On another note, the play option would be improved if it wasn't such a blind match. Something like showing random 5 or so cards before the game begins so you attempt to figure out the deck before it blindsides you like some decks sometimes do. I mentioned it before, his deck is reliant on Goblin Auctioneer, if you let it live you are fucked, kill it and the deck loses lots of steam suddenly.

It bothers me so much that no matter how hard i try, i still cannot obtain a beta key. Its like I have a curse for obtaining beta keys in blizzard games, any other games easily get a beta key.
And as someone mentioned, Rob Simpson is a pretty good streamer, fairly informative.

I think you need to have a Mac to get into betas, those bitches are hard and they need to test on them. Or at least hae you beta profile be done in a Mac!

woops, I wrote something for another thread here sorry!

Been playing Blizzard games since WC2 & original Starcraft and haven't gotten into a single beta. Also played WoW for a better half of my life and bought every game they've made. Not a single beta chance... or any of my friends lol.

^ I feel ya, but you, me, and hundreds if not millions of other people with those exact same "credentials" don't have one.
Based on my other beta experiences like this that had this much craze for a beta key, once you play the game for a bit after the hype has died down, you realize the main reason people are so enamored with the game is primarily (key word here) due to it being a closed beta and you want what you can't have and what others have but you don't.
Meh, the game looks fun too I guess. But this fucking hype is stupid.

News Flash: Nobody cares if you didn't get into beta. Join the club, it's called the overwhelming majority.

Just be sure to follow Hearthstone official news section, Reddit's HS page, bunch of streamers have key giveaway, etc, there are already a lot of fan/community websites giveaways and contests around. Facebook sweepstakes starting soon, be sure to apply for that too!
I know it's matter of luck as much as getting key from opt-in but for instance I got my beta from giveaway (sucks I am from EU tho :D) and I was in the same boat as you guys... playing Blizzard games since forever, have them all, 6+ years WoW subscriber etc and never got into beta before.
Also game looks so decently polished already in this early closed beta stage, balance is okey-ish, and people are mad hyped - we can safely assume close beta won't last for too long!
Cheer up and hope for the best!

So back to the actual game....
Whats the rules on these people (streamers) getting so much $$ in donations for packs (lets take Sodapoppin as example). Do they get to keep all the cards they get from BETA when it goes live? Because doesn't that keep the balance of the game stupid? They will by the time of release have so many cards (Sodapoppin bought $200 of packs from donations within his first 3hours of play). The MMR will no doubt also be reset on release so wtf? Not sure if they are allowed to keep, but they would need refund on the $$ surely. I think would of been better if Blizzard just had like a blank way of buying packs to test that feature rather than actually letting beta testers buy packs.
Does look like the game might have legs though, i mean by the looks of it i'd spam play all the decks get them all unlocked and then i would play like 2-3 ladder games a day as i think i'd be pretty bored after that from the looks. However does look like there could be an easily manageable pro scene from this. I mean computer based card game is way easier to watch than a non computer card game, as looking at peoples cards in there hands becomes easier.

Following the wipe, players who made a purchase from the in-game store will receive a gold credit equivalent to their previous card pack and/or Arena purchases. Some buried blue post. Basically they don't get refunded $$ it just all converts into gold. So lose everything get a large amount of gold.

Hmmm the gold buys packs ya so they going to get a credit for all the packs they bought and just re open them on day 1...guess thats fine as it just them buying it all day one.
Thanks for the reply though, glad to see they wont be a million miles ahead

they will be. they get the equivalent of they money in gold so they can buy exactly the same amount of packs they had in beta. you will always have some rich ppl who spend insane amounts of money in such games. adding those popular streamers wont make a big difference

Yeah but they will have to re open all the packs on live, which is better than having all the cards by live and having all the decks made. They might get stupidly unlucky and not get half the cards they had during the beta etc. Plus having to rebuild the decks again. They will be in the same position 1 week after live but atleast they wont be AT the same position on live.
Of course the game at the moment clearly looks pay2win but it also doesn't seem that far off not being Pay2Win. Like you just need to win in your MMR category and farm the gold and i believe enchanting is pretty good way of doing so and is there a trade to trade cards aswell? Im sure some sort of system like that will be implemented (or should xD)

Here is the FAQ regarding the puirchased packs.
During the course of the Hearthstone closed beta, card collections and game progress will be reset, and any cards participants acquired will be removed. Following the wipe, players who made a purchase from the in-game store will receive a gold credit equivalent to their previous card pack and/or Arena purchases. Also, as a thank you for testing out the in-game store during Hearthstone’s beta phase, everyone who purchased a card pack in the beta test will receive a Golden Legendary card.
The bold part is important at least to me since I am assuming that the beta testers in general will be receiving their gold back. It mentions the use of the store and not specific to real-money; when we purchase packs via gold, it is from the same store as real money so they are together. Which if that is the case, makes me happy so not to feel like although fun to test, the hard work of getting packs will pay off.
Side note, the packs cost 100 gold and arena cost 150 gold after first try. Supposedly after your 100th win, you get 300 gold (so three packs worth). During arena, you play until you get three losses and then your 'key' (which is upgraded based on amount of wins) is used to open the chest and can get dust, packs, and gold.
Here is the blue post regarding streaming.
Requiring a paid subscription or any sort of paid opt-in to a beta key or other Blizzard-related player promotions is not allowed (see the Battle.net EULA and/or Blizzard video policy). The use of Blizzard content must be limited to non-commercial purposes, unless noted as an exception in the above link to the Blizzard Video Policy. We are investigating reports of streamers requiring forms of payment to allow others to opt-in to beta key giveaways. Thank you.
Although it has been answered, I just thought I would post the quotes as well.

Does that mean subscriber giveaways aren't allowed and it has to be follower giveaways only for Streamers?

So this turned out to be a pay to win game..Shame. Why cant corporations realize that its the "LOL" model the way to go!!! U pay only for visual upgrades....its so simple and guess what LOL is the most popular game right now in the world, and they are making a shitton of money out of it.
Blizzard just recently announced that the new TITAN MMO will be F2P as well.Imagine how badly they can screw up with a model like this hearthstone shit.

Ooo so there wont be any equivalent to like an auction house or trade pile like in FIFA Ultimate Team? The only way to handle "Swapsies" is to disenchant them?

Won't be long before DOTA > LOL and then the Blizzard MOBA will take people from LOL also. LOL is good and big as it is as it was the first big hitting system to come out. I also think thanks to Korea taking it as it's new BW that is another reason why it is still so successful now, but TI3 clearly proves DOTA > LOL, especially with all the aspects DOTA gives you that LOL doesn't.
ANYWAY that discussion clearly doesn't belong here my bad

Very true, like you say actually lets you able to play hard to get the cards rather than be a casual rich guy buying from Auction or Packs.
