After getting fed up with mages in ranked I decided to go for an arena run. Ended 4-3 with 7 mages in a row...
I hate when people exagerate how good or bad things are on the internet (where people seem to only speak in hyperboles) but the game really is close to unplayable with the current meta/patch. Imma go find something else to do and wait this shit out. Not losing anymore of my sanity playing this.

The annoying thing about mages is that there are so many ways for them to abuse the damage burn. Alexstrasza, Pyroblasts, Secrets, Giants, etc. When you find out what is their plan it's often too late because you realize they will kill you in the coming turns and you expected something different. Also I feel like the "freeze" mechanic (especially when AoE) is just as annoying (if not more) than mind control.

I always feel like the coin adds so much extra versatility to your hand in the early game (not to mention all the Rogue combo fun and things you can do with spells) and the extra card is just so useful to make up for possible bad draws in your opening hand.
But going second feels soooooo good. So that's a plus.
Going first is huge in the midgame though; it gives you a certain level of initiative and it is especially important for mid game AOE's during board battles.
Apparently before the coin, going first had a win rate of like 70%+

Wow thought my 2nd arena deck was doing better than my first, 3 wins with just 1 loss, then i get my ass handed to me by a priest and a druid. I went second against the druid and other than my stealthed minion never was able to keep anything on the board despite playing many more cards than him

Mages...
Is there literally zero people working on Hearthstone balance at Blizzard? I can't think of any other explanation for the current state of the game.

I haven't seen that many mages. Did run into a guy who bought his deck though with nat pagle, alexstrasa, ysera, rock and roll tauren, etc...
That was annoying.
This game is too addicting. Need to eat and study.
If you run into a lot of mages, can't you try to get cards that do well against mages. Flamestrike's breakpoint is 4 damage so 5 life minions are good. pyroblast does 6. So you just need 7 life minions. Yes, maybe they'l' play an azure dragon and get out a +1 damage or they'll use pyroblast, but every 2 mana counts. Secretkeeper is good for when your opponent has a lot of secrets.
I mean, if you're seeing 8 mages in a row, it's time to run counterdecks. Get something that gives you some bonus life late game like keeper of the grove so they can't finish you off when you gain board control. They're limited to a set number of pyroblasts.
Write down the mage secrets on flash cards and study the damage of their cards and their openings to find counters.
Research spells. Eg I found out that freezes can be removed with silence. Priests have an AoE silence.

This is for QQ right?
OK HERES SOME QQ. 6-0 Warrior feeling good. Run into a Paladin who was able to use THREE truesilvers in a row, so every 2 turns. Pretty QQ. Next game super close a guy topdecks a panda returns his argos cant finish him. I was a bit lucky that game too but still sad as fuck. And finally I go call my mom because she texted me and forget I Q'd. QQ.

Silences are currently too scarce and slapped in inefficient cards. Also priest AoE silence only hits enemy minions so it can't remove freeze from yours.

From my post in another thread
My buddy from college works at jimmy johns and I traded a hearthstone beta key for a sub. He plays his free arena and goes 1-3. Opens his pack---- gold Onyxia..... I haven't even got a legendary yet.
What makes it worse is he can still play arena but mine is bugged still :/
Anyone know an ETA on when they will fix the arena bug?

There was a blue post on the official forums stating the bug won't get fixed this week, so next week unfortunately :/

Fuck mages. Need a nerf so fucking badly.
Seriously though, fucking molten giant ragnaros iceblock double blizzard stall. Such fucking bullshit, especially in an arena deck.
Also I have no fucking bomber luck. Every single time I've played the stupid thing it shoots me at least twice. Might as well be playing flame imps.
WTF TOP DECK FUCKING FROST ELEMENTAL INTO CONE OF COLD TO LIVE BY ONE HEALTH. FUCK MAGES.
6-0 into face 3 mages and lose to bullshit from all fucking three.

After a few verry nice episodes of value town, the last episode was rather disapointing. Specially the analyses of a few ingame positions was horrible. There was no analysis at all and people just yelled their opinnion without even thinking, not to mention that their opinion sometimes was plain wrong. They where not interested in the position showed at all,but only interested in beeing heard. To then hear someone sugest the right move and the host and guests dismissing that right move without thinking or analysing as a "nah thats just bad" "no that is the worst" is kinda hilarious and makes them all look a bit dumb.
