If it is, who in korea is willing to get me an unlocked phone so I can use one of those awesome phones here in the states...

I'm pretty sure no foreigners phones work here and also when one of my friends left he told me his Korean phone was useless overseas so he gave it to me to keep.

Big mobile companies in America like AT&T uses GSM's (sim cards) while S.Korea uses HSDPA and CDMA. Not compatible unfortunately.

T_T damnit, I dont want to wait 5 years to get an old korean phone... why is usa so behind on the phone trend? My buddy just got back from the philipines and brought back the sickest phone, he got it hooked up to at&t if im not mistaken... whats the difference between a philipino phone and a korean one?

And some of them can be unlock to work in GSM mode. Instead of Korean phone, if you try to look for some cool phone try the Japanese phone. Long time age the 903SH(Sharp - Japanese phone) was really popular in GSM coutries. Try to use that as a lead, you may find some Jap phone that works in the states.
