You're kind of constrained with team comps without CV, but it works with the current meta. You have to either have vision or a tank that can walk in front at key moments or you will just get raped facechecking. There was an instance of this not to long ago (scrim or go4lol maybe?) where a team was running a heavy carry team with noct jungle and something like two APs, so they had nobody who could walk forward without vision. Meanwhile the enemy team cleared their wards and took baron before they could move forward to see if they were actually doing it.

You theoretically could still run the super carry comp if you got ahead early and/or had tons of wards to spam against oracle clearing, though. Alternative is to have a tank support like Alistar who can facecheck, but in current era soraka/sona are heavily favored.
