Are you sure it doesn't say as a Diablo Hero? I never had a daily asking me to play a specific hero, only as a hero from a specific game (in case you don't know, Diablo is also the name of the game, with HotS heroes like Valla, Sonya, Tyreal etc.).

Only if you haven't unlocked all character rotation slots. Once you have then you can do all quests just with the free rotations.


Correct, week I got in my only Diablo hero was Nazeebo at the level 15 slot. Wouldn't you know I got play as a Diablo hero? But it's ok since you can hold multiple daily quests at a time anyways.

It's still possible to complete these if you use auto-select and get lucky though. Auto-select will pick from the entire pool of free-rotation heroes (and any you've purchased of course), even if your account hasn't unlocked those slots yet.

People should just prioritize their initial hero purchases to cover each of the main classes. It only takes 10k gold to cover all of the classes, with specialist being the most expensive at 4k minimum (Gazlowe). And honestly, the only class that you really need to buy early on is a specialist as that one tends to be the most limited in the free rotation.

EDIT: If you're not going to get a specialist first, just get Tassadar. He's a jack-of-all-trades hero who fits into pretty much any solo queue comp and is fairly easy to learn how to play competently and incredibly powerful when played well. Also, he's the best hero to play during free Zeratul and free Nova weeks.

New to HoS, I was watching Khaldor's stream tonight. I don't understand what's the point of making a moba when there's no micro involved (can't micro the mercenaries, can't micro the invocations, no last hit, towers aren't threatening and have no real strategic purpose they just make the game last a little bit longer, tassadar makes 3 force fields because FF micro in Sc2 was too exciting etc.). Why not just make a 5v5 Super Smash Bros. Brawl with blizzard's heroes if they only want fun and team fights (and micro transactions)? They could even make a port to console and make tons of bucks.

I also felt Dustin Browder's touch when I saw that the Zerg units didn't feel zergy at all lol. The swarm ? Nope, forget that, here are 3 banelings or 2 locusts. Also, protoss are powerful but expensive fighters? nope, we give you Zeratul the assassin and Tassadar the support. I'm not familiar with Diablo and Warcraft but I hope their heroes aren't a let down.

Blizzard really cut out a lot of the fat that's in LoL and DotA. No offence to either games, as I played both for many years and still greatly respect them, however HotS is a game that focuses on the most exciting parts of each games. It's much faster paced and everyone starts with all abilities, which means that you can team fight sooner.

After all, the main draw in watching DotA and LoL is the team fights and HotS capitalises on that.

The other thing is that a lot of the things you mentioned (last-hitting in particular), while it is a skill that requires good mechanics, can you honestly it's something exciting to do/watch? Blizzard's philosophy here is that would plays rather fight enemy heroes or enemy minions? As a viewer, would you rather they fight enemy minions or enemy heroes?

HotS is undoubtedly the least mechanically taxing of the three major MOBAs but that's not a bad thing. LoL is "easier" than DotA but it still has plenty of tactics. Really, the biggest and main/only gripe I have with the game is gold gain.

I don't even know how to respond to this. Have you played League of Legends? Some of the characters are close to being literal gods.

LOL is designed around a very high skillcap in the hero vs hero interaction, which can make it exciting to watch and fun to play (with compeititve mindset). Heroes of the Storm is more designed around teamcoordination, which really isn't that interesting in my opinion.

It's the more recent heroes that started to have increased skill-caps. All the earliest heroes are pretty boring and low-skillcap

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about hero skill caps in HotS. I'm sure that there will be plenty of mechanically difficult heroes as the game matures.

and if so, whats more exciting, last hitting or hero poking?

also, heroes has a bigger last hitting mechanic than both LoL and dota combined. that's last hitting mercenaries and objectives/ fighting over objectives to capture them last.

It's not really the same at all. Last hitting is its own thing which simply doesn't exist in HotS. Frankly, I think HotS is a better game for it for the reasons that you point out.

Though to be fair, I'm cool not having it in HotS, I prefer Dota overall, but it's nice to play HotS when I want to chill and no go full tryhard doto mode

Last hitting would be more comparable to the "hit an enemy creep in the last x second before its death to get a bonus" (seasoned marksman, Diablo's souls, etc.) or talents working with health globes, while mercs, as objectives, are basically the jungle.
These have absolutely nothing in common, especially because last hitting involves a reward that is generally granted by a "faction" creep, while jungling/mercs are neutral objectives, and in HotS you have to control a point, not deal the finishing blow, to receive their perks.
Cant take LMS hipsters serious.

Last hitting doesn't make sense for HotS. The only resource gained from creeps is XP. Having to last hit for XP would be incredibly lame.

Oh man, im torn apart!!!

I dont have any specialists and i have almost 10k gold and thought to buy Nazeebo (only specialist that i like playing).

But with the closed beta so close and Thrall seems a beast, don't know if i should buy Nazeebo or wait for Thrall?

Im not going to spend any money because Blizzard seems to like to have higher prices in EU and lower in Us for the same items, heroes and with the recent prices (only EU seems to get an increase on price, we already pay more for the same things because the Euro value is higher compared to the dollar, im not even counting with the VAT) im not going to spend any Euros on the game for now.

Should i wait for Thrall (already have Zeratul, as meele assasin) or should i buy Nazeebo, because i dont have any specialist?
