Steps on becoming a better player from a first timer's perspective.
Step #1 Mechanics-Before you learn anything in this game, you need to learn the basic mechanics, and the even more complex mechanics. This includes being able to do all the more complex actions in this game with a decently high apm. Learning in the first step include last hitting almost perfectly, being able to cast spells at the right time for maximum effect, having good reactions to situations, being able to move champion very freely, etc. Animation canceling is included in this section. Once you pass this stage, you can move on to the next step.
Step #2 Game Awareness-Game awareness includes knowing all the ins and outs of the game. Other than knowing the basic order of objectives in this game like what objective is more important than another objective at different stages of the game, etc. the standard crap you see every1 do, you need to know the more general and specific things about game awareness. For example, things like oh, enemy team has a pantheon, let's not be way far from our tower, get ganked, and then blame teammates or just be like oops. People have a hard time having awareness vs stealth, like if you move out of tower range vs eve, you are vulnerable. Even more vulnerable without summoners. Etc, etc. This step also includes other things like lane awareness, knowing how to play your lanes vs specific matchups, and awareness like positioning, jungle awareness, knowing how to play roles, knowing how to play teamfights, etc. If you have great Game Awareness, it should be really hard for you to do bad in a game because you are just aware of everything.
Step #3 Concentration-Concentration defines your personal skill in this game. It's like awareness in RTS games. Concentration includes how well you can concentrate on the main screen, the minimap, the timer, your summoners, your gold, the tab screen, etc. (yeah there's more) Concentration is all about how well you can concentrate between all the elements in the game while performing the actions on your main screen at a high level. Examples of great concentration, would be you having the mechanical skills of a great player, which is not that hard, while knowing the position of every champion in the minimap at all times, knowing the exact moment they were missing, knowing exactly meaning precisely when all the important jungle minions spawn because you looked at the timer and recorded in your heard their next spawns, things like what items enemy team bought exactly as they appear on the minimap after they bought items, etc. (yeah there's more) How gud your mind apm bro.
Step #4 Specialization and Timings-This step includes knowing specific timers on different aspects of gameplay and your gameplay. At this point, the game becomes a science, because you know timings on everything. Builds, specific builds for specific situations, enemy build timings, ally build timings, champion dominance timings, specific jungle timings, knowing exact strengths and disadvantages of certain comps, etc.
Step #5 Mastery-At this stage, you play the game at a perfect or almost perfect level. Everything stated above you know like the palm of your hands. You have absolutely nothing else to learn, and you know or can abuse even the most minute things like I have 2 more creeps than the other person in lane, that bought me an extra hp pot, I win lane, or I know how much gold regular gold per second gives and how much the mastery gives, and how much they have just on that by the 2:00, 2:30, 3:00 mark, etc. Then I counted what kind of creeps they killed so I know how much gold they have exactly, etc. These are just generalizations. But yeah, a master knows everything.
Note, everything up to step 3 is probably done really well by top players. I'm learning the steps.

Step #6 Troll - At this stage of the game, you're already 2K elo, so why the fuck not ban teemo and mordekaiser and 1st pick Mundo?
|
Protip to #3: get enough sleep. (I don't do this.)
goddam it numbers PM me your smurf name

I have skipped step 1 and went directly to steps 2 and 3. What do?

With your steps being super vague and without explanation, you might as well have said "pwn dem n00bs" and be done with it. No tips on positioning and 'mechanics'? Mechanics are almost as vague as 'meta-game'.
Saying how to be a better player is a long, long way from allowing people to become better players, especially in a game with as little info available like LoL.

To become a better player, learn step 1. Learn better mechanics and you will get better.

LoL is super ez, have fun That might make you decent, maybe good, but not a master. That's the chobo stuff. yeah, but when you are "decent" enough, you cant really improve anymore except by playing more games. also have few nice friends discussing with you after games is always nice.
ps. not saying ur post is not true though

I sort of get the point of this thread, but it still seems too vague and personalized to be useful. In any case a few things struck as me things I must learn about, therefore just to bring one up: Animation canceling: I know what it is, and how to do it, yet I don't understand when it should be used or even why, or on which champions. Anyone care to elaborate?
