat punishment, not an additive one. Oh well, Riot's game, Riot's choices.

If you think Dig is going to go to bat and threaten to up and quit League over Iwilldominate, I think you are getting your hopes up.
The guy essentially acted like a scumbag, he was told eight times in previous temp bans to knock it off, he couldn't manage to behave himself when his career was to play the game. He did this to himself, not Riot. No one held a gun to his head to tell him hey go be a dick at your place of work and frell the consequences.
No way no how does Dignitas try to cover a guy who essentially made them look bad for getting in this situation in the first place.

Riot trying to act like big boys but they don't understand how immature they're being. It's quite unfair to players that riot has an iron grip over anything and everything related to the pro scene.
If Riot heard the kinds of things talked about in real sports on the court/field they'd destroy their own league banning people. They don't understand competition at all. They want to act like the immature manchild gamer persona is dead, but they're revealing their own immaturity in the process. They really don't get it. It's not about punishing rude behavior. it's about them having no idea what is the right punishment/deterrent. The dude will probably just quit.

Yeah, he was unsportsmanlike, so toss him out for a certain period of time. But when you compare that to some of the suspensions people get in sports these days and that's absolutely killer. You get caught roiding? 50 game ban out of 162 game season. Get into a fight in a basketball game? Even Artest only got 70 games for fighting fans in the stands.
And now you take a look at IWD, who's really a saint in comparison to some of the other high level players out there. What'd he do? He made fun of someone and made their life miserable. Boofuckinhoo. Suspend him a year for that? Absolutely ridiculous from my perspective. UFC fighters get suspended for 6 months to a year. How about examples like a MMA fighter getting kicked out of the UFC for making a rape joke on twitter. Or an athlete getting kicked out of the Olympics for making a racist comment. These things happen and I don't think it's not too unusual. And I'm sure it was clearly stated in whatever contract they signed that it was possible for this to happen. Presumably he got no warnings that his competitive career was in jeopardy. Which is really the issue. Riot shouldn't have 100% control over their game and their competitive scene.
