Hey guys,
I had to move to Indonesia for work related issues, and I've been playing LoL in NA servers as I used to do while I lived in Argentina. Ping was basically the same (around 200 to 270), which made it ok for me.
Just yesterday I discovered LoL has a SEA server with Garena, and I created a new account. First time in my life Im playing with 50 ping and I love it.
If anyone has an account here, feel free to add me Summoner name "Pato".
To make the thread interesting, here's a few things from my first game:
- Had a lvl 30 summoner playing lane Nunu in my team, who gave first blood due to "lag" and his build was basically 5 x Needlesly Large Rod. I had to convince him that if he was going for that silly build, at least turn one into deathcap for the +30%. He insulted me 5 minutes but did it anyways.
- People are WAY more aggresive than in NA server. I played AP Alistar and ended 11/3 but was insulted by the whole team for pinging to do dragon and baron, and saying to B. The enemy team also insulted me everytime they killed me.
- the rotation of heroes is weird. I did not count exactly, but I had like 30 champions to choose and this was my first game. There were new champs like Brand, Nocturne, etc... Really weird.
- I think they use chinese art, which rocks. The interface also seems more friendly, with tutorials, faqs, and guides easily available from the Main menu.

does everyone on Sea usually use English to communicate? curious how that works

the sea server has low pop, so if you keep winning your games at low lvls, expect to face 30s soon
yes, people use english to communicate, but it's usually shitty english
do not count on your team to do anything. even at top level ranked games of SEA, we get unranked dudes sometimes

I guess I'll stick to NA servers then.

well if you're just a typical average skilled person, the server's low population at the higher end will hardly mean a thing to you. you should be pretty ok swimming around with all the middle-ites.
there are after all benefits to playing on SEA
-stabler servers due to lower pop
-frequent free champ weekends and whatnot
-frequently >25 champs free

Same thing with hon, tried for fun to play hon via proxy, people were not very good that's for sure.

I think a lot of SEA people are still sticking with Dota. The publicity for LoL isn't very prevalent here, and I would not have switched if not for the popularity of it on TL, having played Dota for about 7 years.
I don't know how fast other servers are at matchmaking in solo queues, but here they're fast enough during peak hours (1-2 min). About the mix of higher and lower levels in matches, I think the system does it such that the average levels of the teams are about equal, thus putting lvl 5 and lvl 30 players in the same match. The only way to get serious games is to find 4 other friends to form a team... That's not too difficult, seeing how big TL is!

1-2 mins for typical solo q actually pretty long. NA is pretty much instant afaik. but its still pretty acceptable - i like how i can piss and come back to champ select music. whats NOT acceptable however:
-ranked 5v5 (never happens)
-ranked 3v3 (easily 30 mins +++)
-ranked solo q when you're high enough / no one else is queueing / offpeak hour/ all of the above (1 hour np)
-normal 5 man premade (varies from instapop to 30 mins +++ depending on whether there's another 5 man premade going on. thankfully there often is at the right times)

Server super dead. I tried to play solo queue at 20:00 local time friday night.
Waited 5 minutes, no game.
Gonna go out instead lol.
