I have seen many people play Lux and fail miserably. They usually choose some incredibly poor items and apparently do not know their role in a fight at all. Driven on by this blasphemy, my spirit has returned into physical form long enough for me to teach you the way of the Lux.
Runes Magic Penetration Reds Mana-per-5-per-level Yellows Straight Cooldown Reduction Blues CDR or Movement Speed Quints
Masteries 9/0/21, with 2 points in EXP and 3 in Meditation. No points in neutral buffs.
Skill Build Many people like to get a level of W early on. This is bad. Lux needs as much damage as she can get and needs it early to hit like a truck later on. Getting a worthless shield that protects for nothing and will likely be dodged by your allies anyways is pointless. Q-E-E-Q-E-R-E-Q-E-Q-R-Q-W-W-W-R-W-W. Always.
Item Build Doran's Ring + 1 Red Pot, followed by: Boots of Speed Amplifying Tome Boots of Movement (Boots3) Mejai's Soulstealer which then diverges to "Uberbrave" Sword of the Occult Leviathan Trinity Force Guardian Angel or "Tryhard" Tears of the Goddess Archangel's Scepter Zhonya's Ring Void Staff (sell Doran's Ring) Guardian Angel
You will notice that items like Rylai's Scepter, Rod of Ages, Frozen Heart/Brain, and Lich Bane are not on here. Think about it. Lux's two main spells (not her ultimate) are a snare and a weird slow. Why do you need slow? Lux also should be nowhere near a fight-she specializes in long range combat. Why do you need HP or armor? Finally, Lux should once again be nowhere near a fight to autoattack. Why do you need Lich Bane?
How to play Lux Last hit like mad. Zone your opponent if possible unless they're playing cowardly Kennan or Vladimir or something. Abuse E's stupid range. Run around and gank at Level 3 if you see an opening. Get lots of Soulstealer charges. Gank at 6. Snipe with your ult. Keep sniping with your ult. Plant wards at blue and red and dragon to snipe it. Keep ganking. Last hit. By now you should have an ult up every 24 seconds for 1000 damage. Win the game.
Do not get anywhere near a team fight. If you see somebody within autoattack range run. Spam your shit everywhere. Spam your shield, don't bother aiming it as your teammates will run away from it so random is better. Spam your Q and E and R as much as you can. Primary targets are ranged DPS.
Any questions?

I'll try that right now :p
Edit : What about summoners spells ? :p

I don't know about that. Lux can dramatically increase her damage output if she can land autoattacks after each ability. Plus Lux doesn't really have anything to do after blowing all her abilities. I'm not saying you must attack everyone with an Illumination charge but you should be looking for decent opportunities to autoattack an enemy with an Illumination charge to take advantage of your passive.
Also, I don't see why you would get Trinity Force and totally rule out getting Lich Bane. In fact, with your arguments above, you say Lux shouldn't autoattack and does not need to slow. Those are two of the things that Trinity Force, through its attack speed, crit chance and chance of slow, has over Lich Bane.

You clearly do not understand bravery.

Well, I gather bravery is about having the 3 stack items but I don't think there is any prerequisite for Trinity Force?

Lux is crap, her CDs are absurdal but I still love her, pew pewing with rainbow and stacking SS is what I enjoy the most ! <3

My only problem with Lux is that she's essentially a worse Morgana:
Weaker skillshot snare (that does hit 2 targets) Tainted Soil that does its damage upfront, but less over time (E) A weaker shield (Arguably completely useless) Their Rs...Morgana's has the potential to be so much more powerful, but Lux's is safer and thus useful in more situations.
I got her the day she came out on my smurf, and she's fun at those levels where people don't know how to dodge skillshots, but once you get up to the higher levels, you'll have a bitch of a time filling your mejai's
