NightWalk is the most successful player in Gold Series. He is on Team World Elite.
Disaster at WCA: My oppenent played indeed well.
Despite beating Purple in the Ro16, NightWalk knew that he was facing the winner between Kolento and Firebat.
'The reason I was simply that my proponent is a great player. I lost to Firebat 2-3 in the end. I was preparing a lot. I guessed right about two of his decks and was going after his Secret Pally. This preparation worked out in fact. But he seemed to be more prepared and his preparation was more meticulous. He went for full Acidic Ooze and Harrison Jones to counter my shaman.'
It is NightWalk's first international competition. 'When I was playing against them, I felt they had more thought in details, which gives you a lot of pressure. I felt that I couldn't make any mistake. Having watched some of their games, I feel even the Malaysian players we often neglect plays really well, let alone the Koreans who eventually won the whole thing.'
Want of Big Stage
'I feel OK with my identity now as a pro player. I wanted to be a e-Sports player since young. I like the feeling of wiining. I went to a univesity in Tianjin and I played some small tournaments there. The first big one I went to was Gold Series in Beijing. Fourth place was very pleasant. It also helped to build my self-confidence.'
'My major was Auctioning and Pawning. I did not like it. I actually took some days off during an internship to go to Beijing to play. Joining WE after the Grand Finals (last year) and becoming a pro was kind of a gamble. But I never want to give up and I carried on.
'Results from competitions have a heavy impact on our survival. The reason we continued to play is that we hope to get good results from big stages. Then the accomplishment, the exposure, then you can change your circumstances.'
'My parents are peasants. I don't think they really know what I am doing. I don't want to tell them any detail, either. I want to do that after my life has been more stablised. My mom actually asked if I was doing anything illegal. Haha.'
No God Slayer, Thank You
'I have been practising with the Grand Finals' format. I am rather confident in my versatility. This time is 4ban1 conquest, which will require more strategic thinking.'
'I've seen the list of the players. Rather familiar faces. We will seed how the drawing goes. And I will be doing some targeting, but so will my opponens. There will be a lot of mind games going on.'
'I don't want God Slayer, who has been practising really hard this year. His results can also attest to his efforts. I don't want MrHumor, either. It just feels bad to meet a team-mate.'
