Based on the reactions people have been giving, I'm inferring he's a well-liked character. Is/was he important in the WarCraft lore? Yeah, he's on the list of people who were epic in Warcraft, then got the "idiot raid boss" treatment in WoW.

I hear that complaint a lot, but a lot of Warcraft 1 and 2 characters will killed off in worse ways than "idiot raid boss treatment" in WoW. At least his appearences in WoW were pretty cool..

No "Vegetables bad, meat good!" please. I've thought this too, but honestly what was Diablo 1 Butcher except nightmare fuel for pre-teens? All he did was run fast and hit you, he didn't have spells or special abilities and had a weakness to closed doors with windows next to them =p. If you mean in character, then ya I hope he loses the camp and 'a species of demons' thing and is a unique monster again. I actually never rolled the Skeleton King quest in Diablo 1 (usually tried to blow past the middle of the game) so I can't comment on what he was like back then.

I don't think any of the bosses in D1 had any special abilities...it was a simpler game.

Kaelthas was awesome until the moment he decided to aid Illidan. Arthas was atleast a jerk from minute one, so I didn't mind that he slowly lost everything. I wonder which abilities they will give him ... every of his warcraft 3 abilities would be insanely op in team fights. TBH I don't mind a ton of Warcraft heroes, but I really want a scifi themed battle ground.

Shit it would be so awesome if the Butcher had a Trait that allowed him to hit-lock opponents ![]() And it makes sense that Warcraft heroes will be the majority; Warcraft is by far Blizzard's largest IP. However, they could stand to diversify the other universes a bit. There is absolutely no excuse for the Necromancer to be missing from the Diablo lineup. Utter. Fucking. Bullshit.

Butcher was just really fast, you couldn't out run him either. But maybe you're right and that could be some sort of trait, some built-in attack-speed debuff (reverse Overwhelming Presence if you will). I'm curious about Kael'thas too. Flamestrike seems like a given to keep. From interviews I've seen, Illidan didn't keep manaburn because that would have been too OP (also frustratingly unfun) and Sylvanas' possession is so weak because controlling a hero would have been too 'unfun'. So I'm not hopeful for drain mana staying. I don't know if he'll keep Banish either for that matter. It's possible they'll go more the WoW fire mage route with him (he does have Pyroblast after all - but that was also something he had in WoW). I hope his trait is a spell steal / purge ability to keep in character with the blood mages at least.
