Yea I know...but tbh almost anything would be better than E right now. Currently it's just batshit stupid skill. And I'm saying that as a Yorick player who abused him in season 1 to gain like 150 elo lol

Maokai works freaking everywhere lol. He has the sustain for top, the burst for mid, he can go bot as support pretty well too (as demonstrated by Dignitas), and he can jungle pretty darn well with good ganks too.
I always just go RoA -> tank/triforce/deathcap. Works pretty well usually.

I think I might start playing him more over Cho'Gath for an AP bruiser guy. AP Bruiser Cho'gath is so last year. Tank->Wit's End Cho is where it's at. EDIT: And playing Maokai top wastes the fact that Jungle Mao has one of the most brutal jungle ganks in the game.
I like to get RoA still on Cho and get Wit's after I have Frozen Heart or FoN depending on other team. I know that Mao is probably better in jungle but he's just so fun in lane. Your jungler ganks for you and you W first it's almost guaranteed kill or else they blow a flash.
Still definitely better in jungle though, I agree.

To those who lane him top: That's the only role I'm having trouble playing him so far. I feel his sustain is shitty compared to strong sustain champs (WW/Udyr/relia/Yorick) and his burst is mediocre compared to people who burst well and hard early on. (Talon, Panth, Jarvan)
I really feel his kit is a tick too weak for most common matchups solo top.
Against who do you root and against who do you route? (them word games, so good)
