Can't say I agree with Riot at all on this one, even though I think it makes Dignitas a stronger team.

Oh man, on top of his Main account being banned, ALL of his existing smurfs are banned too. So he basically has to start over from level 1 if he wants to play League.

It would set a bad precedent if Riot said "Well, he's a progamer, permaban doesn't apply to him". There's a difference between getting warnings about getting an account permabanned and warnings that you are going to be barred from professional play for a year. I'm not against suspending pro players for their toxic behavior, but if there was no warning of this possible consequence before hand, Riot has set the precedent that they could suspend other players for violating rules they were never warned about.

The thing is, which I commend Riot for doing, is not discriminating normal players and professional players. If they are perm banning normal players who aren't "famous" for trash talking in game, and not someone like IWD, things wouldn't look too good. He was the worst of the pros regarding negative behavior/verbal abuse. I watch multiple streams daily and I've never seen someone rage and talk shit as much as IWD does.

You can't somehow make analogies like that since this has nothing to do with in a competitive game. If you want to do it your way it would be more akin to this Rasheed Wallace person playing basketball games with fans and shit talking them constantly/poor behaviour. There's a difference between talking his to your competition in a game and to others. You can argue I guess the one shouldn't effect the other but Riot controls both so unfortunately they do effect each other.

Been messing with the new jungle a bit with no leashes of any kind. Feels like Diana can run 9/0/21 or 0/9/21 np in the new jungle and does not even need machete. What does everyone think of running a 21 utility tree on her, since I'm pretty bad at this game figured I'd see if I can get any decent advice on it.

trm is right imagine if blizzard implemented retarded riot rules, idra and most of pros would get banned too
|
I see this as a good opportunity for Dignitas to actually get a good jungler.
I am sure everyone agrees that he is at best a mediocre jungler in the professional scene. But to get punished by the tribunal 8 times is an eye opener. I wonder how Team Dignitas even works with him.
Any predictions on who will be jungling for Dig now? Are there any good junglers left in NA?

So that essentially mean IWD is done from the comp league scene as it were. Seems irrational that he could break back in after 1 year of soloQ considering he hasn't been performing well anyways.

If he was suspended for that exact thing it would be closer to this situation.
Edit: I agree with your point at the end, the fact Riot controls it all is kind of scary. There are reasons that pro sports have players unions, to avoid these kind of things.

As I said the analogies just don't work so people should stop trying to use them.

I guess this is what happens when the developers have full control over the competitive scene.
Sure, he shouldn't have been an asshole in solo queue games. But being an asshole shouldn't make you unable to play professionally.

It's not the perfect analogy, but it's essentially what it is. IWD got banned an entire year for verbally harassing a bunch of his fans in a game many times. Big fuckin whoopdeedoo. Insane overreaction from Riot here that fucks over not only him but Dignitas as an organization.
And the best part about it is that no one can fucking do anything about it because Riot's the big raid boss here.

So BotRK+one of the mid lvl jungle items basically allows you to solo baron. Success with Warwick and Xin. Morale of the story, build BotRK and win games.

Actually, NBA players get fined often for speaking unfavorable quotes to the public. If a player were to constantly be out in the public making the league look bad (trash talking pick up games), I wouldn't be surprised if they suspended the player for a long period either.
Edit: Though I'm not saying what Riot did was right or fair. It does seem too harsh IMO.

But the problem is that he got perm-banned via the Tribunal. Usually, when Riot perm-ban a "commoner", they also attach words such as "please do not play LoL ever again".

He got banned for a year for harassing his fans, and doing it even though he was warned, and punished 8 times for it. I think the system is too lenient as it is. 8 warnings/temp bans before perm? I think more like 2-3 would be enough.

Considering he's only banned from The Championship series that Riot is starting up, doesn't mean IWD can't compete in tournaments outside of the series. I'm sure he's already starting up a new account and leveling it as we're having a discussion.
They banned his main and his smurfs from League Of Legends, why wouldn't they ban him from the Championship Series, which is directly related the summoners code/Riot as a company?
And for heavens sake, no one should ever leave ranked games because they are raging. Which he has done MULTIPLE times. Seriously?
|
Just look at how many famous athletes get punished for the things they say on Twitter! I'm not surprised by Riot's decision and and if being banned 8 times wasn't enough warnings then 50 bans wouldn't solve anything either. Thumbs up Riot, NA needs to cycle in some new talent from the shadows anyway.
