On another note, has anyone read this topic on reddit about PhantomL0rd? Apparently people donated over $5000 or so to him, with some individual donations reaching $1000. What I wouldn't give for $1000 right now...

Uh...did I miss something?
Is there a reason people are donating to him besides the fact that they happen to like him?
What about the fact that he's generally pretty BM and douch on stream, albeit entertaining at times?

He cried apparently.
Donating thousands of dollars to a man that already gets thousands of stream viewers and charges redic money for lessons seems a bit silly but I guess people can waste their money how they want.

He was talking about his time on v8 and how the stress of being a pro player or not being good enough really hurt him a lot, etc. etc. People started donating to cheer him up and he started crying after 500$ so then people donated 1000$ >.>

We live in a world where absolute idiots like Destiny have farmed unwavering loyal fanbases. The fact that someone like phantomlord was also able to exploit the community in the same/similar way isn't really surprising at all.

The nice thing about living in this age of streaming is you can generally find someone you like and if you feel the need you can support them and what you enjoy watching far better then you could by simply watching a tv show you enjoy weekly or buying it's DVD set after they cancel the show anyway.

While I am not a fan of PhantomLord's stream plenty of people are so it's not surprising to see people give money to something they enjoy watching. As far as people liking jerks, well everyone hates someone. I mean did you know people don't like Day9 or Gman Bob? Mind Boggling but true. It stands to reason then that if people dislike those guys, then someone has to like Phantomlord enough to give him 1000$.

Yeah, pretty much this.
Can you imagine being like the mother or girlfriend or grandfather of some of those donaters?
"Sorry I couldn't come visit this Christmas, gramps... I spent my winter and summer bonus and all my overtime hours donating to a guy who plays video games all day. Merry Christmas!"

Again, people can spend their money however they want, but it's still a bit depressing how some people choose to spend it haha
would you ever miss it?

Chauster had a pretty funny comment when someone asked him why he gets so little stream viewers. He pretty much said that people watch for entertainment and not skill so no one watches him. If they watched for skill then he'd be getting the most viewers. It was cocky but sad and true.

Yea it makes sense. I just feel bad for Chauster cuz he is seriously amazing at everything but instead people watch Plord scream at his monitor while smurfing at 1200 Elo. I think Chauster just needs to fucking put his mic up. It's always too quiet.

I remember when DoubleLift literally doubled his viewers (from like 6k to 12k) when he went from tryhard commenting his ranked games to doing troll normal premades (which were admittedly fking hilarious).

That is very true. His mic is WAY too quiet. Makes watching his stream hard even if you want to. But his stream is good.

His mic has been quiet for the 2 years I've been watching him. He changes computers and it's still like that. Makes no sense qq.

it's sometimes nice that chauster streams at weird times and gets no viewers cuz i've actually been able to ask him a lot of questions via IRC and he's given mostly short but helpful answers. He's still and always been my favorite player even after pussying out vs Dig by never flash ulting as Sona. He's the original league of legends MAN, always telling people to stop pussying out and fight him, etc.

I don't know if this goes in the Loci thread or the QQ thread, but I'm really fucking tired of winning my lane so hard that you the jungler camps me all day. I know that it should be a win for my team if the jungler is up top 100% of the time, but it's really fucking annoying.

The one streamer I always want to see is doublelift, too bad he never streams.
